Hi, here a German dude heading to Scotland. I was wondering how long take to do the whole trekking? also, could you please let me know what is this thing you have that put your sleeping mattress in a seating position/back support? I love it! and thanks for your videos I found them very interesting. Greetings from Berlin.
I agree, that code you refer to is essential to us soloists. I'm a bikepacker so I'm at risk of a hard fall if I screw up. It's good to know that there are people out there watching your back. Take care, happy trails 🙂✌️
@@TimmyBobinson absolutely, 100%. The environments which we seek are bound to have their pitfalls and hazards. The fact that other bike Packers and backpackers are around is reassuring.
Many years ago I was walking up that exact slope with the well known mountaineer John Grieve, leader of the Glencoe Rescue, when we came on some squaddies doing self-arrest practice under the orders of an officer. The slope was icy and the out-run was dangerous, and we saw a couple of near accidents as the trainees lost control and slid into the rocks at speed. John explained who he was an requested the officer to find a safer spot, but he refused, very arrogantly, and ordered them to continue. This was literally putting their lives at risk. After another refusal, John whipped out his rope and with my help we trussed up the officer hand and foot. John then ordered the squaddies down the hill - which they did, with considerable glee. John took a photo of the officer in this humiliating position, and warned him that if anything happened to the men he'd send it to his commanding officer along with a report detailing his arrogant and irresponsible behaviour. The guy was literally frothing with range and threatening us with all sorts - but he obviously came to his senses because we heard nothing more about it...
😂😂😂 Brilliant! What a story but sometimes that arrogance kills! Those squaddies that died from heat exhaustion training in a heat wave a few years back, their officer needed the same treatment.
Similar thing happened to us, in Wales, but our officer was a good one! He got bollocked for taking the lads down off the mountain, during an exercise. He had only just made ’Captain’, but didn't give a bugger about what HQ wanted, while they were in their heated digs. He made a command decision and stuck to it. REspect!
Funny because when the army did the same thing in Iraq humiliating positions and taking photos lads went to jail 🤣, I’m royal marine and the worse the weather on mountain training the better other wise we would be no different to the army, anyway let’s be real that never happened cool story tho 😊
What a spectacular adventure on which we were allowed to tag along with you today. You have a beautiful soul and your love for fellow man and Mother Earth is certainly the mindset we should all strive to emulate. It’s a beautiful Easter Sunday in the Smoky Mountains of eastern Tennessee and this video made it even more beautiful. Safe travels to you and Blue. Can’t wait for our next adventure.
As much as I love England's scenery, Scotland is just something else. I finally went to Glasgow last October and also went via the West Highland rail line to Fort William and explored some of the natural beauty there, including a walk in the piss rain from Glencoe village to The Three Sisters viewpoint and back. Still jawdropping, despite the grim weather. Also, hats off to you for helping that man.
If even 1 in a 1000 people had your positive attitude, and your absolute commitment to help, the world would be in a much better place. You are an inspiration.
Just subscribed, this is my new must watch channel it's great,I I love the tips and picked up a few from you .iheard your comments on getting outdoors and it makes me so angry with people who don't go out (after seeing my dear sister fight for her life losing her life to cancer unfortunately 😔)I treasure every moment in life outdoors just accomplish something ,and people just sit watching shit on TV every night and do nothing, able bodied people who do nothing ,rant over .I have been up to the lost valley too with two dear friends my hillwalking adventures with my pals will stay with me forever .I now walk the hills alone as old age has prevented them ,but I still go out out when I can . because I can .love your channel and Thank you mate ,you have helped me in so many ways .👍👍
Yes mate so many people miss out on the well-being aspect of being outdoors. It’s a positive life choice that many choose too late in life. As I’ve said before use your body whilst it works 👍👍👍
Excellent viewing. Definitely done the right thing by checking the bloke was alright and helping him down. You never know when you could be the one who's fallen and in need of help 👍🤜👌
Hi Al it’s Adam, we met early on today at Brimham Rocks. Great day out exploring the landscape. Great weather. Was great to bump in to you and have a quick chat. Best wishes all see thee ..👍 adam
Hi, Al. What a glorious video. Fetched back beautiful memories for me. A few years ago I went up through the Lost Valley with Jenny, my late wife, en route to Bidean nam Bian. A stunningly beautiful area captured wonderfully in your video. Take care.
