Okay so I made these donuts today and the verdict is in....drum roll plz......OMG!! AAAHHHMAZING!!!! Finally, a donut recipe that came out GREAT! move over Krispy Kreme you got some competition. Let's see, I used 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour, plus a lip more for kneading. I used added 3 1/3 cups veggie oil to my 13-14 inch wok. Got the white line around the middle ( YAY!!!). These donuts puffed up bigger than I thought. I got at least 16. Next time I might add 1/2 teaspoon of salt instead of 1/4 teaspoon just to see if there's a difference in taste. I set my electric stove between 3 and 4. The donuts cooked for a little over 2 minutes per side. I will definitely be making these more often. TFS this wonderful recipe sweetie😋😋😋😘😘😘😍😍😍💕💕💕👍👍👍👌👌👌
I also want to point out that it's a good idea to spray some nonstick spray on the plastic you use to cover donuts while they rise
You may have some donuts that won't rise as large as the others. Remember these smaller donuts won't need to fry as long as the large ones
I used large eggs because that's all I had. Medium eggs are not sold often in my area. Very rare do I see them

Notice the oil at first when placing the first 4 doughnuts the oil is sizzling. Than after all 5 doughnuts are in; the doughnuts are barely sizzling. That tells me the oil was Turned down to completely., the first Two minutes then flipped over but oil is not sizzling at all. So the doughnuts are frying in low heat temperature. Otherwise Two minutes would be burned. So make sure temperature is turned down immediately after test of pinch dough. Hope it helps. Practice makes perfect.

No. This is a perfect example of overcrowding. 2 doughnuts at a time would have been ideal. The combined temp of the room temp doughnuts dropped the temp of the oil. Those doughnuts probably came out soggy as hell. Oil has to be at a temp to bubble to cook properly. That boiling oil is basically the moisture being boiled off. That's how the food will fry. Once that temp gets low enough that the oil can't fry properly, it will soak into the food.

At first I used the 3½ cup of flour measurement but it was too sticky, so I added more flour in order to get a consistency just like yours and it turned out so good. @@oclashes6922 Hello. You can use a kitchen thermometer to check if the oil for frying your donut is hot enough. The temperature of the oil should be between 370-375F or 180-190C.
If you do not have a thermometer, you can dip the handle of a wooden spoon, skewer or chopstick in the oil. If the oil bubbles around the wooden spoon, then it is ready for frying.
Another way to ensure that the frying oil isn't too hot, is when you're able to put a finger into the oil without getting burnt.
It is important you monitor the temp of the oil before you begin frying and during the frying process.

Just made these! They came out fluffy as described. A few things I would change for next time would be to add a bit more sugar to the dough as well as vanilla and maybe a dash of salt .. I personally felt the dough wasn’t sweet enough. And definitely watch your oil because they cook fast and the more brown the tougher they seem to get. So for a light golden brown I would turn the heat down a bit after it has heated up completely before adding your dough to the oil. Overall 8/10 recipe!

@@skizeksj359 I would use vegetable oil, or canola oil, or sunflower oil, but don't use an olive oil because it will make your donuts untasty. You want the temperature of your oil around 325 degrees. If you want to test the oil to see if it is hot enough, dip the edge of your donut into the oil. If the oil doesn't start bubbling, frying, then your oil isn't hot enough to start frying your donuts yet. As soon as your donuts begin frying when they touch the hot oil, then the oil is hot enough. Hope this helps you. If you're unsure about the right temperature of your oil, just put one donut in to fry at first. See how well it begins to cook. You will see the dough change color, and know it's time when you should flip it over. They fry quickly, so don't walk away to do anything else....or they could burn quickly.😌

I love how this approach gets right to it and is without fuss or frills. It’s funny how doing things simply and straightforward makes better outcomes. One could spend too much time debating trivial questions in regard to amount or time. But that is making a mountain out of a molehill. Excellent video

I got what you said so what kind of flour did you used in this doughnuts making? Always be specific in giving ingredients because there are different types of flours. By this I mean don't say for example 3 1/2 cups of flour but say 3 1/2 cups of bread flour. Thank.

    • @Mygraciously
      @Mygraciously 2 роки тому +2

Well said! Makes me wonder if she is even a chef. Not being mean; but true professional gives in grams plus names the specific flour and temperature of oil. Maybe she had recipe translated and that is where mistakes occurred. Than that wouldn't be her fault. Going to make two batches one with bread flour and other All purpose.

    • @abbylynn8872
      @abbylynn8872 Рік тому

The problem with converting to grams is grams is a measure of weight. Most who bake using cups don't have a kitchen scale. Just going a math conversion, well 1 cup of flour weighs less than 1 cup of sugar.
I understand the sentiment. And from an accessibility from a global perspective providing both measurements would be never level service, remember this is free content being provided for you.

