Cardio and Strength Workout with Weights for Beginners & Seniors

- Cardio and strength full body toning workout for seniors and beginners
We start with a quick warm up then complete 2 rounds of 10 full body exercises. The 2nd time the exercises are completed at a slower pace using the hand weights or dumbbells. This video is great for cardio and strength training benefits. In this format, you get comfortable with the moves first before adding the extra challenge of the dumbbells.
I’m using 3 pound hand weights in this video, I recommend staying below 5 pounds and of course it may be completed using no weights at all.
This 24 minute class is all done in a standing position and includes a few stretching exercises at the end.
As always, please go at your own pace. It’s more important to have good form, completing the exercises properly than to rush through it.

Today is Valentine’s Day and the second time I have done this workout when I am short on time. Whew, it works my body and gets that heart pumping. The Epitome of shorter is not necessarily easier. Gosh, that was a workout even with light weights! I had taken a couple of weeks off for family so am feeling it all even thought I go to the gym a couple of times a week. This is so good and you are such a wonderful facilitator. The time flies!! Thanks again for a super workout videi!!

I just love this workout! For anyone who's looking for a workout that includes cardio and weights in a relaxed but very effective format, this is the one for you! Your production qualities are also really high, and I appreciate that so much, e.g. your backdrop is lovely and relaxing, you fill up the whole frame so it's easy to see the movements, etc. And it's the perfect length for me. Lauren, I have really enjoyed your videos. I'm 54 and in good shape but I've suffered some shoulder and low back pain/injuries over the past year or so, but I had 2 levels of my cervical spine fused when I was in my 30s. I had to stop my strength training in 2021 and focus solely on PT to rehab these areas. My Dexa scan just came back reflecting osteopenia which was further motivation for me to get back to resistance training - I want to avoid future spine surgeries! I sought out training for age 50+ because the 20-30-year-old channels are way to aggressive for me and it's not worth risking more injuries. Your videos are just perfect for me! You do an amazing job - I love your guidance and presentation. You provide a good challenge and allow people to tailor the workout to their level and facilitate building their strength and conditioning. Please keep your videos coming - it's nice to have a variety of workouts!🙂

That’s amazing. How doing that work out my hip hurts so bad before I started and then now wow what a release it gave me❣️I’m so grateful better than Physical Therapy but I do appreciate that too. Nice workout, Lauren! I see myself getting a bit stronger, improving coordination and some balance improvement too; not so much 'wandering' from side to side when walking. This makes me feel better psychologically about my physical abilities with day-to-day activities. Gratefully, Veronica

Lauren, I don’t remember ever doing this workout in the past but I must say it was a great workout! I especially liked that you introduced the moves we would be doing with the weights as it allowed me to focus on the movements and was very comfortable with the movements once we repeated them with the weights! Loved it!❤❤❤

The posture checks are great. Love how it’s great for OA bodies, gentle on the joints, & you always have modifications if needed & easy explanations. You go at a great pace, getting juice in the joints. The positive motivations are fantastic & helpful. Your routines are easy & fun to follow. I appreciate that what you're doing IS a workout for you, too. You're clearly a fit person with an phenomenal range of fitness abilities and expertise. Yet while you're leading us through our paces, the exercises appear to be working YOUR muscles, heart and lungs, too. Certainly not to "maximum" but you're experiencing a workout.
