    In this video I challenged myself to Build, Paint and Base an ENTIRE Warhammer Age of Sigmar Army in the Scariest and most Horrific theme I could in 24hrs!
    This Nighthaunt Army was part of my pile of shame and the painting challenge was used as painting motivation to paint these amazing miniatures. It took me approximately 24hrs to Build, Paint and Part base them, I took an extra hour add to some of the bases.
    I managed this feat by speed painting/batch painting the entire army - painting models and focusing on the same colours on each model until they were all done. This way of painting is super efficient and quick!
    I used a mixture of Citadel Contrast Paints to lay down some base layers of colour, over a zenithal highlight colour. I then used some Enamel Paints, some Oils paints and Citadel Technical paints to weather the models and make them look grimy and more realistic - ie Grimdark. This style is also called Blanchitsu, which is named after the legendary Warhammer Artist John Blanche. I then used a selection of Inks to do an OSL - object source lighting effect/ glow effect on the models with flames or candles.
    If you like the guide then please subscribe! Its free and motivates me to make more videos. Why not use the guide to paint your own miniatures and get rid of your own backlog/pile of shame.
    Covered in this guide - How to -
    -paint rusty weapons
    -blood
    -grim dark style
    -autumnal bases
    In this guide I paint 105 models! -

    This channel is about painting converting and kitbashing miniatures for your warhammer & d&d games, Age of sigmar, warhammer 40k games and Necromunda. I will maybe paint Space Marines, Space Wolves, Stormcast Eternals, cities of sigmar, chaos space marines, painting scale models or miniature busts in the future. I've done how to paint guides you could use them for how to paint d&D I may do a conversion guide for Darktide or Dark tide however it is spelled. And in the future I will build and paint some terrain for my miniature war gaming wargaming hobby. I will be painting up the Dominion Box too!

    You assembled over 100 models in four hours! At the 24 hour mark I'd have still been sat there meticulously scraping away mould lines 😂

    • @SlayerMiniatures
      @SlayerMiniatures  3 роки тому +34

      Yeah 4.5 hours! I was on a mission. Because it was all unbuilt it was more efficient, say for the Chainrasps..I built 5 of the same model and scraped all 5 of the same lines so it was quick to find where they were. Most boring stage though ha!

      There is no way anyone can do a good job of mold line removing and gap filling in 4.5 hours. Just get rid of the biggest ones once the entire model is assembled.
      4.5 hours is 270 minutes. 2 minutes 42 seconds per model to cut it from a sprue, glue it up and place it in a base.
      Even for troops this is extremely fast - for me probably just cutting it accurately would take 2-3 minutes. And for bigger models? Impossible. It's just unrealistic.
      Either he rushed through it doing a fast and lousy job for a youtube video and then cherrypick the footage... Or it took him way, waaaay longer than that and he is lying to have a nice clickbait title.
      Midwinter minis when doing his necrons claimed they spent several weeks on assembly alone, doing 2-3 hours here and there. And you mean to say you can do it in 3 minutes per model? Get outta here! No "mission" or determination gives you those results. 😮

    Back in the late 80's and early 90's there was a sieres of books that showcased ghost storys with dark artwork. This army has that "feal" to it and is what I was looking for my own Nighthaunt army. The only thing I would do differently is no oil wash, just nuln oil and a drybrush of a hexwrathe maybe.

    If you wanted to go faster on the bone, a technique Marco uses on his cursed city skeletons is just a thick burnt umber oil wash over a white (then clean most of it off). I’ve done it and it’s super super easy.
    With oil washes, it’s often better to batch paint applying all the washes to a single model at once (I even use different brushes to avoid contamination too much), and adding another color/area adds maybe 5 seconds per model or something. It’s great!

    • @SlayerMiniatures
      @SlayerMiniatures  2 роки тому

      Cheers for that tip I'll give it a go! When you apply all the washes at the same time does it not mix?

    I dont know what it is, i think its probably the aphex twin selected ambient works vol2 esque music, but i absolutely love your grimdark videos, the slow pace just feels atmospheric, i actually bought a chaos marine army after watching your vids to paint using elements of your grim dark style with my own style. bravo.

    Also, imagine if this style was on the cover of Warhammer Age of Sigmar 4 Edition this summer! Why not, can I dream?
    And I believe this is very possible: because the new Old World turned out to be not such a grimdark with this shining Good against boring Evil. And there is always a hunger for Grimdark in the community!

    PSA: Oil washes are great if you want a gritty look such as for this army, but forget about using it on models when a clean look is desired. You can see the pigments. Awesome army!

    • @SlayerMiniatures
      @SlayerMiniatures  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks, they turned out quite well. I wouldn't necessarily agree with this as it depends how you apply them. And how thin/thick the oil wash is. Check out Elminiturista ua-cam.com/channels/LNwkLh6qpHPIp4y2pxGPMw.html he uses oils for recesses and they are super, super clean! Check him out if you haven't
