    ☆ ABOUT ME ☆
    I am a former tech worker who lived in NYC for 30 years. When I reached 50, I set out my own and created a business selling on Amazon using their FBA program. Great fun, but neither career left much time for healthy living.
    I turned 60 last year (2023). I found myself 110 pounds overweight and seriously out-of-shape, pre-diabetic, with sky-high cholesterol, and unable to walk for more than 20 minutes without resting.
    I decided to make some major changes. I shut down my Amazon business and started living frugally. Health is more important than money, especially as we grow older. In August 2023 I started the carnivore diet and lost 65 pounds in 3 months.
    Now I’m hooked! I can walk for miles without a rest now. My cholesterol is within normal levels as is my blood pressure. I am no longer pre-diabetic, and I feel 30 years younger!
    After experiencing the benefits, I’ve become passionate about sharing my story to help others.

    Carnivore is the least stress easy way to eat there is, no being hungry no thinking about food all the time and rapid body change.

      Agreed, my husband and I are truck drivers and meal prep is a breeze now. We're about to get into sausage making on our home time because he misses bratwurst! Such a change from keto where I was constantly chasing recipes and trying to find copycats for carbs.

    After 18 months of eating carnivore, I can’t see myself eating plants again. It’s too simple, I feel too good, it’s less expensive, the food is so good, no chopping and recipes and side dishes and hassle. My life no longer revolves around food and medicine and doctors visits. I don’t get sick, never tired, sore. The comfort in knowing I’ll never be obese again, cancer, diabetes and heart disease and Alzheimer’s are not in my future. I don’t crave anything. I have total food freedom. I used to weigh 305 and now 205. This April I will run the Boston marathon. Now tell me eating only meat is bad for my health. I’m 62 and feel like 32

    My answer to people that say you’ve got to eat vegetables to get the nutrients is I eat vegetarians, ruminant animals that have four chambers stomachs are designed to process plant-based diets, and they break it down for us to eat them.

    You go, guy! I support what you're doing. I've been on the carnivore diet for a year. Before that, I was on the keto diet for over 30 years... before the keto diet became so popular. The keto diet saved my life and helped me to lose 80 pounds (all I needed to lose) in the first year alone. So during that year I bought my clothes at the Salvation Army because I knew they would not fit me as I continued to lose more weight. I was very happy with that diet but I wanted to try carnivore because I like meat and it seemed such a simple way to prepare a meal... no more fiddling around with several items in one meal. Just air fry a steak and be done with it. BTW, I never got the 'keto flu' when I started the keto diet nor the carnivore diet. I DID, however get horrible constipation when I started the carnivore diet. Had it for 2 weeks and it was so bad that it caused bleeding hemorrhoids. But that cleared up and my carnivore journey smoothed out. You mentioned Jordan Peterson... I really like him. His daughter is the one who turned him onto the carnivore diet. She had horrible autoimmune disease and the carnivore diet worked for her so Jordan tried it, liked the results it gave him and so he continued it. He said it even cleared up his eyesight. It's amazing what a good diet can do.

    Jay, Thank you for another great video. I really love how you just give the very clear experience of your own journey to health. The thing that made it easy for you was your firm commitment from the very start. You were firm and didn't stray from your program. I started more than five years ago to be Carnivore, but I kept on giving in to my carb cravings and the result for me is different. I was able to be about 95% Carnivore over these five years and so I healed so many things, bleeding gums, skin problems, snoring, teeth grinding in my sleep time, a large growth I had for forty years just went away from my leg, about 100 skin tags dropped off my body. All these improvements, yet somehow I would get weak and give in when I was pressured to go out to restaurants, perhaps only once per month, but the result was that I did not lose any weight and that made me very discouraged. I keep watching people like you giving your results and I do not give up on myself. It could be my age of 78 or my severe insulin-resistance, but I keep on and feel if only I can keep on, eventually I will find success in the weight loss as well as all the healing benefits.

    I can relate to the lack of aches and pains, no more arthritic pains in my joints since carnivore/ketovore. It's the sugar, processed foods, inflammatory oils (soy, vegetable, sunflower, etc.) that are the biggest problem. Carnivore is the best diet out there for arthritis, even rheumatoid arthritis. Actually, it's the best "diet" out there, full stop. So glad you are sharing this so new way of life others can see that health really is a matter of what we choose to eat. I also recommend grass fed bone broth, especially in the winter. Warms you from the inside out on cold days. Bare Bones brand is the one I prefer. It's the only one I've found that congeals in the fridge so you know it's chock full of collagen, good for skin, joints and your gut microbiome. So glad you shared the benefits you experienced and how life altering eating carnivore is 🎉.

    Good video. The only criticism is that most doctors nowadays are not on board with a carnivore diet because they work for large medical bureaucracies which insist that their practitioners follow their guidelines which are dictated by government standards subversively controlled by big pharma and big food.

