Brad Vickers redeemed himself by staying behind in order to buy Jill time for her escape. What he did is actually quite impressive. Especially concidering the fact that he acted so cowardly back in RE1: He managed to overcome the fear of certain death (which many people concider the greatest fear) and chose to stay behind to keep those zombies at bay for as long as he can. There's an alternative cutscene in the original RE3 were Carlos encounters Murphy (the UBCS soldier who gets killed by Nicholai): Murphy turns into a zombie walks slowly towards Carlos and begs to be killed by him. Which Carlos does eventually, but it was anything but easy for him. I like it that Capcom decided to show something similar with Brad and Marvin and what happens if one hasitates, which in turn explains Marvins mistake from which he wanted to save Leon in RE2 when he gave him the combat knife.
I'll always remember Brad as the zombie who hung out just under & outside the front door of the RPD in Resident Evil 2. Wether he was made that way by a random zombie or by Nemesis depends on which version you like better.
HmmI liked the version of him with Nemesis due to the impact to the storyline but I liked how it shows how Marvin became infected by a Talking zombified Brad
I hate how they call him chicken when he flew away in the original, my guy was going back to the RPD to get the tyrant destroyer, aka rocket launcher. A true hero in my eyes.
Once again you are killing my sides with spot on edits! Haha.. pretty ironic, if he ran away he still would have been a chicken but at least Marvin would still be kicking..
Everyone is surprised that Brad talked but I'm more surprised that he went to the police station making me think that he survived the ordeal in the bar. Otherwise it would point out that zombies are capable of remembering which i doubt. I feel Brad made it to the station but ended up turning on Marvin.
Awesome job bro! You always organize your content so well. It’s always great watching your vids. What would you think about a Brad Vickers “escape scenario” dlc added to RE3make? I feel like that would intense and a cool nod off to him
I pledged the Resident Evil 1 boardgame on Kickstarter and we are going to use Brad a lot when we roleplay. You always have to have a coward on the team.....
Thanks again for another great RE Video Hey Devuh. As i´m not from an english speaking country, it`s sometimes hard to put my thoughts into words, but I will try, because an idea/interpretation just entered my mind, after watching this vid, that i did not had before. So if this thougt is no news to you RE3 Remake Gamers out there, well... "i am sorry." ;) Regarding the Brad Vickers "Sorry" scene in front of the RPD, at first i thougt: "What is this? Speaking Zombies? Didn`t ask for that... *insert rant blabla rant*" I did not like it at all, even some similar things had happend before like the "itchy-tasty"-note in RE1. But as i just watched that scene again, and as Devuh mentioned in his Vid, Brad must had felt terrible after the events of the first RE1 and his guilt of leaving his teammates behind in the horrors of the arclay mountains. After the mansion incident he for sure had a hard time dealing with himself because of his guilt. I don`t know about you guys, but i can say that i did some things in my life i am not proud of and which i regret and would not do again. Some of this stuff, even if it happend years and years ago... Well i can say for sure that i`m still working on some of that. So it crossed my mind, that maybe, because of all the guilt he felt, this really was the last thought that still remaind in his zombified brain. The overwhelming and unforgiving feeling that he was sorry, even when everything else that made him human left his body, he still felt that absolut dark sadness of his soul. He truly was "sorry".
14:49 In general the RE3 remake didn't do The Nemesis very well. In the original RE3 the threat of him felt like it was always looming and you always dreaded that he was still out there hunting Jill. But in the remake he felt like just another monster instead of the biggest danger in the game. His second mutation in the remake felt like a ripoff of William's RE2 4th form. Jill actually having to lift the rail cannon and shoot Nemesis with it in the final battle was stupid and not as good as her luring him in front of it in the original.
Why did no one in the resi series ever catch on that bringing a rocket launcher along from the beginning of the mission was an essential piece of kit lol
Eh as someone who has never played the original games I think they should've kept Brad as Brad instead of trying to make his character something he isn't. I think it's refreshing to have a not so heroic Stars member unlike all the rest
Good in depth analysis of brad but tbh u cant deny the amount of cut content in this game which just dissapoints me they did such an amazing job with every single thing and detail but if they added all the details of re 3 and stuff like that it would be the best game of the decade
My name is Brad and my best friend is Chris. He used to bug me as kids that his character is better than mine. My favourite character is Claire but I always hoped for more character development for Brad I did really like the cutscene with Marvin in re3 remake. And at least he knew he was doomed and told Jill to run.
