This is a fascinating aspect of the show to highlight. I thought it added something unique to the overall story. I've always found faith appealing, partly because I've never found a religion that worked for me. I kind of envy people with faith. It's not that I have no faith, or no interest in the metaphysical, it's just that all the major faiths have flaws in their application. There are lessons to take from each of them, but no single faith has quite worked for me. I do find the idea of predetermination utterly depressing; chance and unfolding are far more attractive concepts. I suspect I'll always be searching. I have thoroughly enjoyed these essays. There's plenty of material in DS9 so I look forward to your future posts.
