Loving how EVERYTHING is turning out! The new stores, the beautiful Magnolia Park area, it's all just lovely. Also great to note that the Cars Land walls are down and the new seating area has opened up!
As someone who has been to Disney World many times, but never Disneyland (hoping to get out there before too long though) I am blown away. This queue looks fantastic! The MK HM queue is painfully basic by comparison, though the interactive grave things are kinda neat
That new arrangement of Grim Grinning Ghosts is AWESOME. Love the remix. It sounds much more classical and yet is still creepy, humorous, nostalgic, and new all at the same time. The music reminds me of the classical remix of the Harry Potter music that plays in the locker area of Forbidden Journey and then in the first parts of the queue. Great job Disney! Subtle, but great enhancement/change.
The music for the queue is SOO GOOD I love it 😭😭 I’ve always wanted something like this and it looks gorgeous, almost better than what they have everywhere else. I’m so glad my favorite ride gets love :)))
We are getting up EARLY tomorrow morning and driving down from Sacramento to hit the parks over the weekend!! So happy to see that a lot of the walls are finally coming down! Watched many construction updates from you crossing my fingers that it would all be done by the time we come. We can’t wait to see it all in person, have beignets & ride Tiana’s 🎉
FreshBaked. David, Disney did an 11 out of 10 today with what was revealed. The new Magnolia Park looks so much larger than it did before. They are certainly doing a lot more work with the footpaths to ease guest flow where possible. I had a great time, thank you. Cheers, Chris Perry.
As a very frequent user of the wheelchair ramp at the NOS station, there are a couple of tweaks to it. The most important - by far - is the addition of stairs to allow ambulatory guests to exit without having to make their way through the folks waiting in line on the ramp. I'll need to see it in person to be sure, but I suspect the entire ramp was removed and rebuilt. It looks a bit different but I can't put my finger on it.
Who is not inviting you to media day! We need to have a chat with them. Literally you are like one of maybe 3 people that don't annoy me! Best info content around! I try to watch these others and I can't watch the whole thing. You talk at a nice pace and and have great info! Ironically the other two Chanel's I can watch are your good friends. Keep it up regardless if you are invited or not!
Because David has actually criticized some of what the new Disney regime does...and if you do that even once...good luck getting invited to any media event. They only want the people the say everything is great and never say anything bad or question anything they do.
@@KrisG397 Sadly that is just the way they do it now...people like David who deserve to be at their media events FAR more then others...will sadly never get the chance unless something changes!
So, I don't think there was a raised brick area near the fountain/planters for seating, but more of just a circular area defined by the bricks. Also LOVE the new orchestral music in the new queue area!
David, in this video you express so well the sense of ownership that we, Disneylanders, feel toward our park. Walt said "... This is your land..." And many people have taken that to heart, caring deeply about the place, dreaming and hoping it will thrive and succeed in every detail and continue to bring joy to the world. Thank you for demonstrating that.
I’m disappointed that the water feature isn’t on yet, as water sounds I just feel are very important to the feel of Disneyland, but it looks fine, and will look better when the gardens grow in. I’m sure it’ll be fine and the things I dislike about it will fade over time once some aging happens, but it’s a new feel. I like the que, though. That is going to be a joy to go through.
So happy to see all this, but imagineers missed a great opportunity to add Dr. Facilier’s tombstone between the Mansion gift shop and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure.
Thanks for the update. Magnolia Park looks so inviting. I remember years ago being in that extended queue for Haunted Mansion. I'm glad they tried to keep what they could by moving the fountain inside the walls of the HM and the trees that they kept outside in the garden. Those walls that came down by Madame Leota's shop had the script of what she says when riding the HM. I'm glad I got pictures of them while I was there at the end of October. Also, so glad that New Orleans Station is now usable again.
I'm reached the point in my Disney fan lifespan that refurbishments and refreshes make me excited and this doesn't disappoint. I feel like they respected how historically meaningful the Haunted Mansion and New Orleans Square are to Disneyland and it shows. I'm glad they took their time because the queue looks high quality and very detailed from what we can see now, and the changes to the former gardens were done tactfully. I think this was a success similar to the success that the Adventureland Treehouse was. It makes me happy that they're keeping up the detail and charm with these changes.
I love the new garden and queue so far! As beautiful as Magnolia Park was, I honestly wasn’t its biggest fan. By day it was mostly gridlocked and at night it was nearly pitch black and extremely unpleasant to navigate. It’s a rare moment where the final product looks far better than the concept art. The new arrangement of Grim Grinning Ghosts is genuinely excellent. I hope the source audio goes public!
