- PIKE OF BLISCO SUMMIT CAMP 709m
A night in the Langdale Pikes camping on a cliff edge after exploring a Neolithic axe factory. 5800-6200 years ago people mined green stone high up in the Langdale mountains and shaped it by ‘knapping’ in to axe heads to be used as an important tool. These axe heads have been found in Scotland and south England showing they were a worthy tool of their time being carried/traded and used. Pretty damn amazing!

Thank you for helping us up and back down the Pike. We couldn’t have made it without you and you’ll never know how much it meant to us x
Ellie! I’m so glad you watched. It was such a pleasure meeting you all and I’m glad it was a perfect day. The hard effort was worth it although I’m sure you felt your legs in the morning. You might get a taste for some hikes 😬. Love to you and all the family.
@@BUSHMANandBLUE I felt my legs for about 5 days after! I think I’ll go with a smaller hike next time although watching your video has inspired me to be up high and see all the world again x
❤❤
❤❤
❤
Blue is back 🎉
Blue is such a good dog. Being a border collie he would naturally want to herd those sheep but he listens to Daddy and won’t do anything without permission. :-) love it ❤
Great views, wife and I lunched on a tin of corned beef up there 48 years ago this week on our honeymoon!
Wow that’s lovely 🥰
What a beautiful thing you did. The family will remember that day forever.
It was a lovely day and lovely meeting lovely people… Lovely😬
That was a remarkable act of kindness. This world is a better place for people like you
This episode feels like it is all about life.
Life once upon a time,
life that once was, and
life that is and is here to be enjoyed.
Legend! A true kind hearted gentleman 💙
Great video as always 👊
Just a normal man that is happy to help others.
That was so very kind of you to help that family, moved me to tears. God bless you Al. 🙏
I recently spoke to someone about that night and I was nearly in tears too🥲
Up there with the best video's Alan. A truly remarkable thing you did for the family, right place right time springs to mind. A true gentleman. 👍
Blue is so smart..he knows exactly what to do..I bit most my nails off watching..lol..scenery was so beautiful..thanks for bringing us along!!!
What amazes me on all your videos is how you get through mountains, fields, rivers and valleys under sunny skies or polar storms; all without losing your way, the trail. It is a mystery to be. I will not find my way back.
Always a great pleasure to see you and Blue in action! The scenery, how Blue listens to you, how you enjoy life and help others in the process! Wow!! : )
😊 thanks. It’s a short life and we all can be kinder.
That's a really lovely film. I'm sure that family were right, you were destined to be there just at the right time! I enjoyed the story of the axe factory as well. And the drone shots were stunning, capturing the geology of the mountains so well!
You're top notch. Always having concern and going out of your way to help fellow hikers in all weather and terrain.
Well if it’s no effort to help people in life and make even just a small difference then you should👊
Another wonderful vlog with your beautiful dog. Thank you Al, you never disappoint us.
😊 thanks
And the best outdoor hair award goes to….. fantastic video, perfect views, perfect editing. Came to look at the tent, stayed for the great vibes.
😂. Always positive vibes mate as I don’t know any other way👊
You and Blue such fun to watch and how he obeys all your commands!!! Love everyone of your videos!!!
Thanks. He’s such a good dog and the best companion in the fells😬
Nice one Al. I was a bit worried after watching the last video of you and Blue parked up on the side of the road opposite Blea Tarn. Realise things didn't go to plan from the off on that one where no band turned up at the Old Dungeon Inn, ended up being a little drab! Back with a bang with this one though!! Excellent footage and commentary and great to see the Pikes again. Good on you pal for helping that family out too. You've got what it takes when most other people would have carried on their merry way. All the best to you and Blue. Cheers, Ozzy.
Thanks bud. It was a lovely day out with a bit of everything. I thoroughly enjoyed it😬
Al, thank you for all that you do to inspire and help others! You are a positive force in the world!
Thank you so much. It’s messages like this that give me purpose and reason to carry on making these videos. 👊
I love the story of the encounter with the family from the US - very moving. Also really love the drone photography and that last glimpse of Blue walking backwards up the hill!
