What does Paul Rodgers, now 71, do to keep so young? Without a doubt one of the best voices in rock. I'm 64 and was a teenager when Free were at their prime .
What a prophet Paul Rodgers is in life! I am in my 60s. Whether it was the Vietnam Conflict (that is correct - our sleazy politicians did not declare war denied those who survived benefits), heroin addiction, fentanyl addiction, homelessness, abusive taxes to the non-rich, divorce and love - GLOBALLY. The "yeah me f-you attitude is so toxic. What do all people need and want - "love and a peaceful world". Thant you Paul and Free Spirit.
I have never seen an aged singer nail it like that and sound just as good as he did when he was a kid. I can't name another singer from that era that sounds as good now as he/she did back then, but Paul Rodgers does it somehow. (edit) 2:35 Holy guacamole, that' some singing.
50 years ago Free did this.Paul sounds as good or better now.Free, Bad Company, on and on..Blessed with the best rock voice ever..Maybe if Ian Gilliam hadn't tricked up his voice. But Paul does the same Octaves..EXACT..Love and a PEACEFUL 🌎!!
I remember being in a bar in Thailand it was 2 in the morning the Beatles were on the t.v this guy was saying how good they were . He came up to me preaching about them I said really he asked me don't you agree my reply they were good but my choice free Bad company or just mr Roger's job done .
I got goosebumps and tears in my eyes and that is not often these days. First time i listen to this live version, always loved the song and always loved his voice, but as it said down below in the comments oh God that man can sing
That’s cool at the end when the band momentarily fades and Paul holds the mic around the diaphragm and belts it out. You young uns take note of this singer.
I modelled my voice on this guy at the age of 14. I'm still trying! Now 71 and playing live gigs, I praise Paul Rgers as one of the gretest rock voices of all time.
I’ve loved Rogers voice, but I have to say Lou Graham has the voice over Steve Perry and Rogers, which is saying a lot, since they’re all considered some of the best voices of all time!
After almost 50 years since the song first came out, the voice of Paul Rogers hasn't wavered one bit. The man and his music is timeless! FREE is barely appreciated NOW for ALL the music it made LONG ago.
A friend of mine in childhood was playing with his dad's gun... didn't think it was loaded... it was. This song always makes me think Of Ron Ailles. RIP brother, you went way too young. Still miss your smilin' face. I hope your family learned to deal with it better in time. It was not their fault.
Always had and still has the best voice in rock ! What a performance by everyone ! As medical issues force me to accept my mortality musical memories stir emotions ! Cried the whole way thru ! Not sad just happy to have had music like this thru my youth. Keep on rocking !😎👍
i saw this band before paul took over. they started out in the roman bath in york. the original vocalist was on ken bruce's pop master, recently. he had health problems so he had to stop gigging. fantastic fella. wouldn't harm a fly.
Paul has been drinking from the fountain of eternal youth , (guiness) and showing everybody including the Jaggers, the Bono's , the Daltrey's and hell.....everybody else how to sing .
This brings tears to my eyes....such a wonderful memory for me. I loved Free. You never expect the live performance to be as good as the studio one, but this was fantastic.
Awesome. Remember it well. Still in our band's set list today. Amazing voice. In E minor to start but half way through changes key and goes up 5 semi tones which is half an octave to A minor - (E to F); (F to F//); (F// to G); (G to G//); (G// to A); and Paul Rodgers effortlessly nails it because it demonstrates his amazing vocal range. Wonderful.
Followed the great man since the 70's loved everything, inspirational.Really nailed it with FREE SPIRIT capturing original free sound including Koss like guitar . AWESOME !!!👍👍👍
There are hundreds of lead singers from top bands from this era who are wondering how Paul Rodgers has kept that voice of his all these years. Remarkable!
I'm from Scotland and rember seeing free when they played in Glasgow many, many, years ago , maybe around 50 plus years ago and Paul Rogers was just as good then. It was phenomenal to see them then and sad to think that two of the bad have now passed. Look up their performance at the isle of wight concert on Google.
Paul Rodgers is the best lead singer of any rock band by a million miles
He's stunning, but no Ian Gillan.
Ive seen both of them live and believe me , it's not even close. Ian Gillan is a screamer, whilst Paul Rodgers is a singer.
@@tomedwards1879 Nah. Gillan has a great range. The screams were just dynamics that were the icing on the cake.
@@grobbler1well ive seen them both live. Im telling you Gillan is not in the same league. Not even close
@@tomedwards1879 Nah.
God, that man can sing. Sounds as good as he did in 1970.
Saw him 4 years ago at DTE in Clarkston and I'm wowed
Better!!!! I seen FREE at the Syndrome when I was a junior in high school.
Bad ass song love bad company Do.To.Do.
What does Paul Rodgers, now 71, do to keep so young?
Without a doubt one of the best voices in rock.
I'm 64 and was a teenager when Free were at their prime .
Inspiration.
66 here. I think Paul Rodgers has the best voice in all of R&R!!
@@lynnbaker9264 I’d give that to Roger Daltrey or Chris Cornell, but Paul is phenomenal no doubt about that!
@@allbottledup9513WHAT ABOUT ROBERT PLANT, YOU CAN'T BE THE FRONTMAN FOR THE ZEPPELIN IF CAN'T SING. PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL MY FRIEND'S. 🙏✌️😎🏴
that's always been my opinion too!
Why is this guy not in the Rock'n'Roll Hall of Fame!?!?!?
Sometimes, I just forget to breathe when I hear his voice.
" He's in a league all in his own.."👍❤💯💥💢🤟🙏💪

