Just bought those at a pawn shop 70 bucks great condition and am amazed how good they are, super soothing to the eye and very clear, didn't know Oakley was worth it until now, never buying cheap sunglasses anymore, didn't know the technology and how important it is and damaging too.
I was swimming in the ocean today and these things floating in the water, and right into my hand! I looked around for a while to find the owner, but nobody showed. I was going to use them as junk glasses for work around the shop, but when I found them online for $250+ I think I’ll keep them in my pocket😂.
Flak 2.0 XL is really awesome. Looks cool while very sporty looking. I have all radars, radar xl, radarlock xl, radar ev etc. Radars are great sport sunglasses, but sometimes it feels little heavy on the nose area, but this is not a problem for flak 2.0 xl. My favourite colors for Flak 2.0 xl are Ruby Fade, Harmony Fade, Green Fade and Polished white with prizm black polarized.
The salesperson at the local sunglass/eyeglass shop listened to what I was looking for and led me straight to a wall of Oakley's. He handed me a pair of Flak 2.0 XL, I put 'em on and bought a pair without trying on anything else. They're really cool, comfortable, and stick to my face without trapping the sweat. I've paid a lot more for frames, but these seemed to be a bit pricy; but still happy with my purchase.

Bought a Flak XLJ prescription with photochromatic in 2011. I used them in many kind of sports and used them to swim in the sea. They worked brilliantly. Never fell off or broke during sports. I dropped them a few times but they got no scratches. 2024 is the year to buy a new pair or perhaps just change the prescription lenses so I can read with them 😎 Edit: oh prices in my new country over 1000 $
Funny story. I ordered a pair of Oakley Frogskins this year when my I found a way to break my pair of Holbrooks. Absolutely love my Frogskins and still wear them all the time during my casual time, but they have those wonderful gaps on the side of the lenses. As someone who drives for a living and is outside a lot, I could never get over how much sun I still had to deal with wearing the Frogskins. Ordered a Flak 2.0 XL and all of those problems vanished. To me, it’s the perfect intersection between fashion and function and I completely understand why so many people wear this frame. It’s just about perfect for anything you need to do.
Problem solved! Any 6 or 8 base wrap, like the Flak 2.0 xl, will aid you in blocking additional light entering your field of view from the sides of the frame. The 4-base wrap like that of the Frogskins, make for a great lifestyle frame but will inevitably create a bit of eyestrain because more light is getting between your eyes and the lenses.
Is there anyway to modify the temple pieces? I got these for coaching baseball and playing softball and they’re almost unwearable with most hats. I tried to put the temple pieces on the outside of the hat but it doesn’t work for me. I try to tuck them under the hat but sometimes that causes the frame to bounce on my nose.
I wonder can I put simple (no shades) prescription lenses into it? As it looks the thickness of the lenses has to be very precise, since you can put only right thickness lenses? Also as i have noticed prescription lenses usually are flat. And these lenses are curved.
Are we able to get these in a progressive prescription? The Flak 2.0 XL is not offered in progressive form from the Oakley website - only single. Thanks.

The video lists the nose bridge dimensions as 16mm and the stem length as 125mm. Why are the numbers printed on the inside of the left stem 12 and 133 for these?
It is because we measure the frame differently than Oakley. If you need help finding the right size frame you can reach our certified opticians here: www.sportrx.com/contact
@@sportrxeyewear Thank you. I found this answer after posting the same question today. Is Oakley consistent? They mark the FLAK XLJ '14' and the JACKET 2.0 '15'. Not sure if the bridge is actually wider than Flak 2.0. I need my frames to sit lower to center the pupil an close the cheek gap better. My old Juliette's were great iirc.
I'm looking for a wider bridge in a medium frame for a long oval head shape with a wide tall lens. My Flak 2.0 XL Team U.S.A edition are stem marked 59 'O' 133. Same with my matte black FLAK 2.0 009188's. My older Flak XLJ 12-903's are stem-marked 63 ‘O’ 14 x 135 and seem to allow the frame to sit lower to better center the pupil but still a more gap than I like below and pupil is below the center. The Rx lens retention is not as good as the Flak 2.0. Another pair is stem-marked simply 'JACKET 2.0' 009144-04 62 'O' 15 ( not marked Half Jacket ). Box label: upc 7 00285 49337 4 also 009144 / 91440462 and 009144-04. What else should I consider?
So weird. I ordered these on a whim in the Prizm Deep Water blue/black variation for tennis (at Sunglass Hut, sorry guys, but now I know about y'all!) and they just came in yesterday and I have to say I'm impressed: super clear and bright vision, I can't wait to try these when I play tennis next. I know nothing about sunglasses for tennis other than needing blue/green tint but these have a rose tint on the inside and blue on the outside. The manager there was super knowledgeable about them and I'm pumped that these were recommended to me. Will report back after I hit with these on a sunny day! Normally I don't wear sunglasses when I play but I can see these helping me see the ball and not get as distracted by the sun.

