I was at this recording at Bailey Cathedral in Detroit, MI. It was absolutely unforgettable. She forever gained a fan with the way she turned this entire album out. I still listen to it to this day. The Clark Sisters are pioneers. Your review of this song is spot on, it is a difficult song that she makes look effortless.

Love me some Lady Karen! She’s a masterclass in vocal technique and execution! This is by far one of my favorite gospel songs of ALL time! A true praise BOP! ❤️
When people ask what album reminds me of my childhood, the answer is always Finally Karen for me. My family is SDA and my mother played this EVERY sabbath morning for months. Before my sister was stringing multiple sentences together, she took her pacifier out and sung this song word for word. We were shocked. My sister learned how to sing by listening to this album. This lime green CD cover is engraved in my mind forever. Karen Clark-Sheard is a top 3 singer ever in my eyes. You definitely did her justice with this video. God bless her

I think the love for Jesus for this album and I still listen to it all these years later I had to be I had the VHS or berean Christian store I actually met Karen at berean Christian store in Atlanta I was so broke then I couldn't buy her CD you about your eyes at me and said you going to buy my CD or she was nice to me and waved at me when they rode by the nice black truck like she was the president's wife she was so humble and lively

So I was Baptist until my dad passed then my mom took us to the SDA Church when I was like 11. I was rebellious but like you I've come to appreciate some of the doctrine. Presently I don't go to church that often (church hurt and politics) but I still a believer. Trying to redevelop my relationship with God. Blessings to you Rico Mars.

I love how Karen made it her own! This song was on their album Heart and Soul back in 1985 and then Karen did it on her debut album Finally Karen in 1997. Detroit's own!!!!!! I love how they remained in Detroit and surrounding areas!
Sis Clarke is giving a nod to Michael Jackson with her "uniform" and Earth Wind & Fire with the "Oh-OO-Oh". Though the Clark Sisters are straight COGIC, they definitely have an R&B influence.

Don’t forget that she had braces in this video. When you have braces a lot of time it also makes you talk and or sing in a way so that your braces don’t get caught on the interiors of the mouth. Still outstanding singing by First Lady Sheard while wearing orthodontics. Haha she can’t be beat! EVAA!

Lord, my mom has an old VHS with The Clark Sosters singing You Brought the Sunshine. We wore that VHS out! Karen has always been effortless and continues to be. A much welcomed breakdown, Jaron. ❤❤❤

Whitney came from a long line of singers. Whitney loved good singing. Her mother, Dionne, they also say her grandmother was a great singer, leyonte price a well known opera singer who's also Whitney's cousin. Singing background for chaka and Luther, watching aretha recording sessions in person. Singing along side all the winans clan etc. Whitney was never intimidated by other singers. Whitney's "I am changing" in london Wembley Or "A quiet place" shows just how much of a gospel singer she was and if she would have stayed gospel she would have probably ended up recording with the clark sisters.