Well I’m sorry to hear of your loss. It’s a lovely place to have nice memories of. I wish I had made it up to the top but helping others comes first. 👍
You were giving it the beans to reach that climber, that's what its all about. An accident can happen to anyone and knowing there are people going to go the extra mile to give help is very good. The (regular) outdoor mountain community are a great bunch of people. Looks a lovely area and one I must visit. Great to have something really good to watch as I'm going somewhat stir-crazy laid up with a right old cold. Many thanks again for the channel Al.
That was amazing. Huge props for ensuring that guy was ok. This looks like the most epic trip. Thought cobbler was beauty but that valley looks mega! 🤘🏻✌🏻
Your the main man Al, could really see just how concerned you was for that poor guy. Another great vid, Scottish mountains look epic, thanks for taking us all along. 👍👌👊
You dug deep helping that poor guy, I love the spirit in which you do things. The drone shots were breath taking! Blue didn’t seem impressed with your lie in 😀
You're like a mountainous Ross Kemp with all the madness that happens around you 🤣 Nah, in all seriousness seeing what you saw but being able to keep your wits about you and go into rescue/help mode deserves huge respect. I'm just glad it ended well for all parties. Blue is clearly to friend you need for that and I'd imagine having him there also kept you focused. Ace video as always Al. Stay safe and well mate Adge.
😂 You definitely go into rescue mode. As I ran over I was planning all scenarios and what I needed to do and thinking of what kit I had to help. Cheers mate👍
I’m glad you mentioned that about the fires. I wouldn’t have thought about it otherwise and I may have unintentionally created another unnecessary fir pit without thinking.
Brutal fall that - the guy was lucky to walk off without serious injury or worse - well done in helping him get back down to lower levels. Top camp out as per. ATB
Truly awesome hike, personality and dog you have there. Proud to see someone extend themselves to care for the welfare of truly happy that fallen hiker was ok. May you be safe and healthy always...

What a place and awesome drone footage, thank you! Massive respect to you for checking that poor chap was ok and guiding him back down. Good to hear you had a chilled camp. Lovely to see Blue again. I love how he rolls around in the grass. He's such a happy dog. One question - how do you sleep 9 hours in a tent? Max for me last week was 4/5 hours 😃🏕
Nicola says my super power is sleeping😂. He is definitely a happy dog and loves being out on these adventures with his role in the pack as the point. 👍
Well the boy did his first wild camp and renamed our dog Blue. There was some great role-playing seen. He played you and tackled some mini-climbs, making sure he had good "hand-holds" Thanks for inspiring him ❤ Fab vid. Watched it tucked up whilst our legs recover!
Top Man !! Absolute respect. Random act of kindness, took some effort but the guy I'm sure was grateful for the support and kindness. Liked how you led him to safety. Great bloke and Blue certainly lifted his moral. Had my own casivac yesterday off Grisedale Pike. Did a wildcamp Saturday night with our lass about half way up. We did Grisedale the next day and the air pressure and wind kicked off her Vertigo/Labyrinthitis (never happened on the hills before. Got us set up in a quick tarp shelter and applied her meds and waited for them to kick in. Very proud of her, hates walking poles and she used mine and step by step she got down. It hasn't put her off but made us think about future locations. ATB and thanks for your efforts Cheers Sel and Tracey (she shouted, put my name on too 🤣)
Wow well done for sorting her out and even more respect for her overcoming the situation. She should be proud and also feel more able to get out there as she knows that even in a situation like that she can overcome it (and it may not happen again). Good effort getting out there👍
You're a good man to hustle up that hill and check on that guy. Total respect. Now it's time to rest and enjoy your time with your pup in the great outdoors.
