matte tights in the colder seasons disguise legs while keeping warm. I don't like shorts but have some shorter skirts and dresses and tights hide my not so nice knees
I am almost 57 years and I wear shorts, bows, ruffles, bling bling, etc!, I believe you should wear what makes you feel great at any age. You look fabulous with everything you’ve shown. You go girl!,
I am 71 and find ruffles hard to wear. They usually feel too young unless they are subdued. Eyelet cottons still work for me and I favor Bermuda length shorts. Each to their own.

Hi Serena. I have a saying that age is a state of mind. If we think we should limit ourselves due to imaginary thresholds, we will become "old." I love my legs. I'll wear shorts because I feel beautiful in them. I love florals and color, and wearing them makes me feel true to myself. Im not trying to look young. Im just me. I have insecurities like everyone, but I choose to be me. 55 year old me! Your videos and sincere messages are a rallying force. Our lives are richer in our later years because we're smarter. Let's enjoy fashion and lift each other up!

I don't know how I missed this 2 days ago. I'm happy I watched it as I just turned 70. I had bought a dress from Loft a month ago and have been worried about it looking too young for me. It hits right at the knee. I think it looks good but I always worry what other people think. I skimmed through the comments and was happy to see other women in their 70s commenting they wear what they want. It makes me feel so much better. I think young and do not want to dress matronly.

I’m 68 and I’m very petite but I don’t wear real short shorts I wear them to the knee. I think mini skirts are out for me but whatever people want to wear is up to them. I really wear what I want.I don’t care what other people think.😮

J Crew is my favorite clothing store! I love their chino shorts and pants. I can look business casual for work but be appropriate on the weekends too. I bought the 5" shorts in white, navy, and green. They go with everything.

I am 79 and will be 80 in February. I weigh 160 pounds I’ve lost 50 pounds so my skin is hanging and for the first time I feel like I’m looking old but you make me feel young. I will wear ruffles I will show my upper arms, even though they’re wrinkly, you have given so many of us confidence with your bravery and empathetic resilient attitude. I have bought so many of the things that I would’ve never tried and I’m not shaped like you. I am more parachute but shouldered and short wasted I am a short woman and I have learned, the many of the trends that I did before were correct and thank you for introducing us to your favorites J.Crew being one and discovering the thin, precious little cotton tops that J.Crew has has saved me in my work environment. I do have some of the jeans that are your favorites, and might I recommend Cato so between having always been a Chicos girl at discovered Cato‘s and when I was large, I could find interesting combinations and gave me confidence to keep looking. The Chicos jeans are soft and more stretchy you need to size down I was even told that in the store, but the $27-$30 jeans I’ve ever bought were at Cato. And I save my J.Crew for my most special wearings and I have learned not to overwash my clothes to spot clean to hang to dry. One tip that I have always maintained from my mother she was a seamstress, and used lots of vinegar to fight against the calcium in the water to assist the soap and prevent fading. Poor vinegar with the detergent don’t be afraid those of us who have real hard water will appreciate. I love being a southern girl just like you have a great Mother’s Day.

Young lady you're doing a good job but as a content creator strangers often will dump their negative opinions on other's meanwhile im 57 and have enough style and confidence to wear what i feel good in and incorporate some trends that i can appreciate.

I thought the green midi-dress was perfect for you! I liked all the outfits but that was my favorite. I think women should wear whatever they feel comfortable in. Why shouldn't women over 50 wear shorts? Do they not get hot in the summer like everyone else?? As we age, I think a lot of people naturally stop wearing certain things (i.e. high heels) because they aren't comfortable anymore, but if they want to wear them, go for it!

I have noticed that my thighs do not look as good as they did 2 years ago so I do not wear anything too short anymore but that it is my only restriction on myself , of course I am age appropriate too as are you

50 is so young! I can’t remember thinking about what would or wouldn’t be appropriate for me to wear when I was 50. Maybe I was clueless😂. If still feel comfortable in shorts at any age, I feel that’s fine. It’s all about what we feel comfortable in & choose to wear.

I love your videos...can relate to your style, and at 5" 1 1/2", though differently shaped I'm same size 4 (mostly), so your modeling items, and giving fit details helps me a lot. I also relate to your taste and personal style. I've always loved pretty classics like your J Crew type looks & always been a feminine, romantic style dresser too. I've worked at LOFT in the past, and they tend to have more of the romantic styles, like with ruffles...which I still will wear. I'm just conscious to "grow this look up" for myself (I'm a little older than you) at this age, or I can look too "cutsie" at this stage, especially being petite. Smiled when you said "maybe it's a southern thing", lol...I'm from the Northeast (CT), I often lament that women up here, (some, not all!) dress like little old men as they get older and "give up." Chinos, masculine short hair, clunky shoes, whereas southern ladies maintain their femininity. I realize all that is "fluid" now, and of course to each their own. Just cultural differences to me, and I've always felt I fit the "southern style" more. Also, I love how you still rock shorts...you have great legs. I have fuller thighs, butt, and while I still wear shorts I've been wearing mostly 7" now, find them most flattering. But I miss those Gap style shorter ones. I'm on a journey to take off some unwanted 10 lbs, so maybe once I do who knows what I can wear then. Anyway.....I think it's not so much an age thing, but a personal style thing, and what actually flatters you, wear that. You do have to be cognizant a bit to make it seem like a sophisticated version vs.too "junior"....at least that's what I do. Tks, Serena for all you do.

Hi, everything looked great on you. I am over 50 and love wearing shorts and above the knee dresses. All the outfits are so cute on you. And I think nothing of wearing sleeveless tops as I've got great toned arms. Sometimes it is just a matter of preference/personal style; for example, I have never been a fan of ruffles, but that's just me and not an "age thing." I liked the denim dresses in particular.

I’m 66 and I wear a lot of black and grey. Yoga pants, jeans. Wear what I like. Not what’s trendy. Who says what the trends are? Some are hideous looking. Wear what makes you feel good and affordable.

I'm 5'2", 125 pounds, 56 yrs old. Sadly, I just can't pull off a lot dresses, skirts and shorts. Though I work out, my legs have veins and cellulite. But you have amazing legs! So if I had your legs, I'd wear all those clothes. And I must have large hips or bones bc I cannot get my body into a size 4 anymore 😢. It's hard seeing my body change so drastically.
I understand! Although my weight hasn't changed, my butt has gotten flatter and all that "fluff" has migrated north & now creates my belly pooch. I'm still exercising, eating the same but things have shifted. It's really frustrating.
My mother always says that the styles come back around. My husband, then boyfriend, in 1984, bought me a dress like this but the pockets were different.
At "over 50" I have earned the right to wear what ever I want and so have you!

I LOVED the denim dress. Unfortunately, it has sold out 😢 That dress I would definitely wear. I’m going to be 64 in a few months. I’m very conservative. I wear mostly pants and tops, no cleavage. I only wear shorts at home. We’re all different.
Wear what u want! My 20 something daughters would never wear the green ruffle top! I think it’s perfectly age appropriate!