I actually bought one with prescription. Now I have 2 scars on the bottom of my eyes both left and right because the lens is so close to my face every time my face gets accidentally bumped. The thick sharp lens would leave a “nail scratch-like” wound scar to my face. @SportRX is there still a solution for this? Pls help me. I invested around 500usd for this type of sports glasses. Hello! Sorry to hear that! The one downside to The Flak 2.0 XL is that it's not rated for impact and shatter resistance, nor does it meet the ANSI (industrial) or ASTM (recreational) safety standards and is generally not recommended for contact sports. That said, many athletes still opt for this frame for its staying power and lens interchangeability. Most definitely if you need them in prescription. If you do not need rx lenses then the shield may be a better option if you want uninterrupted coverage and prefer the shield style.
XLJ have a different notch arrangement than XL. Revant says that XLJ fit HALF JACKET. XLJ fits my JACKET 2.0 but the optics are off possibly because of the way that frame fits my face.

Hi there! The frame chassis is the same. The only difference is the lens height. The 'XL' has a taller lens that is cut out on the bottom to fit around your cheekbone. The lenses on the standard Flak 2.0 have a flat bottom. Thanks for reaching out!
Ah, that is a tough one! These would not be a good fit for earmuffs, you are correct. The temples would be too bulky to wear with earmuffs. If you were to change to in-ears, they would be a good option for you!
Hi there! The Flak 2.0 XL can most definitely be used for driving because the frame has great wrap so the temple arms don't block your peripherals views.

For a few similar design styles that do meet safety standards, click on the links below:

Do they do a good job of preventing sweat from going in your eyes? Do they have a built in brow guard of some sort?
Hi Jeremiah! They will not keep sweat from going in your eyes but the Unobtainium grip sure gets stickier and tackier the more you sweat!
Hi there! Do you think this frame is appropriate for moderate to frequent lens changing? On the long-term, will you damage the frame?
It is absolutely appropriate! They are designed for just that. Change them as much as you like without concern for damaging the frame!
Don't forget, we have friendly, knowledgeable opticians who would love to help with more tailored assistance and you can get them at 888-831-5817!

Is it good to wear for long time ? To be honest is it good for driving?
Do you gentlemen know if the Oakley on the front on top of the nose bridge wears out?
It does not, it is very durable. I used mine for many yrs,not a prob
What’s is the best lens to have for these
That depends on what activity you are using them for! You can learn all about PRIZM lens options here: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-prescription-lenses/
SportRx the lens frame that I would like to get are the Holbrook, flak 2.0 or the spilt shot. What one should I choose. Also what lens would be best for everday sports and life.
How much bigger are the Flak 2.0 Flak XL to the regular size?? Thanks 👍🏻
The XL just refers to the extended lens coverage rather than the frame fit. This frame fits medium to large heads but there is also an XS version available for smaller heads.
Hi, can you please let me know the usage of Prizm Sapphire Polarized lens in Flax 2.0 XL ? Will it be useful for driving?
Thanks.
That is a great question! The Prizm Sapphire Polarize lenses are great for all-around, everyday use. It is an amazing lens for driving!
@@sportrxeyewear Thanks..
Do I need 🤔 doctor specialist encryption for tbi injury thank you sir
Hi Damien! Possibly. We would need to learn more information about the diagnosis and problems associated with the injury to recommend a suitable frame+lens combination. Give us a call to get started 877.289.2999
Do any of the materials deteriorate, turn to mush like other soft plastics?
No, these sunglasses are built to last. If you use these sunglasses under normal conditions they will hold up just fine!
Just got these today and I feel like there is a gap below my eyes. Is this how they are supposed to fit or do I just have a really large head?
The Flak 2.0 XL typically fits a wide variety of head shapes and sizes including Rob who has a 7 and 3/4 hat size. Are they sitting too high on your nosebridge? You can always contact one of our certified opticians to troubleshoot sizing: www.sportrx.com/contact
@@sportrxeyewear I wear the same hat size as Rob! After wearing them for a while I think they actually feel fine. I think I just wasn't really use to the style. of them. Thanks!
Love this review thank you
What lense would you recommend for beach volleyball?
Great question! We would recommend PRIZM Black or PRIZM Sapphire due to the bright conditions. And if you are not too sure if you want a polarized lens, this video may help you decide: ua-cam.com/video/fpY_-RpAZ98/v-deo.html&feature=emb_title
Rob, what are the lens on yours? prizm black? polarized?
Hi there! Rob is wearing the PRIZM Black Polarized lens. Thanks for reaching out!
Hi.it is too bad am in europe and to get prescription oakleys from you would mean paying taxes.but i do watch your info and reviews.
Hi there! Thanks for watching our videos!
I ordered mine from OakleySI. Mine do not say USA Made...are they made in USA??
Hello there! Some models are still made in the U.S. but since many of the parts are now made overseas they do not have a stamp on them. Hope this helps!
Which lens is the darkest for working in lots of direct sunlight?
PRIZM Black is the darkest lens. Get PRIZM Black polarized for ultimate glare reduction! You can learn more about it here: www.sportrx.com/blog/oakley-prizm-black-polarized/
@@sportrxeyewear i really appreciate the reply. I did purchase a pair of the flak 2.0 xl with black iridium. I work in commercial construction and often run equipment lifting materials and spend a lot of time looking up, so sunglare is a big problem. Color contrast isn't a issue as much as just blocking out glare. So hopefully the black iridium will work. I saw the black iridium is a %9 light transmission.
I'm looking for case for my flak 2.0 xl any recommendations

