Dont tell this to many, but when i heard your story i felt you would know. Im 69 ,have ridden all my life . Went for a ride through the north ga. Mountians in the states a few years back, half way to my destination it started raining and i decided to push foward . The sky got darker and the rain got heavier i was in some serious curves , no one was out and about all of a sudden a falcon flew out of the woods about 30 feet in front of my bike, i dont know how long it stayed but it flew in front of me leaning, and banking through the curves ahead like a heaven sent guide. That’s awesome. We live pretty close to the dragon. Blue ridge parkway. Ext. so we (wife and I) take a lot of just nice day rides. And once we was coming down the parkway and turned into this nice curvy road that over looked a mnt view and all the sudden we noticed this huge eagle just cruising along beside of us with the mnt and the sunset in the background. And my wife said. “Some moments in life just time out to be absolutely perfect. And that was one of those moments”. Doing nothing else in the world would have been better than that moment. It’s rare. And very special when it happens.
Thank you for the inspiration. Had a two wheel tour of Europe planned in September and my biking buddy has had to drop out. Going by myself now. Just me and the Guzzi... already has a fresh edge. Brilliantly told story which nails most of the reasons for getting out there and doing it. Thank you

Just watched all 4 of this series, absolutely stunning thanks for sharing your stories. Had me close to tears in a few of them. You did well with the weather for April , I think May, June , September best times to avoid most of the tourists and midges and be a bit warmer. When I saw the pic of your mum she looked familiar not sure if I have seen a tv programme or a book about her / with her photos or seen her somewhere else. I was in a remote part of Sutherland a lot in the 70s and 80s when I was a kid ( born 69) as had family there and stayed with them most summers. My Brother in law was a game keeper on one of the estates.

These stories really are the reason we ride. Last year I decided to do a 600 mile solo round trip to visit my brother on a holiday weekend. I decided to do it on my '78 FXE Shovelhead, a bike I had owned only a little while and never ridden it very far from home. The morning I left it was pouring rain but I was determined to go anyway. Thankfully the rain stopped half way there, but 3/4 of the way to my brother's place the old Shovel stopped also, on a lonely road miles from any town. Immediately two different people stopped and asked if I needed help. The first guy had gas but didn't know how to fix a bike. The second guy and his wife pulled over (he was an old-school biker) and offered to help fix the "Troublehead" as he called it. I had tools for everything except a pair of wire strippers, which he had in his truck. Thankfully the wire on the ignition switch terminal was the only problem and 20 minutes later I was back on the road. In my time of need people showed up with offers of help, even in the middle of nowhere. That was one of those moments for me that renewed my faith in humanity. Thank you for making these videos, it reminds us there are good people the world over and we all need to look for opportunities to pay the debt forward.

And very much like the hog u ride , your vids may not be technically advanced , but they do have a lot of style , Style is everything 😎
You know, i dont own a motorbike or ever ridden one but this came up as a suggestion (i do wild camp) and man, just a great story of your journey but about the eagle flying with you is wonderful and i kind of know how you felt. To cut a long story short, my brother died a few years ago and I'd read that when those close to you die, they can appear or send signals in all sorts of form. Well, in my grief i decided i needed to push myself to make me feel alive again and so moved into a tiny little village in sussex without public transport, so i would have to cycle into work in Brighton every day. This also meant having to cycle up and over Ditching beacon, one of the highest hills in Sussex. Anyway, one day i was cycling along the top at some speed when suddenly, kestrel LITERALLY flew head height with me for a good minute or more , i could reach out and grab it, it was so close. We were eyeballing one another the whole way, me keeping one eye on the road and smiling the biggest smile possible with tears rolling down my face as me and this wonderful bird connected. My brother loved birds, trained a wild crow once but he loved kestrels and im convinced this day was him in some way saying hi. I believe your experience was your mother communicating with you. I don't believe in God in the traditional sense but i do believe the energy of those who have passed, lives on in some way which makes wonderful experiences like this happen. The world is full of wonder and wonderful people like Robbie Anderson. All the best. Safe travels.

