I remember watching Larry Lamb's portrayal of Archie Mitchell and at the same time watching him as Mick Shipman in Gavin & Stacey and completely being struck by the differences of both characters. He's a brilliant actor - and his character - Archie Mitchell - was one of the best villains in EastEnders history. A cruel and calculating predator- bereft of any semblance of remorse or cognitive ability to even process the true extent and horror of his multitude of crimes. Larry Lamb even based the character on his father - so you can just imagine the difficulties of such a role. Nevertheless - he's a wonderful actor.
Bit weird watching something years after the other together that had the same actor. Instead of that essay you could have just said he was in Gavin and Stacey later on as Mick Shipman. Too much waffling on n jibber jabber
What a vile character Archie Mitchell was one of most iconic villains on the show. It would have being interested if we saw a Archie Mitchell vs Den Watts feud in same period because both are similar in many ways.
What he did to Ronnie was the cruellest, most evilest thing going. What i noticed about him and Ronnie was that he always kept trying to win her over, but when she didn't comply, he would say or do some really cruel stuff as revenge. Now, if Roxy ever said something hurtful to him or not comply, he just let her get away with it. Ronnie knew how to push his buttons and i think only Ronnie could truly hurt him and he hated it
As I've said before, Archie made an absolute mug out of Phil & exposed him worse than anyone. Phil kept threatening to kill him & Archie called his bluff everytime, Phil ended up hitting the bottle, fell out with Peggy because he bottled killing Archie after she specifically asked him to then Archie took the Vic off them & Phil even stood there doing nothing the night Archie kicked them all out after Archie pushed Ronnie over in front of him, then the whole Mitchell clan walked peacefully out of the pub with their tails between their legs. I'm sorry but Phil's "I'm the Walford don" image was seriously damaged during the whole Archie period of the show, Archie made a fool of him. They want to be grateful Stacey killed him because he had the Mitchells beaten tbh. Archie was a great character.
@@JoshuaDillon03 True, the last person to make a mug out of the Mitchell's when Grant was around was Jason Cox in 1992, and Archie was nowhere near as powerful as Cox.
@@JoshuaDillon03 Archie was a lot lot smarter than all of them. He got inside Sean's head who is probably an even bigger nutter than Grant. Grant has never been put to the test in that way. The show may try to make you believe Grant would do this or that but then will put things in his way to stop him going so far. God knows we've seen enough proof of the show doing that with Phil throughout the years time & time again so why should Grant be any different?
In all fairness to Phil, the producers during this period watered him down to the point where the likes of Christian Clark got the better of Phil without serious repercussions.
Many people seem to forget also that he tried to even bump his own granddaughter off to keep her quiet. He really was the worst of the worst. Raping his own daughter, trying to kill his granddaughter, then pretty much drove her to be killed later on, then killed his unborn grandchild by making Ronnie miscarry. Plus all the other stuff he did and he was definitely the most evil villain EE ever had
The whole business with Archie should’ve been when Grant returned. I know Archie was his uncle as well as Phil’s. But Grant would’ve made sure he’d killed Archie on Peggys bequest
Great villain Larry done a great job acting the part the one thing I hate what they did with the storyline though was killing Bradley off when he wasn't the killer if wasn't for Archie and what he did to Stacey as Becca calling the police Bradley would be alive I know Charlie wanted to move on but they should have had him leave without Stacey and possibly return in the future bad decision to kill him off
Archie was one of those super villains who I didn't enjoy hating in the slightest, as I genuingley HATED the character. Derek was also very bad, but at least he never raped his kids, and tbh Derek was quite entertaining to watch at times
@@ellajackson4272I can see why it was easy to think that but archie said when they met up again that she betrayed him by going with Joel and getting pregnant. It was pretty sick if you listen to his words, cause he sounded like a jealous scorned lover not a protective father. I knew from his very first episode that he did something to her
Yh, not heard much of Clive though (the third Mitchell brother) but yh with Eric, he was phisically abusive (mostly towards Phil and Peggy) but never laid a finger on Sam, but at least he didn't rape any of his kids growing up, yes he was violent but he was no rapist. Archie on the other hand, did rape one of his kids ( Ronnie) not only once, but several times and he did so many other stuff that was so evil and dark, that I dread to go into detail but then again, all three of the brothers themselves were physically abused by their dad, as their dad never once showed them love, all Grandpa Phillip EVER knew was to be a violent bully towards the three and to his wife and the fact that Archie told Phil that Eric told him at their dad's funeral "good riddance to bad rubbish" speaks volumes

He was a great villain. One of the best the show ever had.
Number 2 behind Den in my view
Chris Rowe and Johnny Allen
Dan Sullivan was the best villain in my eyes Archie was second and Steve Owen was third.
Trevor Morgan the most underrated villain straight truth
Den was the best
Watching Archie’s actor as a villain is mad as I first seen him on Gavin and Stacy
julie nowlin same here
Same
Archie mitchel is Michael shipmans evil twin confermed, 😂😂😂
My god thanks so much it was driving me mad what else I've seen him in
he was also in the movie Buster! great movie from 1988 also starring Phil collins!
nicest man you could ever meet. playing one of the worst people on tv
Have you met him?
Dominic Wileman key word to that is accused
Dominic Wileman Yh but he wasn’t bullying, he was putting Martin in his place because he was a cocky wee prick
Archie was a good villain

Iconic era of EE. Probably the last of the best.

