My parents were willing to live under those conditions for a total of 3 years to further my dad's career! Makes my moving to Atlanta for my career opportunities seem like a walk in the park in comparison; a warm, green, and sunny park with a comfortable summer breeze.
Most of rural Alaska is in the $5-$6 range for gas. But that's more steep than the norm. Oil workers probably work there, plus Native Alaskans get dividends from timber and other sales on the tremendous amount of land they own (as a sovereign entity they're not bound by Federal or state laws regarding timber etc, and can clear cut their land in the heavily forested areas).
Nice series. I definitely could not do the lack of sunshine. This reminds me of in-laws in upper Canada - it's so remote and away from everything. I could never do that. Adam, one thing is you will appreciate the sunshine and humidity of Florida when you get back. :) Safe Travels.

When you "plug vehicles in" in the colder sections of the world, you are actually plugging in a heater thats attached to the motor or the oil pan, so that the oild in the car doesn't get completely frozen solid and will start in the colder temps. Adam, being from Florida, and living in the warmer climates most his life, wouldnt have any idea about this kind of thing.

My parents were willing to live under those conditions for a total of 3 years to further my dad's career! Makes my moving to Atlanta for my career opportunities seem like a walk in the park in comparison; a warm, green, and sunny park with a comfortable summer breeze.
2:00 those plug-ins are for block heaters. Just heats the metal on the engine to keep the oil fluid.
$6.90 a gallon is crazy! Jobs there must pay really good.
My son worked on the North Slope oil fields for 11 years. Two weeks on, two weeks off. It was a great experience, cold dark winters and summers where the mosquitoes stalked you like a starving vampire
Omg that's funny you watched 30 Days of Night, I was thinking about it while watching your videos. Love that movie lol I just want to thank you for making these videos. It's helped me get out of my rut. Nothing but love for you bro.
Ive been watching you for years, this is my favorite series. Thanks for taking us along!
The electric plugs for the cars are for the block heaters. It warms the oil pan to make starting the car easier
Enjoying these Alaska videos. Looks like you are loving it. ❤
From this day forward I’m just gonna assume that Adam is a vampire now bc nobody gets out of that town alive.
The snow crunching with each of his steps just gives me cold shivers - ugh
Being from Florida we have no clue what those plugs are for. We are more use to starting the car and letting the AC run so the inside goes from 320 degrees to 120.
You need to go back in June to compare the town.
I won’t be going back
@@TheDailyWoo😂😂
@@TheDailyWooyou should definitely come back in the summer. Alaska is called the great land for a reason lol and it’s so much better, different place all summer. Super glad you came to visit Alaska. Hope you had a good time. Safe travels
@@TheDailyWoo definitely looks like a once in a lifetime type place. Heavy emphasis on the ONCE haha. Thanks for taking us along though, I first remember hearing about this place on the old show Ice Road Truckers.
This has been great so far! Thx for being so brave out there & sharing!!
I've wanted to visit this place for like, 20 years. Awesome!
Well hello Adam the woo it's amazing to see you today always amazing video 😊
When you "plug vehicles in" in the colder sections of the world, you are actually plugging in a heater thats attached to the motor or the oil pan, so that the oild in the car doesn't get completely frozen solid and will start in the colder temps. Adam, being from Florida, and living in the warmer climates most his life, wouldnt have any idea about this kind of thing.
I have that same coat. Love it. Very affordable and definitely keeps me warm! Great choice!
Love the videos and welcome. Utqiagvik is pronounced OOt-kee-AH-Vik. It’s the traditional Inupiaq name of the city.
It’s alot of fun watching your visit here. I always wonder what it’s like for someone to visit Alaska for the first time. If you search Alaska aurora forecast, you will have a good idea when and where there may be activity. Looks like there will be higher activity on the 20th of you are still around and in areas with little city lights and clear sky. Hope you enjoy your stay
Hi Adam. I feel ya about not being able to see the Aurora Borialis. I visited my daughter and her family for 6 WEEKS in Fairbanks, never once saw it. I Treasure the opportunity to go to Alaska, I will remember it always. But that was one disappointment was not seeing the Aurora. Thank you so much for this series. I love it!!
I love the crunch of boots smashing through the snow.
Thank you Adam for going to a place that myself and most will never be able to visit even watching channels like national geographic discovery ch. Etc we do not get that on the ground in-depth experience that you have brought us.
Thanks Adam that was pretty cool. Now you understand why people were buying eggs and toilet paper to bring home with them from Anchorage. You didn't do your almost daily Appropriate Attire. We all knew if you had a jacket on that WAS appropriate
attire.😉😂😂 I would think if you live there
you have friends or family. And they would visit each others houses. Play cards have movie nights or just hang out. Just like we do in the lower 48. Oh I did mean to ask what was the brand of outerwear you had?
Such a great idea getting the face cover.👍🏼
Glad you warmed up to 25°F.👍🏼😂❄❄❄
I’m amazed how light you travel. Have you ever done a video on what you pack and how often you have to do laundry on your trips?