Great to see you and blue again, love your adventures, your site brings me many memories of kedwick and surrounding areas from my early life,I was brought up in keswick, untill i eas 13 years old, never lost my love for the place
❤.,,.#
Another great video, Al. Loved the pre-historic axe factory AND thank you for helping my fellow countrymen(and women) up the pitch…
What a genuinely nice bloke you are ..love watching your vids but you've just taken yourself to the next level in helping that family up to the summit ..❤
I’m a huge history fan, I subscribed to ‘History Hit’ app and listen to several history podcasts. All the ancient history in the places we go, it’s mind blowing getting to know details and how old. I was in Egypt and saw the brushstrokes and even loose brush hair on a tomb painting, and I knew that the person painting it, probably moaned about the hairs coming out the cheap brushes, just like I do 😂
That’s a lovely story about dad wanting to be laid to rest at the Pike of Stickle 😎
Interesting. I never get chance to listen to podcasts. I might have to start.
Great video, Al, with a word of caution for those with dogs, and of course, a poignant moment on the subject of life and mortality, and an unfettered kindness. It costs nothing, but rewards greatly for all touched by it. I'm thinking I'd like my ashes scattered atop of Pendle Hill. It was my back yard when I was a nipper back in the 60's.
Great spot on Pendle. My dad was brought up there in the 40’s and 50’s. He still does the fell race now😉
ANGELS everywhere ❤ we just need to let them help 😊 Your family and friends are proud of you 👍
😊 thanks.
What a cracking hike and camp, brilliantly put together, felt like I was enjoying it with you! Your dog is so well trained, what great company for you. Thanks for sharing, you have a new subscriber 👍
Welcome Paul👊
Love your history lessons. It's fascinating to look at that amazing scenery and wonder how it must have looked thousands of years ago.
Hi Al , you know the old saying
'Hard times create hard men , hard men create good times , good times create weak men' i think we know where we are currently .
Nice to see you out with Blue again , in a stunning part of The Lakes .
Always wondered where exactly that cave was , now i know .
ATB Neil .
Cheers Neil. Very true. You’ll be walking to the cave soon I’m sure👍
Alan your a great bloke and blue a great fur baby, you always put a smile on my face and aye ya pot of gold is awesome
You're a legend Al, a properly decent bloke! Love watching this adventure as always, give Blue a hug xx
Wow, Blue is so obedient - good boy to him and well done on training him
Shout out to Great Uncle John x1000!
😂😂😂 yep
I'm a day late, was in Munich yesterday watching Springsteen. I nearly got a panic attack climbing eighty steep steps up to our seats and didn't feel much better sitting and looking down.
But I was looking forward to seeing your video, which is once again breathtakingly spectacular. Awesome!
Thank you so much for taking us along.
And by the way, you are one amazing human being.
Alan great video lovely seeing blue x
A very moving film Allen. Love the comment from Ellie. The axe cave was amazing ,how the heck did those people 'find' that resource? Top tune with the excellent drone film, it felt very fitting. The Langdales are special. 🐐 🐶 ❤
Yes I’m so glad Ellie watched. She dug deep to get up to the summit so total respect to her👍👊👍
What a grand video! Absolutely loved it and to see you back out with blue on one of your usual adventures is great! Good gear descriptions and good conversation with amazing views is just the sort of stuff a quality wild camp is all about... additionally making memories is so important as we will all cherish them as time goes on... watching this video reminds me off all the wild camps i have done and how i have so much more opportunity still to come * especially as it's the start of the summer holidays! 🎉 So as usual i will say a big thanks to you and your videos and hope to see you out again, thanks - Dan
Thanks Dan. I liked the video because it had a bit of everything and was quite humbling.
Outstanding Al lad, definitely one of your very best. Been in that area many times in the past, not for a while now though. This brought back a lot of memories, thanks lad. Blue is the most superb dog and a credit to your input into his life. He would not rather be anywhere than with you.
Thanks mate. Actually Blue would leave me for dead if he had chance to play fetch with someone 😂
A wonderful video, Al. Lovely comments from Ellie. We’re in the Langdales in October & can’t wait ❤😊
Love that dog! And love how you take care of each other.