Absolutely love watching your videos. I find it therapeutic. Also I love camping and would really like to go that step further. Continue what you are doing. Hope you and blue stay safe and thank you. Legend!!
Just found your channel and I am touched by your kindness to others. May you have kindness returned to you 100 foul. Will continue to follow you and watch your other videos as well. Happy camping and thank you for letting us tag along. God bless you!
Just watched the first 5 minutes and it looks amazing. Will give it a full watch tonight when I get home. Currently out walking from Kettlewell to Coniston. Got to make the most of the time off work. 👍
Another great video! I decided to watch it on my TV for a change and was not disappointed, the scenery looked awesome and then we had the unexpected drama. Your genuine concern for the chap who fell really came across and your response to the situation was inspiring. I really enjoy that your videos tend to be a bit longer than some of those from other channels, it gives us time to soak up the atmosphere and beautiful scenery. I always pull up OS maps and try to work out where you are and what routes you are taking. Keep up the great work, looking forward to more of your Scottish adventures.
Came back to watch this after camping in the hidden valley last week. Your night was exactly how I pictured it being, all tranquil and beautiful…. I got flooded out of the valley at 1am 😂 Had to move to higher ground. Crazy night, absolutely loved it!!! Cool, video, cracking drone shots of the valley 🤙🏼
Wow, this had everything, the weather, the scenery, the mission, the hero and a happy ending. Who needs Hollywood when Al produces these videos for all our enjoyment, running out of superlatives.
I love the place, stumbled on the Hidden Valley by accident, like you, I thought it was prehistoric! It doesn't look that far to get up where that guy fell but it takes an age. Glad he was OK, must've had a right shock. No way there's a twin of Blue, but alas, there is haha, two stunning dogs. Such a great camp, calm and what a night sky, absolutely stunning! Needless to say, you were clearly ready and willing to do anything to help that guy, think it gave you even more drive to get up that snow👏. Top video as always, great place, look forward to the Ben Nevis one😀🏞🤘
Thanks Paul. I thought exactly that… it took an age to walk up that path and you don’t seem to get any closer😂. I was definitely mentally preparing for all scenarios to help that guy out with the kit I had like sliding /lowering him down in my emergency Bivvy to get him off the snow. 👍
Firstly, great to see your assistance to the fellow mountain enthusiast and it's re-assuring for others to see that we do look after each other on the hills. That could have been a much worse situation as you said. I've yet to venture into the Hidden Valley but know it's a hot spot for the 'gram' and the fire spots just show this, plus I wouldn't be surprised if it was the ancient trees that were the fuel. Good to see the valley from another point of view and looking forward to getting up there myself sometime soon.
Go there in June, it is then a magical alpine valley full of flowers. Yes we do live on a beautiful world, let's keep it that way. Take care, keep safe and keep smiling. Cheers. Pete.
Helping others in any emergency is the mark of a decent human being, it's also one of the most important rules in mountaineering and climbing etiquette, speaking from experience, sometimes a simple, are you ok, can save a life on a mountain... so well done AL & Blue. Enjoyed your wee road trip so far, I 100% share your enthusiasm and passion for the outdoors. ATB.
People who enjoy the mountains are generally decent humans and that team spirit is always there. It’s nice showing it so people understand the importance. Thanks mate.
Superb video again Al. Good to see you put in the effort to check on the guy that had the fall. As I'm sure you know it isn't great to take a casualties word for it that they are okay, denial is the default reaction for many a casualty in a situations like that. Fantastic that you were rewarded with a good 9 hour kip for your good deed 👍🏼
That what I thought that he was still on the adrenaline and might not be quite coherent. Luckily he was a top bloke and was thankful for my efforts and care.
Another great one Al. Well done for going to the aid of another in need. The Scottish mountains can be a brutal environment and none of know when we might need assistance.