Great video!! I guess my wish of you making a vid about Brad it came true in the end, so thanks again for it. Call me crazy but since RE3 I found him interesting enough to pick my curiosity and ask myself what the hell was Brad doing during the months after RE1 happened, and when RE3 (2020) came it made sense to see that he believed his teammates (after all he witnessed Joseph get mauled by a pack Cerberus) but he feared he might loose his source of income for him/his family. Maybe he did some minor research in favor of Jill and company, maybe he didn’t, but I like to believe he tried to redeem himself in eyes of his former teammates. And the little addition on that pizza note is great, “stars team now and forever” and “are we still a team?” let you know he really cared at the end, but couldn’t be brave by x, y or z. He is and always be one of my favorite secondary characters of RE series ❤️ it was heartbreaking seeing him all transformed by his infection and still be able to show some remorse seconds before attacking Marvin. PS: Jesus I can’t get enough of those Marvin and other character’s clips, I was literally howling while watching. Please never drop those 🤣🤣🤣
You're absolutely welcome, I'm super happy that you enjoyed the clips and especially that Marvin Stare LOL. Also well said with Brad and his lore in between RE1 and the Outbreak in Raccoon city. Anyway let me know if there is any other Character you're interested and I'll try to cover it, but besides that much more to come in the future.
@@HeYDeVuH thank you so much for answering in such a cool way!! You always do, and that’s something us viewers appreciate a lot ❤️ for now I don’t have any other request other than “please continue with what you do, it’s great”, since you already covered the Ashford twins (which btw phenomenal videos!!) and even a little of their family history
I think "Chicken nugget" would make a new great nickname for Brad in the terrible remake since not even a minute from rendezvous with Jill he becomes a tasty treat for the zombies
The Original Brad was better on the sole purpose he brought tension and suspense on how serious the situation was for the originals. His REmake 3 counterpart wasn’t scared of Nemesis at all. He was watered down for my taste. They should’ve stuck to his original story and let Nemesis be the one to take him out.
To be honest i think how Brad dies in Re3make was an fineral act. Him saying "Sorry..." in breathless voice was him losing control and him saying sorry was his fineral act into turning into zombie. after that he "roars" as a zombie. Zombies are mindless creatures. Its likely he said sorry in his dieing last breath....then he was a full zombie that trys to attack Carlos. I don't think they break the zombie lore/ resient evil lore when the creators made the remake. I think "sorry..." was the last thing that Brad did before turning into the undead. He got say say sorry to his friend sorry for leaving them in Re1 and sorry fr biting Mathens arm..
Hey Devah, congratulations on yet another great video, loved it! To answer your question about which version of Brad I liked most, I must say... Although I appreciate what the remake tried to do with his character, the deviation from his actual character and the over all tone set with Nemesis was too much for me and just like most of the retcons made in these remakes, I much more prefer the original.
Thank You very very much and I agree that the original gave us the impact of Nemesis early on and I wish we had that In Resident evil 3 remake, though I did enjoy the Brad and Marvin interaction as well. Anyway again thank you so much!!!
@@HeYDeVuH I definitely think they could have easily worked both in to the Remake..That scene with Marvin could have been right after the Nemesis scene from the original. At least, that's how it will exist in my head lol...I am honestly a big fan of your work and being a life long RE fan myself, I only wish I could help you make more RE videos. Keep up the great work!
A little off topic but who is the man on the photo at 6:27 ? He looks a lot like Neil from Revelations 2 but that makes no sense. Is it known who he is?
I always thought Brad had a crush on Jill. To me this is implied in the remake of RE3, and the way he sacrifices himself to save her. I don't think Brad would have done that for just any of his teammates. I believe he stayed in Raccoon City because of Jill. He knew he messed up, and her opinion of him mattered to her. He knew if he heroically went down trying to save her, just maybe he might redeem himself in her eyes.
