4, 5, 6, 7, 8. Taking down a pandemic via perfume. This month is marking a breakthrough is fragrance NEVER, NEVER seen before. They all buried there heads in there studios during these times and worked. We are seeing the fruit of their work now.
I bring to you my first impressions of the 6th collection of Areej Le Dore.
SANTAL GALORE 50ml
Classical, fruity chypre with an outstanding, one-of-a-kind, durian absolute on a bed of spicy, old handcrafted sandalwood extracts and powdery, animalic musk.
Top notes: Malaysian Musang King Durian and Indonesian sandalwood co-absolute crafted by Russian Adam
Heart notes: Turkish rose water, rose accord from 1920, jasmine, osmanthus and ancient Indonesian sandalwood root smoke extracted by Russian Adam
Base notes: deer musk pod tincture, oakmoss, tonka, cassia accord, clove and old Mysore sandalwood absolute made by Russian Adam
Note: this perfume contains extraordinary natural absolute from Durian fruit co-extracted with sandalwood. This may result in residue or minor crystallization of the natural sugars. This not impact an olfactory quality of the composition. The presentation of this perfume features natural materials such as teak wood (box) and sandalwood (cap). Please be aware of some natural defects and imperfections of these beautiful and precious materials.
CUIR DE RUSSIE 30ml - Garment Perfume (to be used only on cloth)
Hugely animalic, floriental leather, featuring unique, vintage birch tar and beaver tail oil. Cuir de Russie is for scenting clothing, not skin.
Top notes: birch tar from 1920 - 1930
Heart notes: antique violet attar from 1930, blue lotus accord, rose and jasmine absolute
Base notes: beaver tail oil, deer musk and crude amber oil
MUSK LAVE 30ml
A classical fougère… with a remarkable twist. Musk Lave is a fresh, animalic barbershop composition, featuring natural, wild Siberian deer musk and unparalleled antique lavender oil and absolute.
Top notes: bergamot and lavender from 1920
Heart notes: lavender absolute from 1915 - 1920, osmanthus, aged Mysore sandalwood and wild Siberian deer musk
Base notes: iris accord, oakmoss and labdanum
AGAR DE NOIR 30ml
Darkness upon darkness. Ancient spices, wild ouds from Laos and India, spread upon a lush, fragrant carpet of outstanding co-absolute that has been woven of coffee Arabica, saffron, Indonesian oud and ambergris crafted by Russian Adam.
Top notes: vintage spice tinctures of cardamom, arnica, calamus, crataegus, columba and guaiac wood
Heart notes: oud from Laos and India, vintage Arabia and violet accords
Base notes: peru balsam, benzoin, labdanum and tonka bean
GRANDENIA 30ml
The curtain opens upon antique gardenia gardens. An indolic floral feast sprinkled with ancient spices. A liaison between an oriental smoky oud beast and old-style, French perfumery. Welcome to the olfactory performance that is Grandenia.
Top notes: bergamot and lemon accords from circa 1930; olibanum absolute
Heart notes: indolic gardenia accord from circa 1930; vintage oils of
cinnamon, nutmeg and rosemary from the 1920s
Base notes: saffron, fossil amber oil from circa 1920, Indonesian dark
patchouli, black ambergris, myrrh, tonka, sandal floral blend from
circa 1950; Thai oud chips from a 30 year old tree, infused with smoke

My sample set should be arriving within a few hours. It'll be my first experience with ALD. Hearing you and everyone else's impressions has me really hyped.

Most likely. Probably quicker with DHL. USPS is a toss up.

It's different than what you would expect. Almost shouldn't be called Santal, but I do think it's mind blowing so far.

Yes Ranju I think you will be one to understand what sandalwood does in a composition it is quite unique and well composed.

The dry down on musk lave is phenomenal. Powdery lavender with musk. My second favorite is cuir de russie.

Yes musk lave is very nice and easy to wear, but I don’t like the design of the bottle, I don’t know if I will buy it or not cause I don’t like the design of the bottle, do you find the design is good ?