Fantastic and good on yer doing something good for someone else can get you emotional and that is a wonderful feeling if only there was more around this world would be so much better ❤
Cheers Mark. I think we all can put more effort in to helping others especially when it’s no effort for ourselves 👍
Ashes story brought a tear to my eye 😢 can you talk about cars or something from now on 😂
😂😂😂
Great watch 😊 the views were great and the summit drone footage and music was perfect. Brave heading down to the cave but was really interesting to see. Shame the cloud was in on the morning but looked a great camp 😊
Thanks Yaz. It was really interesting and blows the mind really😬
Hi Al, Just a quick note to say how much we enjoyed your latest video. We are proud of you for the way you showed love and kindness to the Americans who were in such need. Well done sir. We've watched all your vids and yes, this one was up there with the best. Fantastic scenery and good photography. And oh, that dog Blue, well, he has rock star status in our house. Congratulations on all the work you do.
Thanks mate and I’m glad you guys get to enjoy the videos. 😊
What an epic camp with some insane views! Fair play to you and Blue for braving this wonderful British weather! And well done to you for helping the American family fulfil their promise. Had me reaching for the tissues… 🥺 Oh… wait that sounded wrong… you know what I mean… 😅😳 Top man! 🤙🏻
😂 it was lovely and really made me contemplate life👍
It was so wonderful that you helped the family. You are so kind.
Great story 🙏
Great to see both of you out together again 😊
When i was there and i looked down that gully you traversed to the axe factory it looked incredibly steep! And i definitely didn't know that the axe factory was there...
Your best film ever Al. Fact. 🐐 🐶 ❤
🥰🥰 not all dogs are bad, blue is well trained 🥰🥰
A pleasure to watch as always.
Definitely get a gravel bike! I bought my first one 4 years ago and wouldn't have any other type of bike now. Does everything I need and now I have a really nice one with 2 wheel sets...one for purely road and one for everything. Perfect 👍👍
Yes probably the best all round bike. When I can afford one find a bargain and use it for bike packing
Such a beautiful video, Al, in many different ways. The only thing that would make it better is if a couple of million people got to see it (So funny to hear you say that you missed leg day at the gym, because every time you strap on a pack and climb a mountain, you are doing a "leg day" that would completely break a lot of people who actually do go to a gym.)
😂 yes my legs are pretty fit for the hills but we all can be fitter.
Incredible video! And educational! Thanks Al!
Beautiful, as always. Love the drone footage ❤
What a fantastic and touching film , great history and great kindness towards that family, definitely the best film I’ve watched of yours pal, thankyou for sharing and take care 👍
Awwwww thanks😊. I thoroughly enjoyed being out there👍

Thanks Phil! I’m just a normal guy from a tiny village that has excess energy to be kind with it. Why not?!
@BUSHMANandBLUE if you can be anything ....be kind that's a philosophy taught to me by my Dad, amongst other things! Your parents must be very proud of you ! Here's looking forward to your next instalment😁 I would love to do what you do but I know my limitations, I do what I can when I can but you Continue to inspire me to do more so thank-you 🙂
Excellent upload as usual. No shortage of beautiful areas in the Lake District but Great Langdale is right up there as one of my favourites.
Oh yes blue is back love the vidoes mAte keep up the good work
I had a tent similar to that about thirty years ago. Used it when I was winter cycling around Europe and it's the best tent I EVER had. I think it weighed around 2kg, so still light enough, especially on the bike. It stood up well to a ten day thunderstorm on the Iberian peninsula and didn't move an inch in 70mph winds in the Austrian mountains. I only wish I could remember the manufacturer's name. I know they made stuff for Arctic expeditions but that's all I can remember.
Anyway, thanks for the upload, or whatever they are called, and I look forward to watching a few more.
Sounds like a proper adventure mate. Awesome memories I’m sure👊
Great video😊❤️
Wow what amazing views and a beautiful song to go along with it😎❤ u know how to pick some beautiful areas loved every second of it thank you Darren and Mr Fin 👊👍