I liked the original, but There was no redeeming Brad. He had way to many cowardly acts! And he attacked my boy Marvin. Chicken heart was to nice of a name for Brad.
Another sad story. I remember Brad from the first RE. Now Umbrella is pissed at S.T.A.R.S. members for outing they little dirty secrets. They sent a Tyron to finish off the members. Brad is no longer a Chicken Heart. It’s Brave Heart. That damn evil Chief Irons got what he deserve.
I like both versions. I'm not a fan of lore changes as it causes unessasary cognitive dissonance n puts us in a quandry trying to find the 'fictional truth,' so here's a loose hybridization theory: Brad gets chewed at the bar as seen in both versions. *Jill visits RPD, Nemi kills Brad, Carlos calls STARS office, Jill leaves RPD, later Carlos n Tyrel visit RPD, Brad has recovered sort of and turned Zombo, he chews Marvin, Carlos n Tyrel visit STARS office.* Thevabove sequence I am sure can harmonize the 2 versions. Only obvious contradiction I see is in RE3 OG Jill sees Marvin sleeping and it'd contradict the theory but as it's nothing more than a mini reference can probably ignore it. Thoughts???? I really think this could work. Anything that harmonizes and avoids choosing 1 over the other has to win IMO.
Totally understand what you mean. I had someone mention that the two versions are completely different timelines or maybe Universe. Though that would be way beyond the realm of Resident Evil. Also Jill seeing Marvin at the West wing Office could pass of as a Reference as you said.
So, what was Brad's option realistically in RE1, land in an open area and attract all of the Cerberus' as the team tries to leave and then they get eaten? Even if they went in just to recollect themselves in preparation of picking off the dogs (with little to no ammo) before making a run for it, if one of the group went off and then Wesker did his little plot, then that's already out of Brad's hands as I doubt the rest of the team would want to leave up and leave. Ok I'm going to watch the rest of this now, I just wanted to say that at least for the events of RE1 I don't think he had many options lol
That's a good point, other comments have mentioned that his reaction can be seen as reasonable after witnessing his comrade get attacked by infected Cerberuses' like that
They done him dirty in the remake. They done a lot dirty in the remake! How can you REMAKE something, and produce something with LESS content?! It is against metaphysics!
You remember in the first resident evil 2. If you made it to the police station without picking up any items. You seen brad down the stairs under the police entrance zombified
Brad is a good character but for some reason ( correct me if I'm wrong ) but for some reason he's not reliable. He doesn't get praise or love from his team that's why they kill him off early in part 3
@@HeYDeVuH correct me if I'm wrong but he's not dependable. He leave them at the arkley mountain because they taught they were dead which is the reason why he say he wants nothing to do with this mission ( So I heard according to the comic book version I read ) but still , he's just a pilot or I wonder if weaker ordered him to leave them as planned because weaker really wants to get rid of the stars team as it said in resident evil 0 version of the game . I mean I did some research about him and to tell you the truth it's really sad seeing brad in this situation
I didn't like Nemesis didn't kill Brad in RE3 Remake but I like that Marvin was bitten by him that was a good touch instead having other zombies bit Marvin and infected him.
Both versions had their good and bad. I wish we could have had Brad Still be attacked by Nemesis and possibly injured, Causing him to be infected. Then later on he would succumb to his injuries then attack Marvin as seen in RE3 Remake.
3:00 WTF, Brad! What you scared for?! You in the damn helicopter! Even though Brad came back to save his team members, I would still be mad. Like once everyone was in a safe setting (aka no more zombies and bio weapons walking around), it's on sight. 🏃🏿♀️ We fighting.
I like how they handled Brad in RE3 Brad messed up and deserved a Redemption arch, it does not matter how he dies thought "the man is not in the union anymore "- Scream 2
10:04 Original Brad got what he deserved for his cowardice IMO. He left his teammates to fend for themselves in a dangerous forest and mansion and only came back to help out of last minute guilt and shame. At least remake Brad helps Jill before he's bitten and turned.
