Man, they always look like they are having an absolute riot. It's obvious Vulfpeck is a friendship thing as much as a band.
Probably helps that they play shows so few and far between. Keeps it special.
You gotta be. Look at bands where member hate each other. Yeah they still get up there and play but there is no infectious joy. In a dynamic like theseguys, you feel the same joy they exhibit. And the muic is just so much better when it's real and organic.

My boyfriend passed in August 2021 and I was floored in person when yall played almost all of his favorites back to back. His phone passcode literally was 1612 lmao. Theo was absolutely on fire on Back Pocket! And yes the whole band just keeps getting better
After 01:03:30 Theo scatting, running back to the drums, not missing a beat on the floor tom and adjusting the snare stand while sitting back to play - that's the synthesis of the Vulfpeck musical spirit: extremely skilled, timing like clockwork, having tons on fun with musical exploration and then coming back to a SOLID groove

I agree. I'm and old fart who never heard of them before I saw this vid. Love all that I've seen but for God's sake can't the find an ear monitor that fits the lead singer. Watching him constantly play with it is annoying and distracting.

Unforgettable day! Being in the crowd and catching both Kendrick and Vulfpeck feels more like a dream than reality.
These were both sets I wanted to catch, but fell into a bad mindset and went back to camp to sleep after Portugal, the Man.

Went to Bonnaroo to see plenty of bands, Vulfpeck wasn't even near the top of my list and ended up putting on my favorite set of the week. These guys absolutely blew me away.
Same! I only knew a few songs and that was only because multiple people who's music taste I trust told me how much of a can't miss their set was going to be but even being told multiple times did not prepare me for what we witnessed.

Congrats to my homie Antwan Stanley. I use to perform with him when we we’re much younger
I feel like all Vulfpeck concert are structured to feature Joe as the 'main' character. In the beginning they only 'show his potential', and it builds during the concert up to his frenzy in Beastly which is then contained to perfection for the finale. After all, he's the only one who does not stop playing for even a minute. Amazing.
It's a conscious choice fo sho, and smart marketing by Jack (on brand lol).
They all monsters but the rhythm section of a funk band is always the backbone and Joe is the definitive 'back pocket' of groove at all times.

Really cool how most songs feel 5-10 bpm faster than the album versions definitely adds a certain vulf energy

So I was here for this in person and they saved me lol I took some mushrooms and the trip was going south. Kendrick Lamar was playing the stage next to them and he’s great but wow that was intense due to my fungi friends. However as vulfpeck took the stage everything changed! Thanks vulfpeck for truly the best live performance I have ever seen! I’ll never forget it!
This band has long been the poster group for effortless (-seeming) professionalism. Watching Antwaun struggle with his in-ear monitors for two whole songs while singing his heart out like he does… amazing!
Such an amazing set. I was in the crowd and actually played a set with the stews on the who stage earlier in the day… when y’all married the couple on stage I honestly forgot I was even at a festival… unforgettable!
That was just about the sweetest thing I ever saw onstage. And Theo as MC.
I was hoping Sufjan Stevens or Brian Eno would show up and form a Choir. One day. Who knows?

@@robertforgaci9427 yeah that was an epic moment, but that whole set was memorable as fuck. They played the flecktones version of stomping ground and Sierra fucking Hull came out to play mandolin. She didn’t sing but I was ecstatic getting to hear her play. Also, shirtless Theo doing give it away, sledgehammer, and Holy hell HANSON jamming around I want you back. Bonnaroo superjams are always legendary but that show was next level. I vote they do whatever they can to get Cory Wong to host the superjam every year.

The whole tent singing sledgehammer, then shirtless Theo coming out to absolutely kill give it away, and Hanson doing I want you back. Also apparently tal wilkenfeld was on that stage? I play bass and am a huge fan of hers but I was so high and mind blown by everything else going on that I didn’t even see her. What the fuck dude I’ve seem hundreds of amazing top tier shows but now I will always be comparing every live show I see for the rest of my life to the Cory Wong Superjam. Happy Roo everybody and I look forward to seeing you all on the farm next year.

Funk obviously lends itself to fun music but I think what’s fun is we can see these incredible musicians just having fun playing with each other in a free and open concept, since they apparently never rehears for shows and such, it has such jam vibes plus they’re all fun characters, all around a great mix

I’ve been listening to vulfpeck for 7-8 years now, but this video is my first time seeing them perform in at least 3 years, GODDAMN it feels like they’re in their prime right now. This is the best live show I’ve seen in UA-cam all year. It feels so weird that years ago I was buying the “zzz” record so they could tour for free, and now they’re selling out msg and drawing huge crowds at bonnaroo. I only found them in the first place bc I have a speech impediment so a friend sent me stuff about antwuan going from speech therapist to vulf❤️❤️❤️

One of the best concerts I've been to. It was 2017 and my daughter and I took a road trip from Utah to Denver to see them at the Ogden theater the night before their big show at Red Rocks. The venue held maybe 1200 and we were at the stage. It was so much fun. Daughter got the set list and got it signed by Joey and I think Antaun.

I live in TN near Gatlinburg and have even made work trips out to Manchester. I had no idea Vulf was doing a major concert there, or I would've tried to go. Don't think I would have been able to regardless but I feel like this was a major missed opportunity now :(
As someone who was there, it was absolutely incredible. The fest is expensive but totally worth it
@@generalkenobi6869 yeah I was saving up but international travel is expensive man. At the end my friends wanted to go to a different festival in Colombia, since only I was a Vulf fan and it made more economic and travel sense given that we are Costa Rican
@@generalkenobi6869relative to the talent we gotta see for the 4 day ticket it was absolutely worth it. For example I saw a full Tyler Childers set and it would’ve been 300 bucks to get the same thing in my city.

Prior to Bonnaroo, the only song of Vulfpeck's I'd ever heard was "Back Pocket," but I loved it so much I wanted to check them out and BOY HOWDY, DID I DISCOVER SOMETHING! This band is INSANE. I freakin' love this group. They're such a fun time!