Omg I had the honor to meet you on when you where recording this vedio and take a picture with you, it literally made my whole day. Thank you so much ❤
David, one of the things about good design is when there is an area or part of the art that the guest OR the person's eye could rest. Not everything has to have a purpose to push numbers or to fill up with something. I am surprised you aren't invited to ALL the events from Disney. Who do we call to complain? LOL You rock!!!!!
When you're there on the same day as Fresh Baked and don't get to see the legend and yell FRESHHH BAKED! 😭 Used all your ride queue tips and tricks and finished EVERY major attraction by 1:30pm without even rope dropping. Thank you for all you do!! GET THIS MAN A MEDIA PASS!
As someone that used to live in New Orleans, the whole area from New Orleans square to TBA feels like Louisiana now, from the city to the bayou. I can smell the beignets and king cakes, you just need a hurricane from Pat O’s and it will feel like home, although they should cover those trees in plastic beads for Mardi Gras to make it really authentic.
It is so beautiful. I am so excited the trains open at New Orleans. I’m so excited they stuck with the artwork. I’m so excited there’s open path to actually walk. I’m excited that it looks so good and the crow is so cute. Great job Dave. You’re the man you don’t need no stinking media pass you do it all on your own so much better you are their media that counts💕
I love how open it is, the fountain was beautiful sure but even I’m sure a busy day it looks nice and open. Love that. Also love the new HM arrangement excited to hear it in person!
I am so excited, the new que just makes HM looks so much better. The New New Orleans Square is absolutely gorgeous 😍. I'm excited about all the Christmas decor. We have 1 month until we head to Anaheim.
I have to disagree STRONGLY with your views on the Court of Angels. It was absolutely NOT a useless space. For DECADES, it was an extremely popular scenic, rest, special occasion and photo spot of GENERAL ADMISSION guests/park patrons. And anyone most certainly could bring a snack into the courtyard while enjoying the space's beauty and tranquility. Families would take their reunion pictures there, year after year. New grads were often photographed there. Couples loved to photograph first dates and commemorate anniversaries in the court's lovely, romantic setting. And I can't even begin to guess how many proposals took place at the base of those gorgeous stairs whose steps were always lined with colorful, flowering potted plants. It was a very sad day for many when Disneyland thoughtlessly locked out generations of long-time park visitors and regulars in preference to high-paying Club 33 members. And to add insult to injury, Disney blocked out the view inside the courtyard with those cheesy gates. We all knew then which turn the park was taking. It was one of the aesthetically worst times in Disneyland remodel history.
I agree with your notes about CoA, its loss is one of the most profound in Disney theme park history. But I think he's referring to the formal functions/activities of the park such as rides, shows, dining, retail. In fact, there's a beautiful tribute video by FreshBaked of Court of Angels that's worth watching from years ago, I don't think the value is lost on him.
They are doing a magnificent job in that part of the park. Give it a couple of rainy winters and with the trees growing & filling out along with the new plantings, it will be spectacular. Betcha the night-time atmosphere will be great...just wait till the next Halloween season.
So far this is all a joy to behold! The Victorian Orchestral GGG Haunted Mansion Queue Music is astounding! Perhaps, even, the best part of the whole experience so far! And there's Crow caws and other "sounds of the HM grounds" noises too (squeal's quietly with delight)! If / when they turn the tiny dragon fountain on it will make just enough running water sound to add that little bit of tranquility to Magnolia Park that it so needs! All in all everything is beautiful! Especially adore the view up the side of Tiana's along side Liotta's Store! The waterfall and everything is lush and so calming! YAY!
Magnolia Park looks great. I agree that some benches or small tables and chairs would be nice. I wish the fountain’s water element was a bit more substantial though. The Haunted Mansion gift shop looks proportionally too large for its location. Its large footprint with its tall roofline blocks the view to the water fall and wheel and Tiana’s in general. Also the rides exit into the shop’s portico that you have been concerned about does look a bit tight and awkward.
Magnolia Park and the HM queue look outstanding. Bravo to Disney. The Haunted Mansion gift shop is underwhelming, and the reasons are fairly obvious. I recognize that Disney is likely following the original mandate by Walt that they will "take care of the outside of the Haunted Mansion and allow the ghosts to do whatever inside" (not exact words). But that was in the 1960s and a lot has changed in the theme park industry as far as expectations and competition. Arguably, this approach may not work as well for guests now. Comparing the new HM gift shop to the queue structure for Jungle Cruise, for example, and you wouldn't know they were done by the same company at the same park (Jungle Cruise structure being 5x in terms of theming, evocativeness, and frankly passing the "is seeing this worth $200+ admission" test). I understand the HM gift shop couldn't be "weathered" based on the HM mandate. But it therefore should have been given more architectural and landscape character such as fieldstone foundation, cupola, stained glass windows on the front, tall grass growing along the building perimeter, and ivy growing on the enormously-visible roof to blend from HM to Tiana aesthetics-wise. Unfortunately, it really does look like a Home Depot shed or one of the "portables" classrooms they bring in to a school when there's too many students. Hopefully they bring in a lot of props as in the rendering to help. When they replace the paving out front some day they need carriage ruts going in/out of the doors. And minor point, I don't love the recessed lights visible in the soffit, ruins the historic vibe, seems '60s-'70s-ish. I'd prefer they conceal these kinds of lights better, which is entirely possible with some creative placement and thematic obstruction.