Brad Vickers doesn't get much credit in the Resident Evil series, we barely get to see him in Resident Evil 1 or it's remake, this also happens in RE 3 Nemesis and it's remake as well, he definitely is a "chicken heart" by nature but ultimately redeemed himself, by saving Jill, Chris, Barry, and Rebecca from the Spencer Mansion, however Brad would ultimately meet his in Resident Evil 3 Nemesis during the Raccoon City outbreak, he is killed by the Nemesis tyrant for simply being a S.T.A.R.S. survivor of the Spencer Masion, in the Resident Evil 3 remake Brads end is a bit different, after S.T.A.R.S. got disbanded by RPD police chief Brian Irons Brad was secretly helping Jill investigate Umbrella, Brad called Jill telling he to get out of her apartment now, but Nemesis showed up and started to go after her, she managed to temporarily escape Nemesis and find Brad and started to follow him up to Jack's bar, they tried to hold back a swarm of zombies though the door, but Brad got bit and told Jill to run and not make the same mistake he did, she ran and wasn't able to see Brad ever again, we don't see Brad again until we play as Carlos and go to the RPD, we see a zombified Brad going after Marvin and he tries to talk to talk to him and says he's sorry for attacking, Brad also says he's sorry to but a second later he attacks Marvin's stomach, he fully turned into a zombie and was put down for good by Carlos, Brad Vickers deserves credit for saving his fellow S.T.A.R.S. team members from the Spencer Mansion, also for helping Jill investigate Umbrella in the Resident Evil 3 remake, thank you for covering Brad Vickers one of the most underrated characters in the the Resident Evil series, you gave him a great video HeY DeVuH well done ✊

I like it that Capcom decided to show something similar with Brad and Marvin and what happens if one hasitates, which in turn explains Marvins mistake from which he wanted to save Leon in RE2 when he gave him the combat knife.
Marvin Branagh: uh uuuhaaa.... (menacing stare)
Jill Valentine: it's broken
Those Marvin close ups had me weak
Marvin wasn't having it lol
If RE3 Remake had more development time, we may have gotten Brad's original death scene.
Very true, also maybe we could have gotten more from the Clock Tower area as well
@@HeYDeVuH And the RC Central Park too.
If you get hold of Brad's diary he explains how he is being chased by nemesis throughout the city
Nice video dude! I love it!
Thank you so much, happy that you enjoyed the video.
1:58 man what is it with the edits xD keep em up
made my day
Another outstanding video thanks Hey DeVuH! I look forward to watching this video!!!😎👍👍
Thank you!!!
@@HeYDeVuH 😃👍
I hate how they call him chicken when he flew away in the original, my guy was going back to the RPD to get the tyrant destroyer, aka rocket launcher. A true hero in my eyes.
He help start that iconic ending with the Rocket Launcher.
Agreed haha
Once again you are killing my sides with spot on edits! Haha.. pretty ironic, if he ran away he still would have been a chicken but at least Marvin would still be kicking..
That's a good point, if he did run away and live up to his Chicken Heart moniker, Marvin would have probably still be alive in Remake.
A other good vidoe dude keep it up you rock
Everyone is surprised that Brad talked but I'm more surprised that he went to the police station making me think that he survived the ordeal in the bar. Otherwise it would point out that zombies are capable of remembering which i doubt. I feel Brad made it to the station but ended up turning on Marvin.
I don't care what anyone says he's always gonna be "Brad Chicken heart" in my mind 🐔❤️
Love the close ups of Marvin with his, "WTF??" face... 😂
LOL glad you enjoyed it, I think Marvin just had enough of everything with that face he gave
Awesome job bro! You always organize your content so well. It’s always great watching your vids. What would you think about a Brad Vickers “escape scenario” dlc added to RE3make? I feel like that would intense and a cool nod off to him
That'd be great to have a DLC dedicated for Brad. I'm sure they can work something to really make his character stand out better.
I pledged the Resident Evil 1 boardgame on Kickstarter and we are going to use Brad a lot when we roleplay. You always have to have a coward on the team.....
LOL he's the get out of jail free card LOL
🤣🤣🤣 love the Marvin mega meat pizza edit!!!
Thank You, glad you enjoyed that clip of Marvin just tired of everything already LOL
"i am sorry." ;)
Regarding the Brad Vickers "Sorry" scene in front of the RPD, at first i thougt: "What is this?
