Tradescantia nanouk is my favorite pink plant. I have it under a grow light and water weekly or when the top layer of soil is dry. It's honestly been easy to grow and fun to watch.
I agree. I ordered mine online and when it arrived, it was over watered and most of the leaves dropped. I re-potted the plant and it grew so quickly over the summer. I even got flowers. I have mine under a grow light and the leaves are a vibrant pink color.
I got a tradescantia spathacea variegata over a year ago and the seller told me it was a tradescantia zebrina, I am so excited to learn exactly what it is since the leaves always had a more elongated shape and vibrant color than the zebrina. I've spent so much time googling trying to find this! Thank you!!
Thank you for mentioning Tradescantia Spathacea! I love this plant and I never see people talk about it. I do find mine gets leggy easily but those bits are easily propagated too.
I found some "dead" heart vines someone had in water and let dry up and die, but one piece had a dried up big round "root", you know what I mean, they get them eventually...anyway, I planted the dried up ball and it sprouted! They will root right in the soil if you water the nodes often. Love that plant!
Thanks for the information, Nick! Your plant collection is amazing! Hopefully, I'll be able to purchase a philodendron pink philodendron soon. It's on my list for 2020!
I love pink plants so much, and when ever I can find a pink plant I scoop it up. Your five picks are beautiful, the Pink Princess is one that is on my wish list and I hope to find one this year with out spending an arm and a leg for one. I also love the tradescantia so much and think that Steve's leaves has them. I love the peperomia pink lady, would love to find one as well. The variegated string of hearts is one that is on my wish list, and hope to find that one this year as well. Thank you Nick for sharing I loved all of your picks, I also have some pink Syngoniums, they are fun plants too.
As far as the 'pink princess' philodendron reverting back to its green color, you may have been hearing about the infamous 'pink congo' philodendron. It's a type of philodendron that growers manipulate with some sort of hormone exposure to temporarily turn the new foliage intense pink. People buy them (at a hefty price I might add) only to have them revert back to green due to the lack of continued hormone exposure. It's especially annoying because people will charge ridiculous prices for them and claim them to be "rare" which I feel sometimes is an overused word in the houseplant world. Great video! New viewer here!
I purposely move my pink star plant in and out of the light to make it have stripes lol. I do it with my Dracaenas to make the stems curve back and fourth! I want all your pink plants!!!
Thanks for this great Video, Nick! I watch you from Germany with only north-faced-windows trying to do the best for my little indoor garden ;-) Today i bought two little pots of ceropegia woodii variegata - even in my country they are not so common and a crimson princess (my first hoya). I'm very excited. My wishlist is increasing with every video! Greetings to all plant-addicts all over the world.

Wow, the price of the variegated string of hearts really shocked me. I live in The Netherlands and I bought mine for 3,99 euros... I know houseplants prices are lower here than in the US generally but wow this is a huge difference. Anyhow, loved the video.
The Netherlands is fab for house plants, literally the only dutch I know is "Kopen" which is usually followed by a plant name on Google hunting for a bargain 😂
What!? I recently bought one for $25 and I am waiting for it to come in the mail (ノ^∇^)ノ゚ But I did not know it was so much cheaper in other countries. I hope your plant is thriving. ( ・ω・)ノ
Lol @ "Plant parent freakout". Great video, Nick. Greetings from London, UK. I recently discovered your channel. I'm new to indoor plants but Peperomia Ginny is my only pinkish houseplant. Recommended.
I have that tradescantia (also called Rhoeo) and it is a VERY under rated plant. It is among my short list favorites. To see it in high light is to see all of it's magnificent colors and that is a sight to see! Pink and purple, white and green. I also have the golden variety. A major pink plant type you did not mention are the pink Aglaonemas. Talk about PINK! Lol!
Hi Nick Happy new Year. I love that pink princess most..half moon shaped pink leaf really impressed me...I always failed to have healthy tradescantia plant but still I am trying it because I love that much .
Oh Nick, thanks for saying you have more difficulty with the ripple peperomia! I love Peps and have luck with the others but not the ripple pep. Can’t wait to try the pink one! Great video!
8:57 It’s so funny 😂 I still find SOH Var. price tag overwhelming. They’re quite expensive here in Scotland. Tradescantia Fluminensis and Peperomia Caperata are so easy to take care of for me. I find them a fast grower. But anyway, it’s so nice to see you smiling and laughing Nick! 💕
Hi Nick! I love your picks for pink! I, too, love pink in plants. I have the Cryptanthus bivittatus "Pink Star"(I have 2 small ones) and the Tradescantia Spathacea "Variegata" (it's getting very leggy). They're two of my favorite pink plants, along with several Syngoniums with pink in them (one is a pink butterfly and one is a berry illusion, the others didn't have tags 😕) and a Snow White Waffle plant. I would love to see the other pink plants you have, too. Again, thank you so much for sharing! Also, the other 3 plants you picked are on my wish list now. 😏
A top 5 made to get me specifically to add to my wishlist... Next you're gonna do fuzzy plants and I'm gonna have to resign myself to just having a never ending list
I’ve been keeping an eye out for the Peperomia Pink Lady. I used to hate Peperomia because I didn’t understand their needs right away haha, but now I know they’re wonderful! Peperomia Frost is so stunning 🤩
That tradescantia is the first plant I ever actively tried to rescue and it died... I’m still traumatized 😂 I just bought a tri color and you saying it’s more difficult scares me, but I’m a lot more experienced now so I think she will be ok.