One star who actually looks as though he is enjoying himself

Tom Jones?

@@gary8306 no and no not then and not now never!
Walt you are so RIGHT ON!!!
An honourable mention to Fred Turner (Bachman Turner Overdrive.)
Dude is “the rock singer’s rock singer” and consistently lives up to that honorific.
Yes the real "meant and potatoes" type. No one quite as good.
I used to wake up to this tune when I was 13 to do my paper round. I am now nearly 60.
My favorite underrated song ever.
Now that’s a live performance quality can’t beat old school rock

Wow, what a voice, that's a real rock singer. Great song.
brilliant, and he's 70 this year (Dec 2019)
Just the best
I got goosebumps and tears in my eyes and that is not often these days. First time i listen to this live version, always loved the song and always loved his voice, but as it said down below in the comments oh God that man can sing
Damn these guys know how to put on a show. His voice sounds amazing. Damn!!
Yea the first time I was invited in to listen to the free album I felt boxed of
That’s cool at the end when the band momentarily fades and Paul holds the mic around the diaphragm and belts it out. You young uns take note of this singer.
Paul Rodgers voice never ages. He seems like the type of guy you'd want to sit at the bar with and have a nice cold one and good conversation.
I modelled my voice on this guy at the age of 14. I'm still trying! Now 71 and playing live gigs, I praise Paul Rgers as one of the gretest rock voices of all time.
RONNIE VAN ZANT OF LYNYRD SKYNYRD ALWAYS SAID THAT PAUL RODGERS HAS THE BEST ROCK AND ROLL VOICE, COUSIN FIGEL
Rogers is a legend one of the all time greats

Best Rock vocalist.
Paul the voice! Fvck he's still GOT IT!!!!
First record i bought back in 1970!
Paul Rodgers is absolutely amazing - he is doing the vocals of this track after almost 50 years as good or even better than in 1972....
His voice is even better now than the 70s! Love him.
Rodgers was and still is a great rock vocalist, 1 of the all time greats, but i wud still put daltrey and plant ahead of him imo.
@@colingeddes2172 O.K.But you can't mix aplle and grape!!! Paul has special colour in his voice...R.I.P.!!!
@@ZUGI849 he isn’t dead wtf
He has more control over his vocal capacity now I prefer his voice back in the early days of free he was raw bluesy mean and ferocious at his peak
The man has got some pipes.
i have to comment one more time beacause it is the best version of this great song i,ve heard so far.
After almost 50 years since the song first came out, the voice of Paul Rogers hasn't wavered one bit. The man and his music is timeless! FREE is barely appreciated NOW for ALL the music it made LONG ago.