No worries, I understand what you mean. Yeah it was a shock factor to see him talk to Marvin after being infected.
NICE! I ain't no Chicken Heart!! Great stuff!
OG RE3 is the only real canon his death is iconic.
Man am I thankful I saved Resident Evil 2 for the N64 definitely the best out of the others because of all the added files and notes.
Yeah it's nice we got extra content in that version
That was the first Resident evil game I played. Been hooked ever since!
Facts
Now I'm wondering RE1 Story
Why did no one in the resi series ever catch on that bringing a rocket launcher along from the beginning of the mission was an essential piece of kit lol
That would have definitely saved us a lot of headaches LOL
@@HeYDeVuH defo would of saved a hell of a lot of hassle haha
What a great channel !
Thank You so much and yeah I wish we could have gotten more from RE3 Remake, the biggest example to me was the cut of the Clock Tower area.
@@HeYDeVuH also devuh do u have any idea about anette birkin or any video on her i saw her actions in the remake seem alot more different
Dude what version of the re3 classic are you playing? It looks so crisp and sharp. Backrounds look like 4k renders
It could be due me exporting it with higher resolutions, I'll have to go back see more in detail
My name is Brad and my best friend is Chris. He used to bug me as kids that his character is better than mine. My favourite character is Claire but I always hoped for more character development for Brad I did really like the cutscene with Marvin in re3 remake. And at least he knew he was doomed and told Jill to run.
You're right that Brad was pretty much done from the get go. Poor Guy was a target by Nemesis
Yo these cuts are killing me😂
Love Marvin's reaction to the mega supreme pizza, lol
Hahaha Yeah Marvin just had enough of everything at that point LOL
2:25 got to love the character Barry burn
So it’s 1996 when brad vickers made his debut when the screen says 1998 lol
The game released 1996, the game storyline is set at 1998
I think "Chicken nugget" would make a new great nickname for Brad in the terrible remake since not even a minute from rendezvous with Jill he becomes a tasty treat for the zombies
Loved Brad going reverse in the helicopter to go back for them. Lmao 😆😂
That would've been nice for him to do instead of leaving them in the middle of the Arklay Mountains
Good point in saying that was his last breath as a Human and now completely turned by the time he faced Carlos.
7:32 I had the same reaction. 🤣
Marvin had enough at that moment and the Pizza LOL
Always wanted to know brad's and chief iron's backstory, Very interesting one.
Yeah both Characters had a bit of lore in the background that wasn't complete told upfront during the game.
I enjoy your style and its new in the making this could be a history in the making for bro thumb up and cheers.👏👏👏😎😎😎😎😎
Thank You and glad that you're enjoying the newer format, I just want to keep getting better and better so more people could enjoy more
I liked the original, but There was no redeeming Brad. He had way to many cowardly acts! And he attacked my boy Marvin. Chicken heart was to nice of a name for Brad.
Could you Make a video about outbreak?
Yes definitely!!!
11:02 "too shall pass"?
"Sorry you got suspended, Jill....hope you enjoy the pizza!" 🤨 brilliant; thanks for sharing!
I know right LOL
I wish he had more info on Joseph. Yea he died super quick. But I wanna know his impact before his death
Yeah unfortunately we don't have much on his character besides that early setup of tension when STARS Alpha team just landed at the Arklay Mountains.
Awesome.
Forget the video! That voice actor was kent who started the silver shroud quest in fallout 4. Small world am I right?
I wish they would've gave Brad more camera time on the remake but i like the way he save Jill 👏 brad🙏
Yes, I wish he could have had more screen time, possibly have him still encounter Nemesis and get infected but then still infect Marvin later on.
It's Brad Vickers.
I like both versions.
I'm not a fan of lore changes as it causes unessasary cognitive dissonance n puts us in a quandry trying to find the 'fictional truth,' so here's a loose hybridization theory:
Brad gets chewed at the bar as seen in both versions.
*Jill visits RPD, Nemi kills Brad, Carlos calls STARS office, Jill leaves RPD, later Carlos n Tyrel visit RPD, Brad has recovered sort of and turned Zombo, he chews Marvin, Carlos n Tyrel visit STARS office.*
Thevabove sequence I am sure can harmonize the 2 versions.