Morgan Stevens mine was dying off and I chopped it all over to try and propagate and save it.. he’s right about it rooting but I still couldn’t keep it alive in soil! It’s still going somehow but just one straggly little bit, when it used to be so lush 😂
zoezygomorphic yes me too!! I propagated it and it grew roots but as soon as I put it in soil it died. I haven’t had a tradescantia again til now. Everyone always says they are so easy but once they decline it’s hard to bring them back
I don’t think the tricolor is totally difficult, just hard to maintain. These plants lose foliage and get leggy constantly and that’s what I stray from Tradescantia - however spathacea’s tight growth habit keeps it looking fresh much much longer!
I'm from Ohio, but now in AZ. It turns out more plants can turn pink than you'd expect if they're getting 10 hours of direct sun a day. xD (I found this out after thinking my neighbor had some kind of special pink aloe vera haha)
Thank you for the wonderful videos! I always watch yours and Summer Rayne Oaks'. I believe that you have a syngonium podophyllum 'pink' on the wall, too (maybe your #6?) ...I feel like I'm a stoker.lol) I just got it today from Steve's Leaves. Speaking syngonium, Logee's is currently taking an order for syngonium podophyllum 'albo-veriegatum' (backordered.) Just FYI if you don't have it or are interested. Also, thank you for the code; saved $85 (yay, more plants!) I always wanted Soltechsolutions lights.
I bought the #3 l from HomeDepot. Just a few months. It's getting so so big. But its snapped easy and break and it's needs a lot of sun light to keeps it colorful.
_Plectranthus scutellarioides_ better known as Coleus is usually grown as a colorful annual in the garden but it also makes a lovely houseplant. Many varieties such as "watermelon" have a lot of pink in the leaves. Coleus seeds are cheap and plants are easy to propagate by stem cuttings as well.
I have 2 of those tradescantias in seperate 4 inch pots. mine was labeled oyster plant. I didn't know they would trail someday. yours is very full and pretty. if you ever take a cutting again could you show where you cut on the plant? I have 2 different aglaonemas that have pink on them. The aglaonema Pink and the Favonian. I thought you might also have mentioned the pink syngonium. Not a fan but I know a lot of youtubers have that one and like it.
So within the last couple days I got super into your channel, and I absolutely love your videos. I’m just getting into plants myself (I’ve got a philodendron micans, a monstera deliciosa, a tricolor peperomia and a chinese evergreen cutting I got from my grandfather) and it’s so nice getting to put so much love and care into my plants. Anyway, your videos are super lovely and informative and fun, and also thanks for doing my suggestion I posted the other week! So nice seeing your choices ☺️ Also, I’ve been dying for a peperomia pink lady but can’t seem to find one yet 😭😭
Hi Nick, Kerry from South Australia here. UA-cam only just showed me your channel this past week and am so happy to watch your videos. Question... Northern and Southern hemespheres .... Does the sun rise and set facing the same directions? Just wondering because of the direction the windows face. Should be the same shouldn't it? The sun sets in the West here. If it's the same, you have inspired me to try again with indoor plants in this house. I've had no problem in years gone by but this house is a whole other story. Your knowledge is so valuable. Thank you for sharing with us x
Kerry Jean the sun rises and sets the same over the globe. However the light of your north facing window would be almost the same intensity as our south facing windows in the northern hemisphere. That’s my understanding at least. Light intensity is strongest towards the equator?
Hi Kerry, I'm from Sydney Australia! And yes Faith is correct. The best light for most indoor plants is our north or east light. Whenever you hear a youtube video from US talking about Southern light just remember for us it's northern light and the east is where the sun rises and the west is where it sets (all over the world).
My favorite pink plant is def my polka dot plant (Hypoestes phyllostachya,) do you have this one Nick?? I've been in the hospital since Dec 13th & I'm scared to see what I go home to! 🙄 I hope my pink ladies are still kickin..... I won't get released until next Tues. So I hope all my plants have stayed strong! Another video I Love Nick! Have a good week at work dear 🌺☘🌷
Yes when it's big and beautiful- it gets really big and really beautiful!! One of my top ten faves for sure! And thank you- I am getting stronger everyday! 3-4 hrs of therapy each day so they are working me hard! But it's so I can be ready to go home and be strong enough so I need the therapy. But binge-watching your videos have helped me pass the time tremendously, plus I've learned a lot! so thank you!! You're helping and you don't even realize it! Have a blessed day sweetheart!! ♡♡
I need your help, where can I send you a picture?. I bought a cutie but home depot did not place a name tag in her pot, idk her name but she sorta look like pink princess, just has pink stems
Thanks for the coupon code as I seriously want a Soltech plant light. I also like the Pink Princess....is it considered a low light plant since its a Philodendron?