A beautiful story and well told. My solo trip to the North of Scotland was during the pandemic in October 2020. 'Bob' my 2011 Harley Fat Bob and I set off in the pouring rain and it rarely stopped for the whole week. It nearly ended before it started when someone pulled out right in front of me on the A9. We missed each other by inches. I didnt stop coz I knew I would do something bad to him, I just kept going with me staring at him in my mirror and him stationary in the middle of the road staring back at me. I did the route anticlockwise because someone said it was the best way. An amazing experience and because of the pandemic there was nobody out and about until I got back down into Cumbria. Since then Ive solo rode through France and Spain but I want to return to Scotland. It was a different sort of experience.

Totally agree, it left far more to the imagination. Very inspirational

Without thinking much about it filled up the brass dish with a beer for Lee
Seconds later a Robin flew down
I hadn’t noticed it
But it was sitting 3ft away on a bush

A few years later I rode up the west coast and while on Skye, I lost my mind and bawled my eyes out thinking about how much she would have loved it.

Bloody hell apart from the rain must have been great during pandemic, I bet it was so peaceful. Lucky with that near miss.
I got ran into the rocks on Applecross by a twat in a huge van life wagon ,
He had a passing point to pull into
I did not ,
He just kept coming at me
I was going down hill
He didn’t even slow down
Jolene was skinny but he left me 5 inches on tarmac
And I literally dropped into the rubble on the rock side
Bounced over jagged rocks and came to a stopped
Thought I’d have multiple punctures
But no damage
I just got my cooker out made a cup of tea to calm down ..
if I had it my way all vans would be banned from them little roads ..
Car drivers are bad enough
Car drivers in giant vehicles
Is just a no no .
Hopefully next time you back
Get some dryer weather

@@mcbridephysioandperformanc1527 Thank you for watching,, I’m blown away so many people commented etc , each and everyone one , brings me a smile …
Best wishes !
Watched this in its entirety a couple of days ago. Great story of a great journey. My girl and I visited Scotland in the summer of ‘22 and were absolutely floored by its beauty, its friendly people and its amazing roads. I hope to get back there some day, this time on two wheels and do the NC 500, or just spend another 2-3 weeks exploring that amazing place. Thanks again for sharing your ride. Really enjoyed this!
Thanks mate. Sounds like you were as blown away as I . What a place . I’ll be back to . Best wishes
Great video.
Thanks for that !
Although it was many years ago i and 3 mates at the time rode up to scotland to lock lomond and surrounding area ,the people we met were nothing but freindly and we wild camped on farmland and near the lock ,it was a great trip and the scottish hospitality was second to none! Your trip was very special and good to watch thankyou.
@@daveunsworth9931 Good to hear that . It’s great to shatter the old myth that they all hate the English and vice versa … I hate this stuff you hear growing up ,
Bloody French
Bloody Italians
Bloody Scots
Too many people going by one persons encounter with another stranger and judging a whole country .
Thanks for watching
How good would it be to have a follow up reunion and ride with Robbie.
@@cozzy8087 it is going to happen ..
going bank up in spring gonna go camp out with him in some spot he knows ..
I’ll hopefully film it too ..
What an absolutely feckin beautiful video and story, it might've bought a tear to my eye 😉 We also got lucky in Scotland as well with no rain a couple of years back. VIVA ROBBIE ANDERSON! 😁😎👌
@@BikesCarsandChat Cheers Pal ! Glad you had a good trip also …
Viva Robbie Anderson!!
Long, long before the inter'web or even books, we had storytellers. We are hardwired to listen, feel and appreciate a great story.
Whatever the medium, the story is what touches us. You have the power; t'is a rare power to tell a tale that touches the heart.
Thanks to Robbie for being the fire that ignited this story and to you for telling it so eloquently.
Brilliant; even without the gopro.
@@dustifyoumust2244 Just when I thought the comments on here could not get any better…. I’m truly humbled by this .

Jesus at 71 You have just explained to me what I am ? Not practical vision over everything. What it looks like to me is so so important built a rat/survival bike 3 years ago love it to bits made many many friends through what it looked like but now too heavy for these old legs so back to the norm and yes Scotland is special be it by bike or even car Cheers !!