Maybe you could edit up my theory into a cool vid. See what the viewers think? I do think it could cancel out most contradictions this way.
I like the idea that they added a unique knife for him and I wish you could keep it, btw where wws Barry and Rebecca during this miss?
Barry moved his family to Canada because he was afraid that Umbrella may retaliate after RE1, Rebecca was known to escape and that pretty much it
Brad was definitely redeemed cus he stayed in Raccoon City and bought Jill sum pizza
Yeah, not just any regular Pizza at that LOL
So, what was Brad's option realistically in RE1, land in an open area and attract all of the Cerberus' as the team tries to leave and then they get eaten? Even if they went in just to recollect themselves in preparation of picking off the dogs (with little to no ammo) before making a run for it, if one of the group went off and then Wesker did his little plot, then that's already out of Brad's hands as I doubt the rest of the team would want to leave up and leave. Ok I'm going to watch the rest of this now, I just wanted to say that at least for the events of RE1 I don't think he had many options lol
That's a good point, other comments have mentioned that his reaction can be seen as reasonable after witnessing his comrade get attacked by infected Cerberuses' like that
Brad wasnt referred to as Chicken-heart in games at any point, it was invented by S. D. Perry
The remark Brad is better than the Original And more braver
That's true that he was Brave saving Jill. I wish we could have seen him more in the game.
Would love Capcom to remaster the first 3 games
That'd be Amazing!!!
“ha ha ha, GOOD LUCK!”
They done him dirty in the remake. They done a lot dirty in the remake! How can you REMAKE something, and produce something with LESS content?! It is against metaphysics!
Was brad on it with wesker?
No, he didn't know about Weskers plan. The only one who knew was Barry
@@HeYDeVuH just makes sense he leaves the team he stays quiet after…. Idk man seems sketch just my lil theory lol but crazy Barry knew
Can’t believe Brad bites Marvin. Considering how much everybody loves Marvin: screw you chickenheart! LOL
You remember in the first resident evil 2. If you made it to the police station without picking up any items. You seen brad down the stairs under the police entrance zombified
I love the way how they redeemed Brad in the remake, like a true badass.
Brad is a good character but for some reason ( correct me if I'm wrong ) but for some reason he's not reliable. He doesn't get praise or love from his team that's why they kill him off early in part 3
Yeah as seen from RE1 on how he left his comrades in the Arklay mountains shows how reliable he was in that situation.
Hello HeY DeVuH.
Me when the waifu brushes up against me by accident in bed: 2:01
I like how they handled Brad in RE3 Brad messed up and deserved a Redemption arch, it does not matter how he dies thought "the man is not in the union anymore "- Scream 2
10:04 Original Brad got what he deserved for his cowardice IMO. He left his teammates to fend for themselves in a dangerous forest and mansion and only came back to help out of last minute guilt and shame. At least remake Brad helps Jill before he's bitten and turned.
Lol @ 2:01
Forest could speak too if I recall well, saying things like "Please Chris kill me".
Barry Burn?
Sorry for the Accent, Meant Barry Burton
Lol1:50
Glad you liked these LOL
If they remake re 1 I hope they make brad playable or like re 2 give him a dlc story mode
Very well said and yes I think he does deserve a lot of Credit and He did do a lot better in RE3 Remake with the way he helped Jill at the Bar.
I wish somebody would talk about the woman that he had in that building in the Resident Evil 3 remake
RE3 Remake could have been soo much better... they cut too much and changed too much. And the game was so short, I don't understand why things were cut.
You're absolutely right, from what I heard, the development time for the game was shorter compared to RE2 Remake and it definitely shows.
@@HeYDeVuH after the remake alligator fight in 2, I was soo excited for a gravedigger remake and they completely removed it from the story.
Devuh! He definitely redeemed himself in 3make. He came through and sacrificed his life for Jill's safety. I just didn't like how they never mentioned anything about him leaving in the helicopter from the original at least from what I could remember
He did come through in Remake and from what I remember they didn't specifically show him leaving with the Helicopter except when he was already in the air flying away from them.
Nice
