    Bruhhh you never disappoint. Same issue I get as trying to be Perfect kicks in the nerves. I get worried that other dj’s might judge my transition.

    This is exactly why I stopped performing in front of a live audience. I couldn’t get over it. I was a week before the gig already nervous. So I figured I’m not that kind of DJ. I’m a hobby dj and that suits me fine. I collect records and give them a spin at home. Not everyone is a professional dj. But perhaps I was too young. Now I am a bit older and I trust my skills a lot more.

      That's part of the fun, the excitement and nervousness. Some pro Djs say the feeling never truly goes away. I like to go live on fb to try and get used to the "pressure". Good luck!!

      Hey Brother you have the experience and the time put in in practice at home you have gained skills and knowledge so why not try to put yourself out there and try a gig or go live...before I did my live gigs in clubs I would do Live shows on social media to kind of get over those nerves and get a little more comfortable having a crowd!!

    DJTLM I know this video is a little older now but I've been learning to DJ for about 6 or 7 months now (always loved the art only bought equipment 7 months ago) but recently played my first party for people I didn't know. I watched this video a couple days before the gig and it helped me so much in just relying on what I've been practicing. You have plenty other videos that have helped as well so keep up the good work. I followed and subscribed to your content everywhere I could as I've started my journey

    i dj in a small cafe in London but everytime before i start i am nervous.It starts when i am getting ready on the day.Once i am a few tunes in i start to relax.It varies in intensity but never to the point of being unable to work.I think anyone that gets up in front of a crowd and performs in any way has to deal with this but if a set goes well the joy afterwards is so worth it

So it feels like a party/audition, because the bar owners will be there. So i was more nervous today than ever before. Im glad you shed some light on this subject. Salute!

    #Dope topic! I think almost everyone has those jitters. Luckily nowadays most of the gigs I do nowadays are in my zone #OlSkool, so usually by the second track, I'm in my element and in my zone, and feed off the crowd. But yeah, with gigs where I play for a new or different crowd that is diverse and different genres, I get nervous about it coz no DJ wants to suck so you worry about keeping the party going. In the beginning it used to break me when I got a slot and the dancefloor would empty while I was playing, hahaha. But yeah, like you say, stick to what you do best, and most importantly read and feed off the crowd.

    DJ TLM. RESPECT! I am a new DJ out of VA. I go by the name of DJ GEE. I'm still practicing and learning The Craft. I had a question that I'm hoping you can do share the knowledge podcast on. The difference between matching bpm's and matching the temple. Is there a difference? I know the song needs to be at least the same BPM or the same range when mixing. But is that it? I get confused if the temple has to be the same to make the right blend. Your help on this will be greatly appreciated.

    • @djTLMtv
      @djTLMtv  5 років тому

      Hi GEE, bpm (beats per minute) is the indication of the tempo. To beatmatch you match the tempo of the two tracks by matching the bpm. Hope that clears it up

    I have been djing for 2 years now. I don't listen to the radio that much anymore and I am finding it a bit difficult to keep up with music new music in all genres. Any tips on how to keep my library updated

    • @djTLMtv
      @djTLMtv  5 років тому +4

      Do you play all genres when you DJ? If not, then only focus on the ones you actually play. If you do play everything, start with the genres you play the most.
      The best things to do to stay up to date is by going to the type of events you would play at (or like to play at) yourself and listen and look. Hear what’s being played and watch how the crowd reacts.
      Looking at the trend/top pages on DJ pools can give you an idea. Follow playlists with new music on Spotify/Tidal, etc.
      If you feel that you need to know what’s new or hot you’ll have to put in the work

    • @vkysmallz1180

      @@djTLMtv Well I do play at some events where I am able to play all genres. Recently I was at a event where there was a dj telling me what genres to play and it kinda threw me off a bit and I felt like I couldn't get into my own groove with someone over my shoulder and he was constantly like can you play new reggae (I have alot of reggae in my library but I have alot of old school reggae) This brings me to a another question have u ever had to deal with people telling you what to play and if you have,how have you handled being in that situation.
