She has the rare ability to literally think ahead of a note. Her playing keys/organ also helps her to know exactly what notes she wants to land on in a run. And now it’s so effortless. She can sing the same song a million times and every time it’s gratifyingly different. She tops herself. She understands music theory in a way that people in classical music do.
Brother I have so much more respect for you. It’s ok to show what God means to you even in this moment and manner. Don’t hold back. Your gift is music and breaking down vocals that we sometime miss but also we know you are human and might be moved by a song cause it speaks to a moment in your life. I’m right here praising with you man. Right here. God be the Glory.
Can you do a vocal analysis of Write my name with Dorinda Clark Cole, Donnie McClurkin, Tye Tribbet, Yolonda Adams, Kierra Sheard, and Kim Burrell Please. That was golden
When you kept trying to Quench the spirit of God through this video, I was like, “God about to have His way anyways”. And sure enough He did! You started ministering yourself. You went off of analyzing Kim Burrell vocals and really started breaking down the lyrics of the song and had us to really envision what Calvert is about! I’m like he is teaching and preaching! Let God have his way!!!!
Love you JaRon, God continue to bless you praying he will bless your going out and, coming in . Increase your with his favor with him ,and man.continue Jesus to give him your ,wisdom insight( he will see through your eyes Lord) understanding, and discernment. He is breathing on you God bless you ,and keep you ,and be gracious to you cause his face to shine on you , and gave you his Peace.
I read that Kim was classically trained as a soprano sometime in the 2010s which is why her range expanded like that (or I suppose you could say solidified cause she could always hit high notes, they just weren't as easy). And that rasp is intentional, that I'm pretty sure of - if you look up her singing Let There Be Peace on Earth in 2015 at the Kennedy Center, her tone is CRYSTAL CLEAR
I am not sure what you’re hearing this rumor about her being classical time but he is not. Kim has always had range from the early 90s when she used to do leads for recording gospel choirs and her first album. She has always had a little rasp that turned into a husk once she started having vocal issues. She addressed her issues with vocal lessons and medical attention and her voice got clearer and lost the husk and when back to the slight rasp she had. However her vibrato got a little slower. But you are right, her voice got clearer because she has been putting in the work. However I will say that her rasp isn’t intentional. It’s always been a part of her vocal identity because of how her vocal folds close as she sings. She speaks with a rasp as well. But when she applies the technique she learned in the mid 2000s, it helps to reduce rasp and induce clarity. It’s more accurate to say that her clarity is intentional. Her rasp however is her default way of singing.
This man gave me professional vocalist AND minister all in one video! I was INformed and TRANSformed! Let Him use ya! Thanks for being yourself and still doing your job!
I’ve never paid so much attention to Kim Burrell’s technique. This woman has mastered her gift. Just listening to her voice from the last 25 years or so, I don’t notice any change. She must take excellent care of her instrument. You both ministered and taught me through this video. Thank you for your service Jaron ✊🏾
I just want to speak on how much power you show in doing these reviews. I not only watch for your opinions of what the singers are displaying but also to feel your energy, your strengths and of course your voice also--though I haven't heard you sing an entire song, I know you can sang! Keep sharing your energy--we so need it.
Just found your channel and I’ve been watching video after video. I must say I love hearing you break down these black singers. I’ve seen other non-black teachers/coaches try to break down some gospel singers but they don’t catch everything or aren’t always accurate in demonstrating what the singers are doing. Also, I really do love when you accidentally start preaching. It’s really encouraging and inspiring to see your love for God and reminds me that we’re not just singing, we’re worshiping.
Worship Him!! I love everything about this analysis! Have always admired the musicality of Kim Burrell. She has definitely expanded her vocal range and her runs are as consistent as ever.
Kim can chew, eat, and spit out any song from the depths of her soul. Truly a gifted and anointed vocalist. I will forever be in love with her skill and technique she blows me away with Mary had a little Lamb lol.
LUVVVVV your Ministry! Thank you for sharing your anointing. I needed to hear this today, on so many levels. May God continue to bless you and lift you higher and higher!
She has her own Calvary too that I really enjoy. Nonetheless, her interpretation of this classic was good. Baybeeee this new range that she has 🔥🔥🔥. Love your vid 💜.
I never heard this song before. This is my favorite analysis to date! Because you went so deep & wide to even choose this heavy & poignant piece. And then!!!... You let the Holy Spirit use you to preach to the gospel to all who listened!!! Praise God for this mighty song, your superb analysis, and the anointing that fell on you this day!!!! Surely He died on Calvary for me!!!
I liked your analysis of her vocal technique and your general comment on rendition of the song when ministering. You're fantastic Jaron. loved it very much. Thanks
Jaron, you’ve said a mouthful today!!! Thank you for your heart and your honesty. I believe some people who sing the gospel forget it’s about ministry. Singing from the heart. You don’t have to hit every run or whatever it might be, but sing as unto the Lord! God bless you sir! God bless you.
You can’t possibly claim to know Him, and the delivery of this not touch your soul!! The way Kim did this...made me reflect upon why I love Him like I do🙌🏽🙌🏽 Jaron.....God is using you!!!! You are greatly appreciated Sir.

Being a musician and/or vocalist, we feel music differently (i.e. deeper). I love the piano's and organ's intro too. I have to download and play this. I love how Kim always has a touch of jazz when she sings. Yes Lord, the background singers are slaying. Their harmony is tight. I agree with you. I closed my eyes and was transported to that day. You made it through the song...good job! (But I saw that tear) Me? I'm messed up on the intro. This is one of those songs you can't just fly through. You gotta stop, sit down and listen to this story of Calvary. And it may take 2 or 3 more times just to let it minister to you. Kim Burrell is a phenomenal singer but the background singers? You gotta come with your A game when you sing with people like Kim Burrell. Hats off to the background singers, director, and musicians.

Hi Jaron! I have no words. The anointing is crazy when you minister. Your testimony is weighty and everyone who watches this channel needs to hear it. Don't hold back anymore. Btw this song is older than the Richard Smallwood 80's copy. A quartet by the name of Slim and the Supreme Angels sang it back in the 60s and for what it's worth, it was good considering the limited amount of instruments they had. Check it out. I've only been watching you since last night and I so love you. Thank you!
Please listen to the original from Richard Smallwood as well. You will be Blessed! Wore my mama's albums out when I was young. Powerful song and now presented once again through this powerhouse of a vocalist
Wow, thanks. This was an awesome rendition by Kim Burrell and thanks for a great breakdown. Appreciate your passion and authenticity. Mighty blessings brother! Glory to God!
She sang the story of Calvary and when she got to that climax where she went way up, it was like a scream to really drive home what was going on. You could visualize everything she sang.
