      I stopped making excuses this weekend, sat down and said I wasn't standing up until Lauka Vai was done. Best model I've ever done, including my first time doing NMM and OSL, and it was all done in one shot (minus drying time).

    You assembled over 100 models in four hours! At the 24 hour mark I'd have still been sat there meticulously scraping away mould lines 😂

    • @SlayerMiniatures
      @SlayerMiniatures  3 роки тому +37

      Yeah 4.5 hours! I was on a mission. Because it was all unbuilt it was more efficient, say for the Chainrasps..I built 5 of the same model and scraped all 5 of the same lines so it was quick to find where they were. Most boring stage though ha!

      There is no way anyone can do a good job of mold line removing and gap filling in 4.5 hours. Just get rid of the biggest ones once the entire model is assembled.
      4.5 hours is 270 minutes. 2 minutes 42 seconds per model to cut it from a sprue, glue it up and place it in a base.
      Even for troops this is extremely fast - for me probably just cutting it accurately would take 2-3 minutes. And for bigger models? Impossible. It's just unrealistic.
      Either he rushed through it doing a fast and lousy job for a youtube video and then cherrypick the footage... Or it took him way, waaaay longer than that and he is lying to have a nice clickbait title.
      Midwinter minis when doing his necrons claimed they spent several weeks on assembly alone, doing 2-3 hours here and there. And you mean to say you can do it in 3 minutes per model? Get outta here! No "mission" or determination gives you those results. 😮

  • @tomcrayford2360

    If you wanted to go faster on the bone, a technique Marco uses on his cursed city skeletons is just a thick burnt umber oil wash over a white (then clean most of it off). I’ve done it and it’s super super easy.
    With oil washes, it’s often better to batch paint applying all the washes to a single model at once (I even use different brushes to avoid contamination too much), and adding another color/area adds maybe 5 seconds per model or something. It’s great!

    • @SlayerMiniatures
      @SlayerMiniatures  3 роки тому

      Cheers for that tip I'll give it a go! When you apply all the washes at the same time does it not mix?

    @LylaMev recently did a video on NMM stormcast, and she suggested using coffee filters for making the leaves, since the paint soaks through the filter and won't leave (ha ha) a white edge around the leaf.

      Oh right, great idea, unfortunately all my coffee filters are brown and I wanted autumnal coloured leaves, also white edges aren't a problem with these as I put a dab of oil wash on top to blend it in to the bases. Thanks for the tip though!

    Stunning effort! The blood effect looked a little OTT at first, but dulled after drying.

      Yeah the drying helped alot, and I've hit it with a matte varnish since and it helped alot too

    Also, imagine if this style was on the cover of Warhammer Age of Sigmar 4 Edition this summer! Why not, can I dream?
    And I believe this is very possible: because the new Old World turned out to be not such a grimdark with this shining Good against boring Evil. And there is always a hunger for Grimdark in the community!

      There would be awesome! But probably 'too scary' for mainstream! Ha. They don't want to scare customers 🤣

      @@SlayerMiniatures True. I should probably get them before that Soulwars Box has been gone so long prices rise.