It's beautiful, but I would appreciate a fountain near the Mansion and (still salty) the French Market. I've decided that until the day I'm put into the ground, Tianna's Palace will always be, to me, the French Market. I love that restaurant. I worked there, and I still love the feel and look of the old French Market, and, as a family, we always stopped at the French Market at some point in any day we spent at Disneyland. The new queue for the Mansion was absolutely necessary. A bald set of brass chains and being blasted by a Southern California summer sun, doesn't put a guest into the mood for a haunted mansion. I realized this during the only trip to Florida, thanks to my father, who took me to Disneyworld and EPCOT before he died. Dammit, now I'm crying again. I'm so glad Anaheim took the time to make the Mansion queue as lovely as that at the other parks. I'm also very sad that I can never spend a day at Disneyland with my parents again. Okay, IMO, the worst is true. They have turned the French Market stage around, to face the Mansion queue. I'm not happy. I spent SO MANY nights with guests enjoying Teddy Buchner and the Jazz Allstars, Kathy Griggs, the Royal Street Bachelors, The Side Street Strutters, and The Rusty Stiers Band. Back then, the French Market Stage was an elevator, bringing the various bands' sets up from underground. Rusty and I dated the same girl, who worked at the French Market. HI CINDY! He'll know who I am. We had some minor light banter about it with each other. Let's put it like this: The French Market Stage is there to entertain the guests attending the best eating establishment in the New Orleans Bear Country area. The Blue Bayou, which had NO ENTERTAINMENT other than watching boats from Pirates of the Caribbean float by, which isn't music, was simply, to me, a gimmick. I am, however, happy that they have managed to open up that choked area in the triangle of the French Market, the Haunted Mansion and the New Orleans train station, and it still looks nice. When I worked there, that area was one of my favorite places, but it was always crowded. Now it looks as if they fixed it. The only way to tell is to visit it myself, and at my age, that might never happen. Looking at the Haunted Mansion Gift Shop, it doesn't look like the paint shop has been at it yet. It look new, and that isn't within theme. Give it a bit. It will look like a bayou building before it's open.
Love the new look outside HM. And the music! I can’t wait to see all the changes next September- just be vibing and drinking in the sights and sounds. My ultimate happy place ❤️ Thank you David for your dedication and enthusiasm- makes me happy to watch your vlogs 👍
37:03 I'm almost positive that's Imagineer Senior Creative Producer of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Charita Carter, giving you a "Woooo!" to your "10/10 - No notes" review!
It seems like Disney is missing an opportunity here. They've created all of these new characters for Tiana's Bayou Adventure but nobody knows who they are. I think the ride might resonate a lot more with guests (especially kids) if there was a follow up movie or Disney+ animated series that focused on the further adventures of Tiana, Louis, and all the rest. In fact I'd be quite surprised if there wasn't something like that planned. There's only so much personality and story you can get across with a ride and they'd sell a lot more plush and other merch if people knew and loved the new characters. It's not like Disney to leave money on the table like that. I also agree that you should definitely be on the list for media events.
29:39 This saltmine takes place in New Orleans and Louisiana fully and as all green while the one in DW is the Saltmine that takes place connecting the end of Lousiana to the red rock Idaho part of land that's why there's still red rocks in DWs Saltmine
Getting ready to go in a month, been about 2 1/2 years since last visit, and its like a whole new park. I cant believe how people say Disney is not doing anything. Off the top of my head in 2 1/2 years I am going to see for the first time, New Toon town and Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway, New tree house, more functional Indiana Jones? Tiana's Palace, updated from there all the way to Galaxies edge (HM queue, Tiana's Bayou, Hungry Bear Jamboree). More functioning Space Mountain. Refurbed Mark Twain and Railroad updated tracks and audio queues threw new areas. And a handful of other things. Really the only place that hasnt changed much in 2 years in Tomorrowland.
Oh interesting! The rear Mansion music is so cool. Definitely Mansion vs Nightmare. The arrangement is very interesting. The new line system is confusing, but can't wait to see the end result and see how it works!
yea its definetely gonna hit capacity especially during the holidays i wonder what they will do if it overflows because it seems like it has less capacity now than it did with magnolia gardens as the extended queue
One thing the New Orleans courtyard offered was a designated Service Dog relief area close to the railroad station so it was an out of the way place for the animals to do their business.
