She’d be dragged to the doctors kicking and screaming but only as an outpatient or on someone else’s call (usually a concerned/vexed neighbour) if she was forced to stay there. A parent with severe bipolar disorder can disown their relatives for life if they section them (Frank Bruno didn’t speak to one of his daughters for years and years when she had to make that inevitable tough call). That was mostly why.
