Of all the great musicians I've seen go in my 71 years... If I could bring just one back, it's Rory. The best of the best as a musician and as a great human being. God bless you Rory, you did yourself and Ireland proud
Saw Rory play many times but the best was always New Years Eve in the City Hall in Cork. Always opened with Going to my Home Town.. Absolute magic!! RIP Rory and Maggie..
He meant every single note. A great acoustic as well as electric player, writer, interpreter, singer, harpist, band leader...JESUS! R.I.P., Rory, you were a true master and inspiration.
And ST William Rory Gallagher, one of 484 saints beatified and canonized by JP2, knew all 200 tunes of Macloain (sp?),"sing me the history of my country, ' tis sweet to me.(1947 -1995).Old Chris, a retired fiddler of Albuquerque NM D A E B tune
Saw him first in Belfast, I think it was 1976, still haven't found anyone who comes close! Often wonder what he would be doing now. Humility of the truely great, as Ronnie Drew once put it. Wonderful!
All great that has been said about this man is true and then some.He is simply GREAT.His playin and singing is very genuine. His techniques and TONES are special.
Imagine Rory with Neil young unplugged both with frames around the necks... the incredible playing...this is special...!!? Miss you Rory you feckin legend
a great musician who conveyed a real message and meaning while being a very talented guitarrist and who brought the Irish culture and temperament ro Germany and the world
Definitely watching one the best blues men in my lifetime, I missed the opportunity to see Rory live, thank you all for keeping these videos and his music alive. Rory I hope to see you on the other side to thank you personally for what you left behind. RIP
fine sound on this. man with exceptional talent, god given...i mean, he was obviously born gifted and worked hard to hone that gift/skill to perfection; and we, the listeners, were made (appreciative) recipients. i mean, allegedly the man could change a string without stopping the song.
@CMT Yeah, would definitely have to agree. Maybe Rory just practiced his ass off from a young age out of respect for/because he was so in love with all the great music he obviously adored and wanted either to be able to emulate it and/or do his own thing down the line. Anyroad absolutely brilliant musician however he got there. As for being able to change a string without stopping a song have you ever heard such ridiculous bollocks in all your life? Maybe unbeknownst to the rest of us the big guy in the sky also gave Rory an additional pair of invisible hands.
Robert Wright jaysus never heard that about changing a string, I did see him down in Cork one time and dropped his tuning a whole step and didn't stop playing singing and being the general charmer he is. Regarding this guy ridiculing God given, it's a saying meaning he was born with an ability, no question of it
RORY GALAGHER AO VIVO E A CORES NÃO É PRA QUALQUER UM, AINDA BEM QUE TÔ VIVO PRA VER ISSO. INCRÍVEL E RECOMENDÁVEL PRA QUALQUER VELHO DE MEIA IDADE. REVIGORANTE.
For me...this is what separates Rory Gallagher from everyone else...his ability to play acoustic guitar as well as solid body electric guitar and then toss in the harmonica as well.
What makes you think people don't acknowledge his talent? He influenced some of the most famous guitarists, he was a great success and millions of people around the world still love his music.
If you got money in the bank, Don't let your woman draw it out, Cause she'll take all your money...and, Then she'll kick you out. I once had money and a fast Cadillac car, But I made one big mistake, let my baby know where they are, And she took all my possessions...and, Then she threw me out. Now young men, heed my advice, I'll tell you once, I may not tell you twice, Keep an eye on your old lady anytime that she goes steppin' out. There's only one woman that I hate more, You know who that is, why that's my mother-in-law, My baby's pretty fast but her mother's even faster on the… My baby, my little baby I believe she's gonna jump'n shout, And I walk down to the bank, And I draw all of my money out. Well you got money in the bank, Don't let your woman draw it out, Cause she'll take all your money...and, Then she'll throw you out.
Rory is too good for us. Rory is not an artist, not as we are used to seeing an artist. Rory is not a musician spectacle as we know the show. Rory is not American, not English. Rory is a misunderstanding blues. An error in the industrial assembly line. Rory is a happy accident to human works more newlyweds. The child's face on a body of alcohol in the hands of oak, heart of mandolin. An unusual Irish struck by radiation from the sublime.
I much preferred the crowds back then. They listened and let others listen. Imagine it today. It'd be full of whooping and screaming because the crowd want to be the main star of the show as opposed to the performer these days.
Of all the great musicians I've seen go in my 71 years... If I could bring just one back, it's Rory. The best of the best as a musician and as a great human being. God bless you Rory, you did yourself and Ireland proud

Above every charisma he had in music, Rory was a good man....a nice soul...a wonderfull human being....
I play this every now and then. Just love it. There’s only Rory. Nobody comes near.
We'll never see the likes of this guy again. He was one of a kind.
isnt everyone?
He meant every single note. A great acoustic as well as electric player, writer, interpreter, singer, harpist, band leader...JESUS! R.I.P., Rory, you were a true master and inspiration.

+Robert Wright yes indeed! I never get tired of hearing his wonderful music :)
Another idiot saying talent is 'god-given'. You're pathetic.

Wow, he did Broonzy's style pretty damn well here.
If you love Rory's National Steel and acoustic blues you must give John Campbell ( RIP both of you gems ) a listen
Glad you like it, it's in stereo not mono, you may need to get your speakers checked or if it's headphones you might need new one's
Lory was,is God !!!! ... to me

If you’re going to play and sing by yourself you better be fearless and have the goods. Check and check.