    Your success is impressive! May I suggest that you quit being concerned about your cholesterol and watch what Dr Anthony Chaffee says about the cholesterol con? I have read in multiple places that those older patients with an elevated LDL, live longer. Well done Jay, your doing great, I have been looking at the carnoviore diet and started cutting carbs and junk foods december 1, I planned to take a month and slowly get off all the junk foods ,so I have been gradually cutting back and getting adjusted to the carnoviore diet to try and avoid the keto flu if possible. I tried several diets over the years with some limited success, so I am glad to see success stories on this plan and i cant wait to be 100 percent carnoviore on Jan 1 , The good part for me is I am 65 with no real health issues , I could lose some weight but I am not obese, so for me this diet is to get healthier, get my BMI down so as i get older ,I can stay off drugs , medications and doctor visits. Keep up the good work

    Great Video,, Thanks

  • @Hertz2laugh
    @Hertz2laugh 6 місяців тому +8

    I appreciate the video overall.
    My one criticism is the use of the term "keto flu" instead of the proper term which is "carbohydrate withdrawals."
    The uncomfortable conditions you experienced had nothing to do with ketogenic eating or ketosis.
    For example, if you were already on the carnivore diet for a year, except for the fact that you were a crack addict, if you suddenly stopped doing crack, you would get the same symptoms that you experienced as "keto flu" -- headache, low energy, intense cravings, mood swings, etc etc.
    In other words, it's withdrawals from a drug addiction, not something caused by ketosis.
    Carbohydrates (sugar) is chemically addictive, just like caffein, nicotine, alcohol, cocaine, opium, etc.
    When you suddenly drastically reduce (or completely cut) your exposure to carbohydrates, you experience chemical withdrawals for a week or so.
    I think this is worth mentioning because the words we use are important.
    Using a misleading term like "keto flu" implies that ketogenic eating somehow has a negative aspect to it.
    The reality is that *_addiction_* has a negative aspect to it.
    Aside from that, I think the video was excellent, and your testimony is awesome.

    • @Jaylwoodworth
      @Jaylwoodworth  6 місяців тому +1

    • @magnessskippton2509

      Actually it's a bit more complicated than that. You also get the effect of losing electrolytes through dumping water weight and not being able to re-absorbing your bile/changing your gut ph level (

    • @Hertz2laugh
      @Hertz2laugh 6 місяців тому

      @@magnessskippton2509 All of those symptoms are still linked to carbohydrate consumption, not ketosis.
      In other words it's still not a *_keto_* flu, it's carbohydrate withdrawals
      For example, you aren't dumping water because of elevated ketones, you are dumping water because of decreased blood sugar/insulin levels.

      I drink mostly water, and two cups of coffee per day. My coffee is half regular half decaf. I drink it black. I also get San pellegrino every so often as I like the bubbles. No beer or sodas, not even diet ones. I’ve also been drinking raw milk and kefir occasionally, but am going to cut back as my weight loss has slowed and I think it might be due to the lactose. A big glass of milk has about 10-15 grams of carbohydrates. It’s an adjustment to drink just water, but now I don’t miss the flavored drinks and diet sodas at all.

    F the "talk to your doctor first" before going on a Keto or Carnivore diet. Don't you know what they all say?
    -You are nuts!
    -Don't do it!
    -You'll get scurvy/heart attack/diabetes/fat!
    -You need sugar and medicine to survive!

    Keto flu can only last two days. That is how long it takes for your body to use all stored glucose and glycogen and to switch over to keytones.
    You did something wrong if it took two weeks.
    I suspect that you consumed milk which contains lactose.

      I had keto rash. It lasted 2-3 weeks…. I guess it depends on the person.

      If you stop consuming carbs, it takes two days for the available glucose to be consumed.
      Two days.
      If you are the fattest person in the world - perhaps three.
      The body requires energy.
      If you don't eat carbs, then it uses it's reserves.
      The reserves can only last for about two days.
      What you experienced was not the symptoms of entering ketosis - the headache and lethargy - you has something else.

      @@johnx9318 That was 8 years ago. The onset of that keto rash was several days after starting keto. It covered the typical areas for keto rash. Therefore, it would have set in After all glucose had been used up. It is known (not to me, at that time) that the rash clears up after consumption of carbs, which confirms my experience.

      @@Frigger20 I wonder what causes this then? Not something I have experienced.
      Been doing this on and off since 1992, and full(ish) time for 6 years.
      Have you managed to get past it and into keto without the rash?

      @@johnx9318 I’ve read about 1 in a dozen gets it when first starting keto, so I guess I just got lucky. Good that you didn’t have to go through it ! Not a pleasant experience. Mine cleared spontaneously and I never had it again. Before ever hearing of keto, I did a water fast of 2 weeks (in hospital). No problem then. However, that one affected my bowels. Keto and subsequent longer fasts (up to 2 weeks) never did. It’s a strange phenomenon indeed.
