I wouldn't say phil was a narcissist either or that vulnerable. He was only vulnerable when he was drinking, which happens in alcoholism. Yeah, Archie was a classic sociopath not a psychopath really
Archie was up there with Nick Cotton in terms of the most evil characters ever in EastEnders. Neither of them had any redeeming qualities. He was like Josef Fritzl.
I noticed Phil always struggled in feuds with people who weren't hard but who were intelligent and quite manipulative. Archie, den, gavin, steve outsmarted him a lot at times and even andy to at one time. Phil is clever himself at times but some of these guys just knew how to wind him up and get in his head. Even james willmott brown and dean wicks weren't bothered about him.

Phil definitely didn’t ‘win’ this feud. He kept threatening to kill Archie but was never going to do it, and Archie was able to keep winding him up and calling his bluff. The whole experience badly damaged his relationship with Peggy, and caused him to go off the rails and hit the bottle again. Archie’s death of course had nothing to do with him. One of the rare feuds since Steve McFadden’s return from his break in 2005, that Phil didn’t ‘win’.
