I saw just about everybody in the 70's, punks, old farts, new wave, you name it. But nobody and I mean NOBODY, could outplay these boys. The first time I saw them in '79, I just couldn't believe how great they were. Saw them many times afterwards, including their final headlining show at the Lyceum in 1983.What I would give to turn back the clock to one of those nights.
Another of those bands who were of that time .. late 70s / 80s .. they were fantastic.. im soooo privalidged to have grown up in those times .. never to be repeated and never forgotten...JIMMY JIMMY
Saw them at the Manchester Apollo a few months before this. I just remember non stop pogo-ing from start to finish and being covered in spit. I have a vivid memory of someone spitting a big greenie and it landing on Micky Bradleys Rickenbacker bass fretboard. He looked down at it, grimaced and then dived in because that was the next note he had to play. Next day I was travelling in to Uni, and they were all there on top deck of the bus travelling back into town from the Lansdowne hotel near Owens Park where they’d stayed. Not every day you bump into legends on the top deck of a bus.
My son who went to see The Undertones in their native home town in Derry, Northern Ireland (where I'm from by the way) enjoy it and he's a fan of them. One of the greatest Irish bands along with U2. 🇮🇪 ☘
My comment was a bit flippant. Live they were electric... I even got to dance with Belinda Carlisle, at one of their gigs ( the Go-Go's were the support act). Heady days !

I have no idea how, even in the UK their album sales got lower and lower as they got better and better. A fucking amazing group. None of this "underrated" horseshit - the public simply wasn't allowed to know how good they were.
The sound on this is rubbish and doesn't do the band justice. I saw The Undertones in Glasgow around 1980/81. The support was Orange Juice. Remember them. ?
@@bealfeirste2056 -- nope, my observations are actually quite astute. Both bands were in the same subgenre at the same time, in roughly the same place (the British Isles). One (The Jam) could craft fantastic melodies and hooks, and frequently profound lyrics. The other (The Undertones) could not. That's why since the breakup of The Jam, other bands have been covering their entire repertoire nonstop. The Undertones? Maybe 2 or 3 songs get covered, and frequently tongue-in-cheek.
And BTW, I saw The Undertones in 1980 when they came to San Francisco. They were pretty good, live. But the music itself wasn't special. Perhaps it's special to listeners in N. Ireland, but to the rest of the world...not so much.
@@bricology The Undertones are from Derry,Ireland....got absolutely nothing to do with Britain whatsover...The Jam were from an entirely seperate place, the island neighbouring ours...Have absolutely no idea why youre comparing two bands from different backgrounds and influences.Bizarre...have to presume youre from Canada N.USA.....whats N.ireland by the way?
@@bealfeirste2056 wrote "nothing to do with Britain whatsover" I never said "Britain", I said "British Isles", and last time I checked, N. Ireland was indeed part of the British Isles. Or has that changed recently? The Undertones (proper) released recordings between 1977 and '83; and The Jam, 1977 to '82. They were played on the same radio stations, they played the same sorts of gigs, they shared some fans, and were both championed by John Peel. Both mixed power-pop with punk, "new wave" and soul influences. Both had affinities with The Clash. As you know, you're welcome to disagree. Opinions are like assholes: everyone's got one. But I don't think one can reasonably dispute the many commonalities the two bands shared.

What a Great Live performance, very underrated band. One of the best Frontman that there's been.
My first favourite band. I first saw them in May 79 in Chelmsford. The floor was literally bouncing.
Ok boomer.
This is brilliant. The best 'Tones live footage I've seen on You Tube.
To think i had not heard this band until 2021. Bloody brilliant. What a vocalist.🎸✌👿

Well done girl..!!!! Rare video gig and great moment..!!! 🤘😎👍⚡💖
That's pretty good for a live vocal.
Fantastic thank you!!
This dude has great live vocal tone for a old school punk band. And I love that distorted twangy guitar sound.
Masters of their trade.
Greatest pop song title/lyric ever - Teenage kicks..... Brilliant
One of the greatest gigs ever!! 💪💪
¡ Gracias !! Fantástico ' nerviosismo ' melodioso

Undertones first album the most underrated album in the history of rock and roll
❤️💣
Great band and still punk
First rate!
Hardly made a bad song, the best.
Except for some of The Sin of Pride, yes it's true.
Joel Rizzo yes agreed although still a good album by most standards!

Put Glitter, Ramones and the Pistols together and you get Hard Luck.
Feargal in his 4 stripe adidas t shirt - 😄
It’s a Derry bootleg. 😊
Alguien sabe el nombre de los temas?
Ha ha ha - Old Mickey`s concentration @19:14 lol
Damn they were cute 😍
Is the crowd asllep there,, jaysus
Feargal makes a couple snarky comments about it, too.
Track list anyone?
Le plus coole
Anyone know the name of the songs?
Yes see my other post.
Fungal Sarky definitely isn't on the Mars Bars, judging by this slice of Undertones history.
全く知らないバンドです。クラッシュやブームタウンラッツ、ジャム等に似てますが、知りませんでした。当時はミュージックライフ、ビバロック、音楽専科、が情報源でしたからルックスも影響していたのかな。
10:06 Teenage Kicks
I love no shirt punk
Where's John?
Fergal have been working out or on a tanning bed. Or loads of tattoos Fuck no
Mustard.

White powder looks like flour , I feel 👍
Dikke boe boe, nou niet echt toch?
Guitars WAAAAAYYY to loud, on purpose no doubt
They're kinda like a Jam that can't write a hook or a melody...
Are all your observations complete bollocks?