The fish fountain wall is a bit fussy, no? Otherwise looks great! Now all Disney has to do is drain the Rivers of America and put in Pandora or Toy Story Land 😕
14:03 I never knew the name of this area, but I have one memory of being taken around New Orlean Square by the mime, even through what felt like back entrances. We went through this area and many more ❤
The court yard looks great! It gives the same feeling as the old one, from what I remember of it which honestly wasn't much, but a much more open feeling. Love that they kept the trees! The vines and leaves on the lamp posts! They should put at least a few table and chairs in that center area and near the Mansion wall. Wasn't the purpose to add seating?
This may not be the first comment but it does look like they did not bring the service dog relief area back. And yes there could be more places to sit. The train, monorail, nemo, pirates, and small world are the park benches haha.
It is wild to me that you aren't on the media list for Disneyland events

Those wall fountains have plants in them. They could easily be turned into fountains. 3:22
Ahaha the fresh baked callout from hungry bear.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure the wettest ride in the Bayou!😅
THANK'S FOR THE UPDATE DISNEYLAND PARK
Hope the add a few benches in the courtyard. Looks like a great place to chill
Wow! This is a huge improvement. It is beautiful ❤
Love the new look outside HM. And the music! I can’t wait to see all the changes next September- just be vibing and drinking in the sights and sounds. My ultimate happy place ❤️ Thank you David for your dedication and enthusiasm- makes me happy to watch your vlogs 👍
How on earth do they move such large trees without shocking the roots? I'm surprised at how much they can move without killing these mature trees.
I will be there in February and cannot wait to see all the new.
I think the new courtyard looks nice, but it looks like there is a lot less shade. There are parts that look like they'll be in full sun all day.
37:03 I'm almost positive that's Imagineer Senior Creative Producer of Tiana's Bayou Adventure, Charita Carter, giving you a "Woooo!" to your "10/10 - No notes" review!
Going to Disneyland later today! So excited.
The new courtyard is beautiful!
New Orleans square train station is reopened yesterday
You mean the train station that we see open and operational in this video that was filmed yesterday?
Yes, we can see that.
Yay Lauri-Jean! It's fantastic!
It looks amazing! I love how open the space feels now in at area.
Can't wait until we see in person!! 2 week Countdown ❤❤
Can’t wait to ride the train in a few weeks. Just noticed the seating was different on the two trains, interesting how one faces into the park.
They mostly face into the park. Only the "Excursion Train" has forward facing seats! Well spotted!
WOW! That new gift shop surprisingly fits 🤯
Wasn't sure what I was expecting with the new Haunted Mansion queue. However, from what I see it looks fantastic!
Will be funny when you see this new space also being used for additional queue space.
Shoosh! I was gonna say the same thing! Hahahahaah! Well spotted!
yea its definetely gonna hit capacity especially during the holidays i wonder what they will do if it overflows because it seems like it has less capacity now than it did with magnolia gardens as the extended queue
One thing the New Orleans courtyard offered was a designated Service Dog relief area close to the railroad station so it was an out of the way place for the animals to do their business.
I hate they removed one of the best places to sit, cause sitting around the fountain was always nice and relaxing.
The firefly sits on your shoulder and interacts with other fireflies
The fish fountain wall is a bit fussy, no? Otherwise looks great! Now all Disney has to do is drain the Rivers of America and put in Pandora or Toy Story Land 😕
14:03 I never knew the name of this area, but I have one memory of being taken around New Orlean Square by the mime, even through what felt like back entrances. We went through this area and many more ❤
Wish they would get busy with tomorrowland.
So much reminding me of the gardens area of Winchester Mystery House in the new queue from when I worked there invokes a lot of the same vibe.
Juju sleeping near Mama Odie's spot at the Critter Club ❤ It looks great!
I love New Orleans Square and New Hm Queue
It’s pretty fond of you, too.
@@WindowtotheMagic True!
28:06 is that Charita Carter, the Imagineer for Tiana’s???
I thought that was her too. Also at 37:04. She was the one who shouted “woo” when he said “10 out of 10.” 😅
I came to the comments just to see if anyone else besides me noticed.
Yes. It absolutely was. That was so cool.
Hey Fresh Baked!!
It'd gonna end up being a stroller parking lot with all that space I'm sure.
This may not be the first comment but it does look like they did not bring the service dog relief area back. And yes there could be more places to sit. The train, monorail, nemo, pirates, and small world are the park benches haha.
I hope the back part of the HM queue is a greenhouse with fans and silk plants. I dig the greenhouse quque at Hogwarts.
