Always a treat to hear your thoughts dear Nikhil, I wasn't particularly moved by this collection personally. I find this overload of vintage materials to be a bit unpleasant at times. Wish Russian would go back to his roots and tried to recreate the perfumes that made him famous a few years back. Take care brother 🙏

vintage, hell yes. i dont think areej would fit in to the synthetics, focusing on contemporary compositions. and i REALLY doubt you know even 3% what vintage really means. for example would you know what artistic compositions the year 1300 or say 500 bc would compose. youre probably thinking pre 1950s? yeah youre in for more education, beware before using the word vintage in any perfume topic, a real perfume educated individual would just chuckle.

Always look forward to any video you make. That said, I was not impressed with these scents when I got my sample set, I was very underwhelmed.

I still have about 15 mls of Oud Zen.
Getting a bottle of AdN . I just sprayed Santal Galore on . Gonna try come Oct 3rd for one.
Still have a FB of Oud Picante. Ohh, I love that one. A decant also.
I like the whole 6th collection .
Going to try and get partials of Musk Lave & Grandenia.

Great review bhai.... i tested these samples and kind of disappointing given the fact that his previous releases were simply brilliant. Agreed with the comment of Dimitri below that somehow the overloaded use of vintage materials changed the environment here. Nothing to take away from dear Adam & his passion of course.
Furthermore, what I felt with most of his work is that these may be something unique for western audiences but those from South Asia may not find it blockbuster. As most of the fragrances they would feel quite familiar.
Thats my personal thoughts of course :)

Western people (especially those with european white background) have a very bland culture when it comes to perfume and food therefore what they find exotic/ wild, we of asian/middle eastern background find it nothing special or new! We also have a much bigger experience with oriental ingredients which they dont have so we don't get the same associations or emotional reaction

Wonderful review as always Doc..Adn is shifting beautifully..also Grandenia isn’t as indolic as it was initially and the oud is now standing out more ( def my favourite but I didn’t get to try Santal Galore)

Musk Lave is an absolute favourite, It looked simple at first but i was completely bowled over by the quality of it & it gives a complete satisfaction while it is on & it last whole day..Santal galore is also growing up on me but i wont buy it. Happy with the sample. Grandenia is third perfume which i like from the collection..rest 2 seemed familiar.
Few reviewed the collection in YT recently but you stand out.....

Beautiful video beautiful person and the perfume house is the best by far far faaar along with ensar oud and bortnikoff I named my son Adam and Russian Adam made me convert to Islam and that really changed my life I was missing out a lot .

I was waiting for your thoughts on these and glad that you got around to doing the reviews. I went with Agar de Noir (as I know Adam makes nice Oud scents) and Musc Lave (well, your reaction to it said enough). I got the sample pack and tested them all, but still needed to hear your thoughts.
It is good that you advice viewers on testing before making a purchase. I am always confident to make mine based on your reviews here and on fragrantica@nikhilsharan and I have never had a reason to regret the plunge. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts.

@nikhil your take on new releases from dixit & zak, it seems your videos have helped them grow their business exponentially, but the vibrancy seems missing from Kashmir and rm 2.
@@nikhilsfrags leave them, I have known from someone that you had once crafted a marvellous attar (macerating vetiver with vintage mysore) why don't you make a review on that or release that as your first commercial oil. Anyways I have been macerating benzoin and zatamasi in vintage mysore (20 yrs old) need you to sniff it(it's potent but I need an opinion of a nose I trust) , but don't know how to reach you doc.. P. S (I mean your first solo frag, keeping in mind your legendary collab with our ever so shy brother Adam)
Great to hear your views always Doc! After two wearings this is becoming one of my most interesting ALD collections, of course i have not tried 3 from the first one other than Siberian musk.
Musk Lave is my favourite as of now and Cuir de Russie is great too, Agar de Noir is a better take on Oud Luwak in my opinion. Santal Galore is intriguing, i was expecting an out and out sandalwood fragrance which it isnt. It is quite unique smoky, creamy, powdery fragrance which i think will grow on me. Not one to understand in a couple of wearings. Grandenia is lovely too but maybe a touch feminine. Waiting eagerly for my FB set so that can luxuriate in full blown wearings 😁
PS: i agree Kohinoor is one of ALD's most balanced fragrances and one of my favourites. It really doesnt get spoken about enough. I was disappointed they did not do an attar version of that too.

Does cuir de russie resembles antiquity
No it doesn't really. Some people say it resembles WaP. I don't think so. To me it smells like Koh-i-noor but slightly more leathery and musky...
@@kamurke Totally agree on Koh I Noor, I fell in love with it instantly due to it being so similar. War and Peace is in my opinion not even remotely similar.
I was not that impressed but like his last collection it seems very mixed reactions. Musk Lave to me was very (too) musky for my taste and the lavender was uninspiring to my nose. Give me MEM every day. Grandenia opened quite nicely but ended very indolic and unpleasant on my skin; Santal Galore was more musky again the the sandal so maybe it is my nose or skin. Agar was my favourite but I have enough ouds already (but it is very nice); Cuir de Russie is also very good but not sure I can quite live with that buttery leather on my clothes for days (but I think it his best of the collection). I own 3 of his 4th collection (W&P II) recently added Plumeria and Siberian Summer bought after deciding these were a pass. But your nose is more refined than mine for sure......

Russian Oud, Oud Luwak, Agar de Noir. They all bear some similarities with OP, but they're still different. Closest you can get tho. I heard TRNP's Magus is a bit similar to OP but can't attest to that...
@@kamurke I have Agar de Noir and on my skin it is a candied violet bomb. It would be near impossible to find any older ALD. I also find Oud Luwak to be quite different from oud picante. Never tried Russian oud.
@@nikhilsfrags On my skin Agar De Noir smells very strongly of candied violets.The oud and spice comes through only faintly. Oud Picante I get a almost dizzying blast of beautiful oud interwoven with spice. I bought the full collection and and have a decant of Oud Picante. Wearing Agar noir on one wrist and OP on the other. They smell wildly different to me. I am hoping if it maturates a good while then maybe the violet will soften ,but I worry that the rate of maturation may be different for the vintage ingredients. I guess time will tell.

Overall I was slightly underwhelmed with this collection. In my opinion, the 5th collection was better than this one, but still it is quality, obviously as expected by brother Adam.

Keep your nose on these...they take longer to reveal themselves than previous ALD’s. Dare I say more rewarding too?