"They smell like old towels" 😂 I love it! I'm a huge fan of pink. It was my moms favorite color. Thanks so much for showing off all of your pink babies 💚🌿
@@NickPileggiPlants omg I hope you have heard of the plant! The movies great too lol! So google pink panther plant and you will see it. Let me know if you know this one coz I carn't beleave im telling you about it! 😊💚
I think my pink princess is reverting :( are there any good plant lights you can suggest at a more reasonable price, around the $50 range? (I looked into the soul tech solutions grow light but they are too expensive for my budget right now ugh wahhhhh)
Kate Alberico check out Becca de la plants she did a grow light video of her installing one in her kitchen. I got that one and it’s been working great for me 🙌🏼 and it was around $30
I just picked up a ceropegia woodii variegata that’s only slightly smaller than yours (looks about the same pot size, just not as long!) for £9.99... always crazy to see the difference in prices! I’m in the UK 🌱
Prices for a bunch of plants fluctuate all over the place depending on region! I believe even a standard Pothos is outrageously priced in some regions like New Zealand
Peperomia pink lady has been soooo hard to me find so far. I won’t give up the hunt though! I think the pink syngonium should of been on this list, in my humble opinion 😁
Yes, I was waiting for that, too. LOL. I have a stunning pink Syngonium (don't know the actual name) and I just picked up an adorable pink Confetti Syngonium yesterday.
Would the Ceropegia do well in one of those IKEA toothbrush holders on the window? I'm concerned about the cold radiating through the window here in Philadelphia area.
You need to find a new grower for your variegated string of hearts. I get 4" full pots for $15. 8" very full pots with 2 ft long stems for $48. I mean stuffed full. Hearts the size of a silver dollar. Growers in California if you're interested.
Ok where do you work and do you ship? Because I have been on the hunt for a vsoh for ever and people are ridiculous 🙄 for cuttings and shipping its more then 25.00 for a small maybe 2.5 pot or 2 its like 75.00 or more! I have 5 kids I need to feed I don't have that kind of money! I'm patiently waiting maybe one of these days I will get lucky 😌. Love your videos btw.
Can the philodendron pink princess be a trailing plant or does it have to be staked? I would love it as a trailing plant but I’m not sure im super into staked plants, especially if it grows too quickly.
Love this! Can you do a top 5 “black” plants as well?
That’s a really fun idea!!
Yes, I love black plants!

Hi, I'm from Iran and I want the pink princesses and the flowers you talked about in the rain.
where did you find your pink princess?
I have syngonium podophylum "pink" which is doing great and I almost killed my fittonia pink-vein but some is alive so maybe it's come back
My favorite pink plant is def my polka dot plant (Hypoestes phyllostachya,) do you have this one Nick?? I've been in the hospital since Dec 13th & I'm scared to see what I go home to! 🙄
I hope my pink ladies are still kickin..... I won't get released until next Tues. So I hope all my plants have stayed strong! Another video I Love Nick! Have a good week at work dear 🌺☘🌷
I hope you’re feeling okay Kelly!! I don’t own one myself but I often sell them at my work !
Where are you guys finding the infamous philodendron pink princess? I need one in my life but can’t fathom a $220+ price tag for a cutting.
Thanks for the coupon code as I seriously want a Soltech plant light. I also like the Pink Princess....is it considered a low light plant since its a Philodendron?
No anthurium tickled pink or is that too on the nose? Lovely selections nontheless
Hello! Do you know if Philodedron erubescens "Pink Princess" is toxic for cats?
All the philodendrons are toxic for cats
"They smell like old towels" 😂 I love it! I'm a huge fan of pink. It was my moms favorite color. Thanks so much for showing off all of your pink babies 💚🌿
They do!! Haha can’t think of another way to describe it 😅 thanks for watching!! 🌿
@@NickPileggiPlants That was the perfect way 😂 Love your channel!
Peperomia Pileggi 💚
😛🌿
Hi Nick where can I purchase a good quality pink princess
Wow they are all beautiful. What are your thoughts on the pink panther? Great job👍💚
Like the movie ? Lol or is this a plant I haven’t heard of 😂
@@NickPileggiPlants omg I hope you have heard of the plant!
Ikea has a new grow light they recently started selling
Nick Pileggi thank you so much!!
Mirella Orozco you’re the best thank you!!!!!!!
Do you sell pink princess clippings? I cant find one in my area
I've wanted the pink princess forever but cannot bring myself to spend 200 plus dollars on it
I just picked up a ceropegia woodii variegata that’s only slightly smaller than yours (looks about the same pot size, just not as long!) for £9.99... always crazy to see the difference in prices!
I'd love to get the information for the grower -
I’ve been searching for this plant. It’s so expensive!
It can do either or. It’s not a quick grower, it’s taken 3 years to grow all that!
Wow I got the string of hearts at Canadian Tire 3inch~ pot for $3, so I guess I got for a steal? Or price has been dropping
Wait..a plant at a tire place? Serious?
@@mairwaugus5203 It's a very popular Department store in Canada. It's a hybrid between Walmart and Home Depot (Except no groceries)
@@Jayl__ but they sell tires too?
@@mairwaugus5203 yeah they have an auto service too. google it.
