Hank Jr was incredibly talented. A terrific songwriter, great musician (and not just on guitar). His talent was awesome. He played this one so effortlessly. Pure country when he wanted to be, more progressive at other times. His daddy should be proud.
Country Music Lineage, three generations worth!!! Hank, Sr., fantastic for his day and time, without the help of these studios that have so many bells and whistles and can actually make an average singer sound really good!! Hank, Jr. Voice started maturing early, like 16,17 and it just got better and better, until the bottom fell out( literally). Awash in many, personal problems, he headed out west thinking that would help him get back on track. Would have, but wasn't meant to be. Fell 500 feet down Ajax peak and nearly died. Many surgeries later, Hank got back on stage in early '76 and never looked back. Platinum, Gold is what followed and continues to this day!! Hank111, has had some success, but has many years left in , so his story will be an interesting one to see play out!!!
His success is his own but he was a devoted son and a lot of his greatness and his creation. And his music was. In tribute to his daddy no question So really his songs are a victory to him and his father in trying to. Cope and explain the unique. Position he was in. After hank Sr died. Was a monumental struggle to get it all into words. Gonna sing the blues Gotta pay your dues
You’ve got to be kidding me. You people are comparing two greats. Not to mention they’re from different musical eras. You should be ashamed of yourselves.
Hank Sr was good but bocephus blew him out of the water that's how good he is seen him 3 times not hard to see why he is a 5 time entertaining of the year winner
If you pay attention to Hank Jr's evolution, and his father's it's pretty clear he pretty much ended up where his father would have if he hadn't died so young. Some of Hanks last recordings sound quite a lot like Hank jr's recordings vocally, and it's a style / timing thing and not just a matter of Hank Jr's slight vocal differences. It's like he picked up where his father left off. Hank JR sure is great, but I believe you can't really say he's outright better than his father because he's had a 60+ year career while Hank had maybe 10 before he died and you can see that he was headed down the same path in music that Hank JR took.
@@TylerSnyder305I’d agree with you, plus Hank senior started his early career trying to mimick Roy Acuff and Ernest Tubb, and later on he found his own voice. Hank Jr found his own voice like his dad did.
Its not a case , so much, of one being better than the other, rather , it was the times they were active in their recording career's. Personally, i think Jr.'s vocals had a much broader range than his dad's, but studios had a lot more technology stacked into them when Jr. came along! All three Hank's were fantastic in their own right!!
I'm not trying to say that the person who posted this video is wrong, I very well myself could be wrong however I do pride myself on being a Hank Williams Jr. historian. The beard and the glasses in 1976. I have his Hank Williams Jr and Friends album and he in fact does look like this on the cover. However I'm thinking that they released the album after the mountain fall in 75. I was thinking that he took 2 years off and didn't grow the beard out and wear the glasses until 77. I've always been a bit confused about this. If I'm wrong somebody please correct me. But I was thinking this might have been 1977.
Style and sensebility changed plenty from hank Sr time to the way itd become so saying he is better is a false comparison Just cuz assault rifles are super duper powerful doesn't eclipse the innovation of the revolver from single shooters Aint nothing more reliable than a wheel gun
I miss America, so I watch these videos just to remember what we once had when we were free!
Being a NATIVE SOUTHERNER, He was the teenage HERO of my wild and crazy youth......... God bless you Hank
Yaaa he got me n a lot of trouble lol…..
Love you Hankie! If you only knew just how you were my favorite. You’re one of my dreams.

Nobody in country music ever could put on a rowdy show like he could
Hank jr is a living legend and a icon .. nobody comes close to him .. he's as real as they come thats why he is the #1 artist and thats forever
Hank Jr is just like his father a musical genius.......
Hank Jr's greatest hits album is without doubt one of the best Country Albums I have ever listened to .
Singing good for a guy still recovering from a five hundred foot mountain fall.
He's the real deal.
Yes he is

Post-Ajax Hank
He's great.
This is a ICON and he maybe better than Hank SR.
Who is your dealer, I want some of whatever you're smoking. I love Bocephus, but nobody is close to Hank Sr.
@@zachmartin1458 Hank Williams the 3rd sounds like his grandfather when he sings his grandfather's songs
@@MomMom-kc4ee hank Jr's song are not as good hank Sr was a better writer

They are both legends in they’re own right..Sr’s career was cut short, Jr has had a longer career..it’s not a fair comparison either way
A year or so after his fall
He fell August 1975
Aug 8th
And he still had surgeries after that. Bocephus is a walking miracle.

blows Sr out of the water? thats some bold ass logic right there
Hank Jr better than Hank Sr ? Whatever you are smokin', I'd like to have some too 😂
his shows in the 70s and 80s were better than they are now. but still great
I love Hank Jr, and this is my favorite song by him (he has a lot of songs that I love, but I really like this one), in fact, I love all three Hank's.
