Me too. I lived then in the USSR and we had censorship for Western music, but I was looking for music on the radio and listening to hit parades, and when I heard Ultravox I was very surprised. it was unusual music and songs that are not like all the others. I'm also 57 and I love listening to Ultravox Midge Ure.
I'm happy for you that you lived during the golden times in music, it kinda makes me sad to think i'll never have similar experiences bcs i was born to late...
Loved Ultravox when I was growing up, they had some cracking tunes. Funny with world events how these songs take on a greater significance. Go on and gie it laldy Midge...you're doin' great!.
I love this Midge and this song! What an amazing talented man! From playing guitar with Thin Lizzie, part of the duo that brought us Live Aid and Band Aid, and Ultravox. You get the idea - HE IS AMAZING!
Midge Ure is born Scottish I agree with you, but, after all this years of perfect art he shares with us, he became an international pop star, because of his sincerity and his dedication in what he's doing; as a Moroccan, I love his music , and I appreciates his participation in the charity acts, like for example Live Aid for Africa in the 80's, with his friend Bob Geldof.
Backing vocals are part of arrangements. None song has only one voice. Songs have first, third and fiith voice tones arrangements. Final mix make the way you listen to them.
Just wondering if the drummer and organ player were there as part of a work release prison program. Those twoguys look like somebody I would not want to meet alone in a dark alley. Great video though
Tony Carey plays the keyboards. I love his own music under the name Planet P Project. He also played in Rainbow, and early solo career under his own name.
I am sure it wasn't indented, as the host, "Leslie Mandoky" is just too uneducated to understand the differences between the concepts of being English, British, or Scottish. His "international career" started as a moustached eastern european "break dancer" clown of sorts in an act called Dzinghis Khan, look it up. Kind of a poor man's Boney M. Obviously Midge did notice it but shrugged it off, class act.
sorry to say this. I am a huge fan of both Midge and Ultravox. But this version is absolutely dreadful. The cheesy background vocals, the hippie organ and the awful corny brass section... I enjoyed many different versions of this song, but this one is a violation of the original
I always thought Dancing With Tears In My Eyes was about the Nuclear Apocalypse where a man dances with his love while Nuclear Missiles are on their way to the ultimate destruction of humankind (seems we are closer to that scenario again with the new war in Ukraine).
twisted whisker well, it's a shame. I myself born and raised in Hungary, and the last decade I moved my base to Glasgow 😉 Midge Ure unfortunately an underrated genius. Bless him.
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year full of music happenings & such great emotions to be shared all over again, let it be Christmas all the time guys, making such great gifts, have fun guys 🌺👍🥰🎅🥳😘🍰🥳🌟🥂😍⭐🍷🤩
I used to listen to this song when I was fifteen years old I am now 57 and I still enjoy it. 👏🙏

I also join those from 1966. I listened to Ultravox in my adolescence

Im 57 now, still love Ultravox
Not many artists from the 70's and 80's still own their original voice. Mr Ure, is one of the rare ones.
Ditto!
And Robert Smith... Sounds JUST like he did "back then"..
curt smith & roland orzabal as well, their new album is pure class
Peter Gabriel !
Diamante puro me encanta esta rola con lágrimas en los ojos cantando y bailando

Wow!! The voice is so similiar to 1985. What a natural talent. Love it!!!!!!!!!
The song is originally from 1984😉
Next to Sean Connery and Billy Connolly this man has to be the best export from Scotland.

I doubt Midge Ure actually needed the backing vocalists! He's still killin it as they say.

Ahhh just magical. Thank you. X
For a crowd that size, the applause sounds pretty pathetic......do they not know who he is in Hungary?????????
twisted whisker. That crowd needs some basic education...
twisted whisker well, it's a shame. I myself born and raised in Hungary, and the last decade I moved my base to Glasgow 😉 Midge Ure unfortunately an underrated genius. Bless him.
Midge didn't even flinch when that guy said, ' ... from England ...'.
J’adore c’est trop trop bien
excellent
"From England" - you should've hooked him Midge mate.
Great 👍
The guy on keyboards reminds me quite a bit of Toney Carey. As in I think thats Tony Carey.

World reknown men of yore!
English?????? From Cambuslang, Glasgow, SCOTLAND
He didn’t call him English. He said he’d come from England, as in travelled from, which is where he’s lived for many decades.
