    I used to do the break, before I learned properly the seamless experience of the middle voice.
    Ive always noticed most prof vocalists dont usually posses a developed mixed voice.
    Bel canto has helped me with range, but still the MIXED development was overlooked. This was forcing me to avoid, subconsciously certain keys and styles, really handicapped me. Chest and head MUST have the bridge.
    So grateful for you!!!! Thank you ⚘🙏🏻🧡🎤🎶

    I think that knowing how to use that type of placement in your voice doesn’t make you a better singer as such BUT it surely allows diversity in the way you could interpret a song

    The flow phonation feels or hears more like a vibration to me. This is a fantastic unpicking of what I've also noticed... It's about starting a song in the flow and then building on the beginning.
    I feel like The Weeknd does the flow throughout in his songs...
    I also feel like all the singing lessons I have had to achieve connection and depth in my mix and higher registers have almost stifled what I already had naturally. 😞

    Tyler can you do a video giving any strategies on when the connection breaks in mixed voice. You don't seem to have this problem, but for me to go light and mix, there seems to be a transference of muscles that don't allow me to stay there and want to flip into head voice!
    Many thanks for the great insights!

    I’m starting to get back into singing because when I sang it my voice felt so tight it would burn after singing for a couple minutes and I wouldn’t be loud either, even talking for too long would hurt. So I stopped for a long time. I’m starting again after a couple years and my voice isn’t as elastic as before, it’s like scratchy crackles a bit. But there’s a bit more freedom in my voice now than before. I just struggle with my mix. Have a big range but feels like a piano with broken keys and needing a good tune up 😆

    Hi Tyler, I apologize for using this channel to ask you. I was thinking of buying one of your courses (the Mixed Voice one) and I would like to know if it contains any kind of subtitles, even if they are in English, or a transcript, since I don't understand much English when I listen to it, but I understand it perfectly when I read to it. I take this opportunity to congratulate you for your work on UA-cam, and I leave you my cordial greetings. Thank you !

    What I hear :
    breathy phonation = bad falsetto,
    flow phonation = basic good placement for voice
    so why the new terms ?

    Great video, the only frustrating thing is that every contemporary voice teacher uses different terminology. But they're really just talking about classical terms, which everyone already understands. Maybe its just me, but instead of "flow phonation" can we just say legato? lol. minor qualm though.

    • @tylerwysong
      @tylerwysong  2 роки тому +2

      I am always willing to throw my terminology out the window for the student I'm working ith. I could care less what you call it as long as it is getting you the right result. Unfortunately the singing world is a terminology minefield .

    • @RyanofRose
      @RyanofRose 2 роки тому

      @@tylerwysong it absolutely is hahaha. I also find that some students respond differently depending on the term so I try to pay attention to my individual students needs. Was mostly commenting because I laughed out loud hearing yet another new singing term to describe a familiar concept haha. Great stuff though, I subscribed!

      Flow phonation comes from voice science and pedagogy, it is not specific to CCM styles. Legato is a more general musical concept (qualitative), whereas flow phonation refers to specific/measurable relationships of pressure and flow (quantitative) in singing.

    Good video man ❤️
    I think the key for singing softly is simply to sing quietly, i'm saying this only because some people might think that what you're doing is releasing all that air without a minimum closure.

    • @tylerwysong
      @tylerwysong  2 роки тому +2

      I am actually going for no resistance here. I’m not focused on closure at all. But that is simply just this exercise using it as a range of motion.

    Hi Tyler,
    5:18 "The buzzy resonance is something that you hear rather than feel". Does that mean when you sing in mix voice, your throat feels nothing? The breathy tone is easy to go up because my throat is not bound by the buzzy feeling. Suddenly everything starts to make sense if the "mix voice" is just to produce buzzy sound without buzzy feeling, then you can go up as high as you want! It start to make sense in my mind and I can not do it yet. I am not sure if it is the correct understanding.

    I have tried lots of exercises from sirens to
    humming,the odd time
    I hit a4 still with no break.I sing lead in Barbershop where pitch
    and note alignment are
    everything do you have any thoughts on how to
    go past this break, where I don't break the note I am singing just stays the same.

    What about mix with compressed vocal cords and high subglottal pressure without any air. Like when you use vocal fry and then add your voice. Is it bad? Cause I'm really confused about things: amount of air in a mix configuration, compression, cord closure etc. How to sing high notes without any harm to your voice. Because sometimes after singing B4 - E5 my falsetto becomes hoarse and vocal fry is not same quality. Thank you, Tyler :)

    • @tylerwysong