    Instructions
Step 1 (00 min 43 sec): Add 3 ½ Cups (438.04 Grams) of All Purpose OR Bread Flour to a Large Aluminum/Glass Bowl OR a Stand Mixer Bowl
2 (1 min 27 sec): Add ¼ Teaspoon of Salt
3 (1 min 29 sec): Add 1 Tablespoon of Yeast (Active Dry Yeast)
    4 (1 min 42 sec): 1/3 Cup (67 Grams) of Sugar
5 (1 min 54 sec): Mix Dry Ingredients up in bowl
6 (2 min 04 sec): Add 2 Tablespoons of Room Temperature Soft Butter to the Dry Ingredients bowl
7 (2 min 17 sec): Add 2 Medium Size Eggs to the Dry Ingredients bowl
8 (2 min 26 sec): Add ½ Cup of Water + ¼ Cup of Water (110 - 115 Degrees Fahrenheit) to the Dry Ingredients bowl
9: Prepare the surface/counter you plan to knead the dough by wiping it clean and throwing down some Flour so the dough does not stick
10 (2 min 44 sec): Slowly Whisk the ingredients together JUST to combine
(Stand Mixer) With a Dough Hook, turn the mixer setting on 1 and slowly increase the speed
11 (2 min 51 sec): After ingredients is combined, wet/grease your hands to knead the dough in the bowl to combine the ingredients more
(Stand Mixer) Increase the setting to 2 or 3 for 15 Minutes
12 (2 min 58 sec): Pour the dough from the bowl to the surface/counter
13 (3 min 02 sec): Knead the dough for 20 Minutes
14 (3 min 21 sec): If dough is too watery, add Flour in small increments like ¼ or 1/3 Cup
15 (3 min 39 sec): After 20 minutes of kneading the dough, BEAT the Dough hard for 5 Minutes
(Stand Mixer) Finish by Hand by Beating the Dough hard for 5 Minutes
16 (3 min 59 sec): The dough should be ELASTIC after 25 Minutes of kneading by Hand Or Stand Mixer (Ex: stretch a small piece to see if it looks clear)
17 (4 min 04 sec): Allow the dough to Rest for 5 Minutes
18: While the dough is Resting, pull out the Parchment Paper
19 (4 min 07 sec): Folder the Parchment Paper the width of your Donut Hole Cutter
20: Fold the Parchment Paper as many times as needed to make enough individual sheets to cut out with scissors for each donut
21 (4 min 46 sec): Lay the individual Parchment Paper sheets out on a Cookie Tray
22: Sprinkle some Flour on each individual Parchment Paper so the Donut dough does not stick
23 (5 min 19 sec): Prepare the surface/counter by throwing down some Flour so the dough does not stick
24: Pour the Resting Dough from the bowl onto the Floured surface/counter
25: Get Flour on both sides of the dough
26 (5 min 24 sec): Use a Rolling Pin to roll the dough out in a square ½ inch THICK - THICK enough to get 7 + donuts
27 (5 min 54 sec): Use a Donut Hole Cutter to cut out donut dough by pressing the cutter and turning left or right
28: Put donut dough onto to individual Parchment Paper
29: If there is donut dough left over, roll it into a ball and repeat steps 19 - 27
30 (6 min 18 sec): After all donut dough has been cut and placed on the cookie tray, let the Donut Dough REST (Proof) for 45 - 50 Minutes
Ex: Oven - Turn on oven light
31: Turn on stove burner to warm the oil between 370-375F or 180-190C
Oil Temperature Technique: Dip the handle of a wooden spoon, skewer or chopstick in the oil. If the oil bubbles around the wooden spoon, then it is ready for frying
32 (6 min 34 sec): After Proofing the donut dough, confirming the temperature of the oil is between 370-375F or 180-190C, and using the “Oil Temperature Technique”, pick up 1-2 donut doughs and slide them in the oil to fry
***Do NOT Crowd the Donuts - Allow space***
33 (6 min 52 sec): Allow donuts to cook for AT LEAST 2 Minutes on each side
    34 (7 min 00 sec): Turn the donuts with a wooden skewer/fork/etc.
35 (7 min 13 sec): Use a spoon or spatula with holes in it that will scoop up the whole donut and allow grease to drip off in the pan or pot
36 (7 min 46 sec): You can place the fried donuts onto a plate or cookie sheet covered with a paper towel
37 (8 min 01 sec): Allow the donuts to cool before glazing or filling them
38 (8 min 11 sec): Cover donuts with Sugar
