Once we had to play this in Orchestra. It's been lovingly dubbed as "How to Kill Your String Players In One Song" since none of us had ever played anything like this before.
In 1892, Pyotr Tchaikovsky sat down to scribble this piece by the dim glow of candlelight, envisioning it as part of a sublime ballet--having absolutely no idea that in one hundred years it would instead be primarily known as "that music that plays during every Christmas comedy trailer ever made."

I heard this song once years and years and years ago. It was starting to haunt me because I kept on hearing it in my head but I didn't know where or what it was. I finally found it.
Lol me too. I just found it again today. I was worried that I was never going to find it again. The only video that I was hearing it on was this video ad on ROBLOX that cam up while I was loading a game. The video ad was an advertisement of the new movie "Night at the Museum 3: The Secret of the Tomb". that was the only video that I was hearing the song on. Oh. I was also hearing the song on this youtube ad.
The way I found it was because today, at school, in music class, my teacher played a Nutcracker song for us. And I immediately knew that it was the song I was looking for. She didn't tell us the name of the song, but because she at least told us that it was from the Nutcracker, and because I have the Nutcracker suite on my iPad, all I had to do was skim through all the songs and I found it.
+Gesa El This is NOT off Home Alone! Listen to the song, Holiday Flight, and you'll notice they're two totally different songs; John Williams ripped off this song.
HARPER DODD If you were cultured AT ALL, or educated at least, you would know this piece is from the Romantic Era. It’s an era of music. Get your facts straight. It’s not only from Home Alone.
I just performed March and Trepak from the Nutcracker Suite yesterday. I'm a violinist in the top orchestra of my high school. We got two standing ovations. (one from the end of the song, and one after the encore) It's the performance I'm most proud of. =)
Ah, how I love the Russian romantic music. Of all of the styles of classical music there are, the romantic pieces are without a doubt my favorite. So that I don't confuse anyone, when I say "romantic," I don't mean love; I'm talking about Romanticism, lol. We played this piece just a few days ago at a concert, and it made me wish that we had played all of Tchaikovsky's Festival Overture...
This recording is made by the London Festival Orchestra, conducted by Henry Adolph and is on the Tchaikovsky CD from the Masters of the Millenium series. I do highly recommend the version made by sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Phil on the EMI recording of the entire ballet suite from 2010, though. That is THE Russian Dance to me.
The Loud House's episode "Snow Way Out", Courage the Cowardly Dog's "The Nutcracker", Cartoon Network's The Nutcracker and the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony brought me here!^^
Imagine this: You missed the bus. You're on a mission to get to school on time, while battling the pounding rainfall. As you soar through the streets, umbrella in hand, your heart races to the beat of this song. You begin to hear it louder and louder. Until, you no longer hear the pounding rainfall. It's almost like you can't feel it anymore. You lose yourself in the waltzy melody, and it empowers you to keep moving, letting nothing stop you from overcoming this one of many obstacles you'll face in life.

I honestly think the Trepak is even more Nutcracker-y than the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy and most people might think of this melody when someone mentions the ballet. It's so well known, but ask someone about the Flutes, or Arabian; blank faces staring back at you. Maybe that just means it's the best piece of the Nutcracker (I certainly agree. Now if only it were longer...)
As a little kid, whenever I'd hear this I'd excitedly say "the Home Alone song!" And my family would tell me it's actually a song from the Nutcracker. Turns out, Home Alone has an extremely similar song called Holiday Flight,