Scenery was awesome. Better now the weather is milder. Another dog like blue, lovely ay. Thanku for taking us with you. Glad the man who fell was ok, scarey
Al I’ve just got around to watching this after trying to find something to watch on Amazon prime and Netflix this is real mate looks like you and blue are in your natural environment I can’t wait to get up there one day all the best thanks for your time making these videos all the best Al
What an epic! Always good to see people helping others in their hour of need so, well done to you. Interesting you say it's a river bed where you camped and it's in complete contrast to the other one you pitched in and you were practically afloat. That was a really memorable camp! I guess I'm not the only one who calls to Blue when he approaches the camera. What a faithful companion you have there and he really enjoys himself. Tail wagging all the time and he really does look like a rescue dog with his pack on. I've been to Glencoe several times in the past and it's such an impressive part of the country. Sadly, because of my disability now, I've had to ease up my 'adventures' though I can still manage some gentler walks with my hiking poles. Maybe, just maybe.......................?
Yes that camp with the melt water was ridiculous but strangely enjoyable. You’ll just have to keep getting out and doing what you can my friend. It is always worth the effort even if the adventure is small and just sat somewhere beautiful taking it all in👌. Thanks mate👍
Wow ! What an amazing adventure Allen. Jill and I could see the determination on your face to get to the fallen hiker and offer help. I had two nights at Angle tarn but it was a piece of cake compared to your adventure. Jill sends her love.
Just watched the Hidden Valley’s video again brilliant. Good to see people like you who care for your fellow man pleased the man who fell wasn’t badly hurt. I have on numerous occasions been present at incidents that have not had happy endings. Good to see you care. I am sure the people who watch your videos will be sense able and know the ropes Leave No Trace Cheers all the best. Take care BK
I think generally mountain folk are all quite similar and would always help. The lad was thankful for my efforts and concern and luckily all intact. Cheers chief👊
😁👏 Firstly, well done Al for attending to the fallen guy. Anyone of us would have done the same, glad to see he was OK.. Now Epic video.. The hidden valley is a stunner and such dramatic scenery alround. Thanks for sharing as always Al 😁👍
I did that walk a few years back. That sheer drop you pointed out is the one bit that scared me quite a lot! I was leaning away from it both times I walked that section hehe. The walk up was worth it. Definitely want to go again before I am too old.
Well done, Al. Lucky lucky man. Thanks for demonstrating to us all and reminding us all that we need to look out for each other in these risky locations 👌
Glencoe is utterly breathtaking. Has to be seen with the naked eye to be believed. My dogs won’t touch the metal stairs either….can’t blame you Blue. Where is better, Skye or Glencoe? Two amazing locations.
Hello and another cracking video. I wild camped there 3yrs ago and loved it. Well done for checking out the fallen person 👍. Really enjoyed watching. Atb Steve 👍
Top lad Alan. Good on yer for helping out safely. Always get a positive message of experiencing the outdoors when watching yours videos. Why I always keep going back. Atb, and keep up the good work

As a solo hiker, I thank you. The “taking care of our own” is a code to be embraced.

Thanks from all walkers for seeing that that chap was ok and could continue his journey
Yes he was in a bit of shock but so glad he was able to get off the mountain unaided.

Just watched the first 5 minutes and it looks amazing. Will give it a full watch tonight when I get home. Currently out walking from Kettlewell to Coniston. Got to make the most of the time off work. 👍
Nice walk😉
Another great video! I decided to watch it on my TV for a change and was not disappointed, the scenery looked awesome and then we had the unexpected drama. Your genuine concern for the chap who fell really came across and your response to the situation was inspiring. I really enjoy that your videos tend to be a bit longer than some of those from other channels, it gives us time to soak up the atmosphere and beautiful scenery. I always pull up OS maps and try to work out where you are and what routes you are taking. Keep up the great work, looking forward to more of your Scottish adventures.
Definitely watch on a TV as I film in 4K so it looks mint. It’s easy enough to work out my routes with a bit of map sense. 😉👌
Came back to watch this after camping in the hidden valley last week.
