    Whenever I sit down to practice it’s because I wanna go out there and slay some ass and be the best, that’s what pushes me to practice.

    As a DJ, your goal is to become the best DJ, there is a joy in perfecting your skills and you have fun doing it. For me, that is the best reason for recording, to go back and listening to a mix, seeing the highs and lows and improving the mix! That sometimes that is the best high (fun).

    Absolutely the advice you could offer up to the dj community. We dj who have been at.this for more than 15yrs understand the process of growing & enjoying the craft at the same time.

    I am not even close to your level of DJing, but i will always walk into a room and think i am the best one in the room. that is my mindset. I have a lot of fun practicing and making mistakes, makes me better overall and i truly love the process. i really do. Thanks for the video sir.

    Anything that u get excited about when u speak about is your passion even if money isn't the end result to get paid for it is the special sauce.

    You are on the money with this video. I have been DJing for 3 years and the process of it is what I enjoy the most but want to be the best DJ for those who hear me play. I am not a full-time DJ but I take this very seriously. I am always learning and experiencing new ways to enhance my DJ style. When I am not practicing, I listen to various sets from other DJs. I have a monthly radio show as well as playing at a radio station each month. I don't get gigs regularly but I get my mixes out to other radio shows. I played in my city, outside my city, and in Canada so far. Yes. I love the process but I also want to be a good DJ. You can work to have both. It is all about loving what you do.

    I can feel this post a lot. I remember I had Fisher belt driven turntable and dual deck Pioneer tape setup and some vinyl. I wore out Peter Piper by Run DMC doing baby scratches before I even knew what they were called. Then I got to play on a real setup for time ever and it was in front of a crowd because the DJ flaked. Nothing fancy, just straight mixing and blending, but I was on top of the world for about 3 hours. One of most fun experiences of my life at that time. I kind of get what dude might of have been trying to say. These days the pressure is so much greater to better faster. With all of the videos out there, it is kind of a double edge sword. There is lot to learn from, but it also makes you feel like you have to be better so much faster. You tend to forget to have fun with the process.

    I've been a long time subsciber... I enjoy watching/viewing your videos. ... Very educational and relatable. I'm a "hobby" DJ (virtual DJ online)... And find you and your content like a "library" of resources and helpful.... Even though I use DJ software, your knowledge is useful and informative. Thank you for your "channels".

    I have a question. How important is it to learn to scratch? Dont get me wrong, its a great addition to the skills you already learned ie: beat matching, transitioning, blending etc... but really, how important is it if you are a seasoned dj to know how to scratch? What if you just cannot grasp the concept or you just dont have the coordination to be a turntablist? I've been djing for only 12 years, I feel I should've picked scratching up a long time ago and its a little embarrassing when people ask me if I know how to scratch and I gotta say I'm not that kind of dj but in all reality i simply never learned how. What would you tell someone like me that wants to learn it but doesn't have 24/7 to sit and practice everyday? Thank you in advance TLM, I've learned a lot from your videos thank you ❤️✌️💯

    • @djTLMtv
      @djTLMtv  5 років тому +2

      I wouldn’t say it’s important, but I think it’s a great addition if you master the basics.
      If you just learn how to do the baby scratch and maybe a bit of transforming it can completely enhance your sets.
      You don’t have to become a turntablist

    Well said TLM! Even though you love the art of DJing, you have to enjoy the process. I enjoy trying new things while I DJ. It can be another genre (I put together a Techno set) or different way of transiting one track to another or even making a mistake. When I do at home, I get upset for I want my set to flow. When I play out and their a mistake, I have to make certain I mask it and keep it moving. I totally agree. I love the process but I want to improve and get better everytime I'm on the decks.

    Aloha! I really enjoy your channel! I am brand new to DJing and about to but my first set up. I need some guidance. Turntables is the path for me. The dilemma i have is, do I go with technics(feels like a required rite of passage) or do I go with those new rane 12's and a 72?? Keep in mind, this is purely for my enjoyment and if i get to a point where I can do something more with DJing, then i will cross that bridge when it comes. The rane seems like I will have more options music wise right out the gate. But paying homage to the ones who started this evolution seems important as well. That is where I am at, excited about this, but i want to make the right choice. Any guidance you can offer will be greatly appreciated! Mahalo!

    These days becoming the best dj means nothing. The sync button saw to that...If you already know how the structure of 4 to the floor works which is really easy to understand....then all you do is press sync and EQ a little and throw in the odd FX andn you an be a pro pretty much straight out of the box, noone cares about the old skool way anymore , and no matter wha you use a computer has reduced it to something people see as talentless. DJ's have always had a tough time being recognised as having any skill, even some producers look down their noses at DJ's because we just play other peoples music ....artform dead is my verdict

    Hi Dj TLM I've been following you for years, you have been my mentor. I have a little problem...Am dj deeflex from Nigeria, a Guinness award winning dj. dj_deeflex is my instagram handle pictures of my award are there to confirm. I won the award in 2015 and since then I've been struggling to come to lime light. What do you think i'm not doing right? I get paid little money for gigs even club managers seems to pay little cash. What do you think i have to do to bring me back to limelight?

    • @djTLMtv
      @djTLMtv  5 років тому +1

      It’s hard for me to say because I have no idea what you have been doing since you won that award. And I do ‘t know how things work in Nigeria so it would be pretty hard for me to give you advice right now