USPS has my samples still stuck in Jersey City and I'm out West. Ordering kept crashing and had to order by card rather than Paypal just to get through - took 15 minutes even though I was signed in with all my details pre-filled, should have taken 3 minutes at most if all went smooth. My sample order from LuckyScent with USPS took 7 days after leaving store, stuck in LAX station just to cross one state line. With ALD I'd be willing to pay for DHL next time.
Ouch. Yes unfortunate with this, they are all learning about technology.
Musk Lave and Agar de Noir are my favs so far. Haven't had a chance to try Cuir de Russie. Not completely sold on Santal Galore, but the drydown was quite nice. Grandenia I sampled on a test strip - it's pretty but not for me. Agar de Noir may be a buy but it strikes me as a polarizing scent despite the positive forum reviews so far and definitely hard to wear...similar to W&P in that regard. I suspect Musk Lave will be the most popular in this collection; ALD's musk-heavy frags are all really, really good.

@@TherapeuticFragrance I have Siberian Musk and I've sampled Russian Musk. I hope we get a Russian Musk II because I regret not buying a bottle. Your "ALD ranked" video added to that regret. 😅 The try-before-you-buy process for this series was well-executed. Perhaps the other mega-hype houses follow suit? They should...

I’ve contacted the House of Le Dore, and they told me that the sample sets have completely sold out. In fact, they are concerned that they won’t be able to fulfill the orders that were already placed. Quite the conundrum. This means I will have to blind buy, which I hate. Which of these 5 fragrances would you recommend? Which of these lean more feminine? Thanks in advance.
I will be reviewing the ones I am buying. SG is the only one I would put at 50/50. I mean these are all over the place for people. I only think a couple will sell out right away unfortunately I think it will be the ones I will be reviewing.

I feel like Attars showcase sandalwood better than spray format. I’ve been alittle let down on these reviews about Santal Galore. I was really hoping to hear that sandalwood was a bit more prominent. I’m still waiting on my samples so I’ll hold my tongue until they get here because I’ll probably end up eating my words. For now Agar De Noir seems the most promising!
Please listen to the others (BECAUSE OF LIMITATION). LOL in all seriousness this will be mis-understood. Until you start playing with the material I never understood what it did to other ingredients. The only attars I have seen them work in is where the sandalwood makes up almost the entire composition. Once you compose as a perfume it takes on the other notes and binds like an oil of love rather than show off on its own. I only know by playing around. To achieve a sandal only smell without synthetic it would have to be only a couple ingredients. I don't want to yamor on any more before my review, but I get what people are saying I haven't read I just get people this will be misunderstood and hidden for a few. I am holding back so much here. Can't wait to hear your thoughts after a couple full wearing. Don't mix on those days.
@@TherapeuticFragrance I did a full wear today, and the progressions are interesting. The part I found to like the most was the smoke that poked through at different times. It does sit close to the skin. 8 hours in and I have to put nose to skin to smell. I do think that this one will be a love for some and ho hum for others.
Mr.J I agree with all of that. This reminds of the days with Indolis and Walimah. Stong voiced people only know about oud, musk and darker ingredients. I have said many time this is where Adam is underrated as a perfumer. This work is really good composition wise. Smell is not for all, but the composition.

Oakmoss... WHAT? On Santal Galore... It comes in to balance the sweet fruit with bitter about 20-30 minutes in and its NICE!

You do have a faint resemblance to Zangief. Shorter and more refined but maybe these guys have street fighter in their subconscious.

Today was my first spray of it. Swiping definitely adds the sweetness and spraying made it a lot more aromatic. The fragrance is aptly named
I sprayed Cuir de Russie on my forearm... it reminded me a lot of Russian Musk😁

@@TherapeuticFragrance nope...just had that one sprayed on. I sprayed once on my arm and one spray on my clothes. Might be a skin chemistry thing coz the one which I sprayed on my skin evolved a bit differently than the one on my clothes.
I just smelled the one I sprayed on the note card today and It's so animalic. The beaver tail is loud. Kind of like it.
@@TherapeuticFragrance He blends it so well, that to an untrained nose like mine it becomes very difficult to pinpoint the exact notes.... especially notes like the beaver tail which I have never smelled before.😁
BTW, just out of curiosity, do you get a little bit of Russian Oud vibe from Agar de Noir and YSL Opium vibe from Grandenia?
