As a non American this guy should be treasured as one of the geniuses of modern American art. You listen to his catalogue and it has so many varied influences from all American genres. Treasure him
I’ve been a huge fan of Bruce since I was 9 when my mom and dad went to see him with Ricky Skaggs in 2008 and when they got home my dad played The Way It Is, Mandolin Rain, Look Out Any Window and Jacob’s Ladder and I was immediately HOOKED on his music. I’m now 20 and I recently discovered some new songs of his. Would LOVE to see him live! 😍😍
By the way the version he sang at "The Current" is a more appropriate version for this song being that the lyrics are so emotionally personal. Just him and his piano at "The Current".
Still brilliant as ever. I remember when the album The Way It Is came out. I was in high school, and it changed my universe. There are a few elements that kind of date it (which isn't a bad thing), but it still holds water today as a solid album carefully recorded by inspired people.
Grateful Dead alumni! If you want to hear a better version the studio version is truly mesmerizing, although his live shows are so bad ass. If you’re a fan of Bon Iver you’d love this songs studio version because JustinVernon sings on it.
I do wonder what some of the younger members of the audience feel watching someone play live like that. Especially as the much of the music scene has sampled or electronic based music.
The Range era ended after his 3rd album with them, and he joined the Grateful Dead for 2 years. Afterward, he released three albums under just his own name, then renamed the band The Noisemakers around 1999. 🎹
Unfortunately, the Range hasn’t existed since 1990. He only released 3 albums with them, then he moved on to solo work, the Grateful Dead, & the Noisemakers. Sad, because the Range albums are so damn incredible!
This whole album rewards repeat listening. Cast Off is great, a lot of depth to it, butI kind of wished they would have picked something more up-tempo from the album like Voyager One. At least for the Kimmel crowd .
Same thing I wrote in a post above! I love this song though it has a lot of depth, but for the teevee it would be good to have something up-tempo like Voyager One.
KC Lange nonsense! True fans and listeners like both for different reasons. He’ll never have those timeless hits he once had with them unless he goes back to that approach.
Live singing is hard. Not his best performance, but I think he sounds fine! Great song. And it looks like he's using sheet music, which might just be more about him remembering every element of the song, not just that he couldn't remember the words. He's a legend, and I love this performance.
Not a good version of that song, his studio version is very nice though. And live is his thing just not that pace, listen to HereCome the Noisemakers double live disc for that side of him.
He's been performing at a very high level for many years. He's a pretty phenomenal musician. He's made a great contribution to the world of music. Hate to see him picked on for one song performance when his best performances are among the best out there.

As a non-American, you said it better than I could; an American.
amen, brother!
Bruce is amazing. His catalog is great and he played with the Dead. I'm American.
Here in Virginia we always treasured Bruce, after all he's from Williamsburg......
Go see him while you still can.

It's a lifetime of joy!

One of the all-time greats! Great great greats!
So underrated
My dream to see him live!
Bruce is the bomb! Am I the only one who imagines he has a whole closet full of black shirts and jeans like that?
This guy makes me proud that I am an American! For sure!
A true american talent!
I always have The Way It Is on my playlist. Such a talent
Nice to see Bruce gets some recognition.
Why was his mic so low?
that's just the way it is
I have the album and I love it!!

Sublime Bruce. With love from 🇲🇾 Malaysia

It's damn good on headphones isn't it? I've been in and out with Bruce over the years but I love the new album dearly. I can't stop listening to it.
If you’re reading this I wish you a FANTASTIC day today! Be well :)

Yaassss! Favorite. 🤍
Love Bruce, such a legend 🙌🏾
Love his music! Did a remix of one of his songs!
Do you have a UA-cam of that?
Bruce is real. Keep music real.
I do wonder what some of the younger members of the audience feel watching someone play live like that. Especially as the much of the music scene has sampled or electronic based music.
What happened to “The Range” I really liked Bruce Hornsby andThe Range!
Glad I wasn't the only one wondering about that when I saw the video title.

Me too he’s never been the same since them!
Jon Dowling I know, he’s only gotten better and written better songs
Love him, just saw him live last week. His voice sounds a little hoarse here, though
He's a work horse, it's little wonder. Still the man though. I always thought his singing was terribly underrated over the years. A terrific singer.
I just saw him in Belgium, his voice sounds just like his studio albums!! I was front row!!!
Bruce and Elton, friends and brothers......
♥️

❤️🗿
So Sad seeing him getting so old....
Wish he would have done voyager one instead, it's a much better song

wat hapened to the range
Welcome to 2019
I miss them as well
After you hear the live album Here Come the Noisemakers you’d never want to hear the Range again.
KC Lange nonsense! True fans and listeners like both for different reasons. He’ll never have those timeless hits he once had with them unless he goes back to that approach.
Bruce evolves, as should we all.
The music is good but the singing 😕and he seems to be reading the words...
Right? He really couldn’t learn the song before the show?
I don't think this is of issue. A number use teleprompters, he uses cards.

You obviously have no idea who this is
Early
Meh
Hate to be a hater but....
Not a good version of that song, his studio version is very nice though. And live is his thing just not that pace, listen to HereCome the Noisemakers double live disc for that side of him.
I should give it a listen! Thanks dude

Me too but had to thumbs down your comment lol. Had to be done, drank up all the haterade.