The first gift I will give myself when I finish university will be a badass oakley sunglass.
That's a great goal! Good luck with university and thanks for watching!
Are these suitable for shooting? (ballistic rated?)
Great question! No, the Flak 2.0 XL does not meet safety standards when it comes to impact and shatter resistance. You'll want a frame with an ANSI rating at the very least. Click on the link to view our curated list of shooting frames! All of which are ANSI certified. 100%! One of the best for hiking 👍
Could these be used for football if I got a clear pair?
Hi Matthew! We don't recommend this pair for football as it wouldn't fit under your helmet but the Wiley X Gamer would. Check them out here: www.sportrx.com/wiley-x-gamer.html.
Would it fit a medium size head of a 14 year old? Bc I mountain bike and I’m thinking of buying this bc this is the only size they have:/ someone plssss reply
That is tough to say. I think it could work but may be a tad big. You can always check out the Half Jacket 2.0 XL. It is a slightly smaller version of the Flak 2.0 XL: www.sportrx.com/oakley-half-jacket-2-0-xl.html
SportRx would the Oakley radar ev fit a 14 year old?
This would be better option for Triathlon than Radar EV?
Most definitely if you need them in prescription. If you do not need rx lenses then the shield may be a better option if you want uninterrupted coverage and prefer the shield style.
Radar path or flak 2.0 . Which one is better
Radar is you want extra coverage but Flak if you want them in rx or like to swap lenses on the fly.
Can XLJ lenses fit in these frames?
No, they do not fit in the Flak 2.0 XL frame. Thanks for reaching out!
XLJ have a different notch arrangement than XL. Revant says that XLJ fit HALF JACKET. XLJ fits my JACKET 2.0 but the optics are off possibly because of the way that frame fits my face.
Can it be photchromic and polarized?
No, it has to be one or the other but you can talk more about your options with our certified opticians here: www.sportrx.com/contact
Can I get these in RX like -6, -6.25?
Contact one of our certified opticians for more recommendations based on your rx: www.sportrx.com/contact
looks so cool
Agreed! Thanks for checking out our video!
The Flak 2.0 and Flak jacket are the best sunglasses ever made.
Thanks for checking out our video and sharing your opinion with us!
wouldn't work for waterpolo or hockey
Will a +4.75 fit in these frames if I choose to get sportrx custom lenses?
Hi there Jake! That is on the edge of what is possible in this frame so we recommend grabbing a full copy of your rx and contacting one of our certified opticians to see if we can make them for you. You can reach them here: www.sportrx.com/contact
Difference between 2.0 and 2.0 xl?
Hi there! The frame chassis is the same. The only difference is the lens height. The 'XL' has a taller lens that is cut out on the bottom to fit around your cheekbone. The lenses on the standard Flak 2.0 have a flat bottom. Thanks for reaching out!
@@sportrxeyewear So the flag XL lenses fit in a flak 2.0 frame?
What about cricket?
The Flak 2.0 XL would be great for cricket!
Of course!
Bought and returned, the lenses don’t have proper anti reflecting coating.
Hi Kevin! We are curious as to what lens option you ordered. Please let us know how we can help you out!
For Oakley flat 2.0 thank you forgot
Shooting with ear muffs nuff said
Ah, that is a tough one! These would not be a good fit for earmuffs, you are correct. The temples would be too bulky to wear with earmuffs. If you were to change to in-ears, they would be a good option for you!
Hi ; are these good for driving?
Hi there! The Flak 2.0 XL can most definitely be used for driving because the frame has great wrap so the temple arms don't block your peripherals views.
@@sportrxeyewear thanks a lot, between the gibston or the flak 2.0 xl which Oné is the best for driving?
These did not fit me at all the lower lens is barely covering my lower eyes, the lens let in tons of light at the lower portion
Not recommended for Italian men with prominent features
Ha! Sport? Swimming in the ocean! I got mine for free when I found them floating in the water😂😂😂
Does this also asian fit?
Yes! You can check it out here: www.sportrx.com/oakley-flak-2-0-asian-fit.html
I hate how you didn't add basketball 😑
The Flak 2.0 XL is great for basketball! It is really just great for about any sport out there!! That is what makes it the ultimate sport sunglass.
@@sportrxeyewear I would love to see proof first please. None of your reviews say that's it great for basketball. I don't even think basketball players know these glasses exist.😑