Your night was exactly how I pictured it being, all tranquil and beautiful….
I got flooded out of the valley at 1am 😂
Had to move to higher ground.
Crazy night, absolutely loved it!!!
Cool, video, cracking drone shots of the valley 🤙🏼
Your conditions were slightly worse😂😂😂. Well done though👊
@@BUSHMANandBLUE If it was always sunny it’s be boring. Right!…. Right??? 👀 lol
Definitely! I’m bored of summer and can’t wait for winter😉
@@BUSHMANandBLUE Haha… I think you might be my spirit animal 😂
Wow, this had everything, the weather, the scenery, the mission, the hero and a happy ending. Who needs Hollywood when Al produces these videos for all our enjoyment, running out of superlatives.
😂😂😂 thanks boss! I, just filming what’s there🤷🏻♂️👊
Good tab . Good job helping the fella who fell.
I was definitely mentally preparing for all scenarios to help that guy out with the kit I had like sliding
/lowering him down in my emergency Bivvy to get him off the snow. 👍
@@BUSHMANandBLUE top guy💪👏🏞🤘
Firstly, great to see your assistance to the fellow mountain enthusiast and it's re-assuring for others to see that we do look after each other on the hills. That could have been a much worse situation as you said. I've yet to venture into the Hidden Valley but know it's a hot spot for the 'gram' and the fire spots just show this, plus I wouldn't be surprised if it was the ancient trees that were the fuel.
Good to see the valley from another point of view and looking forward to getting up there myself sometime soon.
Definitely worth a visit mate and I need to complete the route up on to the summits so I’ll be back agian👍👍👍
Your a very kind man, we head here often to camp, it is so peaceful.we live Blue, you look after him well.
Thanku.😃🙏😃
Love blue. ❤️❤️❤️
Lucky you! Definitely a place to escape👊
Go there in June, it is then a magical alpine valley full of flowers.
Yes we do live on a beautiful world, let's keep it that way.
Take care, keep safe and keep smiling. Cheers. Pete.
I bet it is lovely and in deep winter. I need to try both👌
Helping others in any emergency is the mark of a decent human being, it's also one of the most important rules in mountaineering and climbing etiquette, speaking from experience, sometimes a simple, are you ok, can save a life on a mountain... so well done AL & Blue. Enjoyed your wee road trip so far, I 100% share your enthusiasm and passion for the outdoors. ATB.
People who enjoy the mountains are generally decent humans and that team spirit is always there. It’s nice showing it so people understand the importance. Thanks mate.
Thank you. Your passion for mountain walking is inspiring.
Cool get out there pal👌👊
VERY JELOUS MATE WISH MY BODY WOULD TAKE ME UP LOL KEEP EM COMING
You just have to do what you can mate and enjoy the journey👍
Apparently there have been several deaths in the past few months up there. A dangerous place buy beautiful 👍
The last few minutes explaining fires
#Respect 👊🏻
Lovely vid. Hidden Valley is one of my favourite locations.
Cheers mate👍👊
Really enjoyed this Al! Wow, was that guy lucky, wasn't his time to meet his maker thankfully. Thank you. 😊
Yes a lucky fella as it could have been far worse!
Beautiful scenery, Norfolk at its very finest.
Absolutely crazy! Very lucky to walk away from a fall like that. Hope he is not too shaken up by the experience and gets out hiking again soon.
He’s messaged me and he’s back too it just with a little bit more caution in mind👍
Scenery was awesome. Better now the weather is milder. Another dog like blue, lovely ay. Thanku for taking us with you. Glad the man who fell was ok, scarey
Yes a younger version of blue just a year old 🥰 Thanks.
Great video, very scenic valley. Glad the climber who fell is OK.
Really enjoyed joining you and your beautiful dog on this hike. Gorgeous country! Kudos for checking in
on your fellow hiker.
Thank you and yes he is beautiful 🥰
Fair play sir! Going out of your way to help that stricken climber 👍
Always would mate 👍
Bushman and blue to the rescue. Top work Al. As you say we need to be there for each other.