@@flight101 Not really mate!
Archie was a good villain, but let's face it he deserved to die in the end.
He was absolutely amazing
He’s definitely one of the best villains the show ever had.
Can't believe this was all nearly 10 years ago
Fifteen years now
*"it's the last thing you expect to find when you come into work in the morning"*
"Is that it?"
Archie well and truly owned Phil in their Feud even Peggy called Phil out on him not being able to get Archie out of their lives.
One of the best actors eastenders has had!
Love this clip, the Mitchell's were a good family - entertaining to watch!!
Archie makes my skin crawl
you can tell jack still loves and cares about Ronnie the way he stare down her useless dad

Archie, was one of the best villains in Eastenders.
One of my favourite eastenders villains
He along with Stella are my top 2 most evil villains. Great acting from Larry Lamb!
Pauly B not Janine?
@@theeastendboy Janine is also an evil villain, but I have a really hard time watching Stella and Archie at their worse.
@paulyb7267 yeah Janine was the sort of villain who I enjoyed hating, as Eastenders has always been set to fail Janine in the funniest way possible 😂
I don't think I'd ever seen that you had uploaded this, great video!
RandomUploads2017 thanks mate
The Classic Mr Mitchell.
Fantastic actor playing a nasty abusive person and then a funny caring dad in gavin and stacey
Maxie Brostee I watched him as Mick shipman before Archie Mitchell and it fucked with my head when I first saw him in eastbenders
He was also in buster 😊
Larry Lamb is such a great versatile actor. What a legend.

Archie was just like Scar, the evil uncle from The Lion King 😂
His character was twisted but he got extremely well with Peggy, Ronnie, Roxy and Phil In real life.

So crazy watching Larry Lamb like this and then as Mick Shipman in Gavin and Stacey 🤣
Only a truly talented actor can make you hate a character this much
One of the greatest villains on EastEnders history
The best villian in the history of EastEnders
Larry Lamb is such an underrated actor 👏
Top class Villain! Up their With Derek Branning!
Derek Branning? 🤣🤣 That guy was a joke. A character fitting of an Eastenders that was well past it's best by then.
Archie wasn’t a Villian he was just a nasty person he wasn’t like Johnny Alan or Hack Dalton or Angel
A nasty person and villain is the same.
@1977Suspiria I agree Derek didn't do much but he was still awesome to watch.
The whole business with Archie should’ve been when Grant returned. I know Archie was his uncle as well as Phil’s. But Grant would’ve made sure he’d killed Archie on Peggys bequest
Archie is so evil how he speaks to Ronnie fucking hell
Yh poor Ron didn’t deserved that
8:43 - Will's boss from the garage in the Inbetweeners!
Well spotted
I remember Larry Lamb was in Silent Witness and Eastenders and Gavin and Stacey. he played as Archie Mitchell and Mick Shipman
I remember Larry Lamb was in EastEnders and Gavin and Stacey and Silent Witness and New Tricks
Larry lamb was the perfect villain funny because he's such a gentleman
Archie Was A Family Mitchell.
Hes the only well written actor they ever had
After watching each Mitchell member vs the square now we are watching an villain of the Mitchell's.
Archie
Phil Mitchell is the best actor in eastenders, he's there since 1990, he's a very good actor
He was also brilliant in rise of the footsoldier
Why did archie mentioned frank butcher but he doesn't know him
Ronnie Mitchell ( his daughter)
This is archie Mitchell's line up
He was the worst villain the show ever had.
Does anyone have the scene where Archie catche's Suzy steeling money from the safe
Now it's the final chapter for him
Great villain Larry done a great job acting the part the one thing I hate what they did with the storyline though was killing Bradley off when he wasn't the killer if wasn't for Archie and what he did to Stacey as Becca calling the police Bradley would be alive I know Charlie wanted to move on but they should have had him leave without Stacey and possibly return in the future bad decision to kill him off
Joel Reynolds ( for getting back at ronnie )
Peggy Ronnie Jack and Bradley
Larry Lamb who played Archie is a good actor
Phil Mitchell , peggy's son ( for his mum)
Peggy Mitchell, his wife ( by standing up to him)
H I was younger crying but she didn't EVEN KNOW WHAT SHE WANTED TO DO WITH HER OWN LIFE AND THEN SHE SAID CALL HIMSELF
Jack is amazing x ❤️
Archie Mitchell was an evil, vile man. Hard to hate him when he's played by the legend Larry Lamb!
archie evil maninputaive man he took ronne and roxy lifes twisted turn
Shame he wasn’t like Mick in Gavin and Stacey.
Janine butcher ( for blackmail)
Joel was the first ever derek branning
Larry Lamb great actor
the only good thing he did was protecting ben from phil
Ronnie wouldn't be anywhere near Archie
BBC Classic Villain EastEnders 😈
Ruined Christmas Again
Archie is so cruel.
Lord knows how Archie and Glenda where Ronnie and Roxys parents They never even met never mind slept together
Archie was one of those super villains who I didn't enjoy hating in the slightest, as I genuingley HATED the character.
Derek was also very bad, but at least he never raped his kids, and tbh Derek was quite entertaining to watch at times
12:03 😂😂
Larry The lamb 🐑
Hell most probably rise from the grave like den Watts
10:08 gor blimey :P
The real bad ass of eastenders was johnny allen
Archie Mitchell was horrible but Larry Lamb was a lovely man in Gavin & Stacey he’s down to earth compared to Archie Mitchell
ronnie ex joel was fit
That bit was stupid when bradly punched him and archie sed my tooth s gon all wobbly why did he need to say that it's gest confusing
In fact,I thought Archie raped her but when she got pregnant from her boyfirend and gave birth later,Archie took the baby for adoption.
Same I always thought Archie was the father for some reason.

So glad that it was Stacey who killed Archie in the end
she had more bottle than Phil did lol.
Archie was a bad man nobody liked him this was before Danielle michell got knocked over by Janines car 🚗 Janine knocked Danielle michell over
Definitely worse than Eric and Clive
