- Midge Ure playing live at Epic Studios Norwich
James "Midge" Ure is a Scottish musician, singer-songwriter and producer. His stage name, Midge, is a phonetic reversal of Jim, the diminutive form of his given name.
Ure enjoyed particular success in the 1970s and '80s in bands including Slik, Thin Lizzy, Rich Kids and Visage, and most notably as frontman of Ultravox. In 1984, Ure co-wrote and produced the charity single "Do They Know It's Christmas?", which has sold 3.7 million copies in the UK. The song is the second highest selling single in UK chart history. Ure co-organised Band Aid, Live Aid and Live 8 with Bob Geldof. Ure acts as trustee for the charity, and serves as ambassador for Save the Children.
Epic Studios is an exceptional media and entertainment centre located in the heart of East Anglia, away from the inflated prices and often chaotic, polluted environments surrounding many of the alternatives. We provide excellent facilities and experienced, friendly staff - trained to help with every aspect of TV production - and currently serve a diverse range of clients from around the UK.

Ha, ha, ha, genius...

Omg this song brings back a nice memory for me. I was 18 in 84. I met a girl one Sat night in a local disco in Belfast. We danced all night long and parted at the end of the night with a single kiss. Three nights later the bloody place was burnt to a shell and i thought that i would never see her again. The following Sat night and my mate & I went to another popular night club only to find the girl and her mate there also. I asked her up for a dance to this song and we were together again :) She became my wife a year later. Was so glad to hear it again.
John McClelland that's a great story. fantastic song
+John McClelland Me and my partner met each other and we have seen midge ure....we are sole mates and like the same music and movies . We are both very suited to each other and have everything in common.
That's fucking beautiful, man.
its a great tune x im a 82 baby x but i love this tune
You are lucky. I was 14 in 84. And my poor heart was broken first time. Then when I was 19, another girl broke my heart again. And at 23 - again. In 1997 I got married with some nice woman, I have family and beautifull children. But my heart never cured...
This man is a Scottish treasure
Stunning how Midge can still pull this song off that well vocally at his age. Great performance!
Absolutely :)
Holy cow. This man and his voice haven’t aged. Brilliant.

Standing ovation with tears in my eyes!
oh what a performance, what a voice!!!
I think Midge is great and underrated. It was hard, however, to live in Freddie Mercury's era
Sitting on the couch, headphones ,listening to this... I have tears in my eyyyyyyyyeeess :o)
This song hits me so hard every time. I’m only 25 and watching this video with tears in my eyes!
What a man, what a voice, what a talent.... loved him then in the 80ties and love him still.
His voice has improved with age. Great song and an impressive version.
Midge, you keep rocking man. This 62-yr-old does not forget. Ultra Vox rocked our youth. You keep rocking it.
His voice is still just as amazing as it was :) What a treat to hear him play this acoustic version!

Just like this I've seen and listen to Midge Ure in Frankfurt, it seems centuries ago. It was one of the greatest concerts I've ever been and felt just like beeing a part of it.
Bloody awesome for his age. What a song. I grew up with this.
I was in his 2 solo concerts, was amazing
Very impressive, I love the original, but this kind of interpretation is at least on the same level. Great job.

saw him two years ago when he was on tour in my country, such amazing performance considering it's just his voice and a guitar. First rate performer, I say!

Dancing with tears in my eyes
weeping for the memory of a life gone by
dancing with tears in my eyes
living out a memory of a love that died
It's five and i'm driving home again
it's hard to believe that it's my last time
the man on the wireless cries again
it's over, it's over
Dancing with tears in my eyes
weeping for the memory of a life gone by
dancing with tears in my eyes
living out a memory of a love that died
it's late and i'm with my love alone
we drink to forget the coming storm
we love to the sound of our favourite song
over and over
Dancing with tears in my eyes
weeping for the memory of a life gone by
dancing with tears in my eyesl
iving out a memory of a love that died
It's time and we're in each other's arms
it's time but i don't think we really care
dancing with tears in my eyes
weeping for the memory of a life gone by
dancing with tears in my eyes
living out a memory of a love that died
Dancing with tears in my eyes
weeping for the memory of a life gone by
dancing with tears in my eyes

Great memorys to this time. How lucky we were to grew up at that decade.

Best version
This man is such a genius! No one has, or will, ever come close. Ultravox would've gone nowhere without him!!
David Byrne, Bryan Ferry, Peter Gabriel, Leonard Cohen all say "hello". As do a thousand other supremely talented, hard-working musicians of all stripes.
Ultravox - A Group Of High Flight.
That’s truly is something else......Stunning 🤟🏽