Well up there it definitely can be life or death. Always sharing my energy and love👍
Al I’ve just got around to watching this after trying to find something to watch on Amazon prime and Netflix this is real mate looks like you and blue are in your natural environment I can’t wait to get up there one day all the best thanks for your time making these videos all the best Al
Cheers Trev. Way better than multi million dollar films 😂😂😂
@@BUSHMANandBLUE go on for 3 hours these days mate I’ve not got patience much rather get motivated for a wild one all the best al
Thank goodness you were there to help guide that man down , glad he’s ok but it makes for yet another fab video …x
Wow ! What an amazing adventure Allen. Jill and I could see the determination on your face to get to the fallen hiker and offer help. I had two nights at Angle tarn but it was a piece of cake compared to your adventure. Jill sends her love.
Thanks John. I bet you loved it at angle tarn. There is something so peaceful about that place 😊👌👍
Cheers chief👊
wow, Blue and his twin were so alike! What a lovely find! Great vid, thank you!
I like the way Blue gets to carry his own kit.
Unbelievable, you can’t be too careful in the hills . Well done lad , great video again 👌👌🇮🇪🇮🇪Atb Tony
Absolutely amazing scenery - a really captivating video, nice one! PS - some of the longest camera walk-by shots I’ve seen, good on ya 👍
😂 yes I might be on for the record for camera walk backs. I don’t mind as I’m fit enough. 👊
You are The Man ... if I was in that guys shoes then I'd be so grateful if you & Blue came over the horizon 👏🏼
He was okay but he appreciated and was thankful for my efforts and concern👍
What a nice place! Superb video!
Your making your memories young un thanks for sharing give blue a scratch from me epic again.
Yes I’m trying but people should start even younger really👍
another brilliant video mate, top man for helping out the gentleman, glad he was ok
😁👏 Firstly, well done Al for attending to the fallen guy. Anyone of us would have done the same, glad to see he was OK.. Now Epic video.. The hidden valley is a stunner and such dramatic scenery alround. Thanks for sharing as always Al 😁👍
Thanks Mike. Luckily he was okay. Just a bashed face and bust ankle but he walked back down the mountain👍
Man performs a good deed, shares his meal with nature, has a perfect nights rest and no condensation. Karma is real.
😂👌. That’s it mate. It’s all about helping in life where you can
Brilliant trek again and well done for helping that guy out 👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I did that walk a few years back. That sheer drop you pointed out is the one bit that scared me quite a lot! I was leaning away from it both times I walked that section hehe. The walk up was worth it. Definitely want to go again before I am too old.
Yes make a plan and get back there!
What a sensational area, just stunning😎👍
A lucky lad. Could happen to the best of us. It’s an amazing place to spend the night!! Take care. D&L
Thanks and yes it can happen to anyone👍
Well done, Al. Lucky lucky man. Thanks for demonstrating to us all and reminding us all that we need to look out for each other in these risky locations 👌
I think most people would help but it was a long way over there with some rough terrain. I’d always help if I can.
Glencoe is utterly breathtaking. Has to be seen with the naked eye to be believed. My dogs won’t touch the metal stairs either….can’t blame you Blue. Where is better, Skye or Glencoe? Two amazing locations.
The last time I was in Skye I was 15 so I need to get back there👍👍👍
Well done al.mountain togetherness👍🏻
I think people forget how we all need to be kind and helpful for a happier life.👍
What a day! Glad that you uploaded it, thank you 😎😎
Great video thanks for sharing this with us well done 👍
Hello and another cracking video. I wild camped there 3yrs ago and loved it. Well done for checking out the fallen person 👍. Really enjoyed watching. Atb Steve 👍
You’ll appreciate its beauty then😉👍
Top lad Alan. Good on yer for helping out safely. Always get a positive message of experiencing the outdoors when watching yours videos. Why I always keep going back. Atb, and keep up the good work
