You got good subscribers already on top of what I was going to point out. Don't give those lifters & springs any sympathy. Beat 'em like a red-headed step... primary tube.
Yep, just went out and checked lol I wish I had a good excuse for missing that massive hole in the side of the intake lol even while editing I didn't notice it 🤦♂️
@SniderTron3000 I think Derek use to call gas Kickapoo Juice. There used to be gas stations called Kickapoo. Referred to as Kickapoo Juice. There was an Indian Chief on the sign.
It's 2° F in Arkansas this morning. I know in Michigan that is normal at times but how cold is it today there? No machines I work with like cold weather. The commuter airlines I contracted to in New Hampshire would pull aircraft in with 50 squaks and just getting them warmed up usually eliminated most of them.
@@SniderTron3000 I hope those cam lobes are actually only lifting the valves .585" off the seat and not over .600" like Powell Machine showed. If that's happening, the lifters and valve seals are taking a beating and that could be that noise. i''ve got my fingers cross for ya!
Huge hole in your intake from the egr lol. If you watch th video you can see it shoot flames out the big hole by the throttle body on the passenger side.
Yeah I noticed the EGR port open when you were trying to start it the first time. But it's ALIVE! thanks for the update. Can't wait to see more progress on the series.
That was Bang zoom to the moon. but Death? Have some faith man. There's plenty of roads that will need a good oil down in the spring. sorry that was comment bait. 🤣🤣🤣
I thought for sure when you cranked it she was going to sit there and idle like it was suppose to I know you did a bunch of ls swaps but anyway she runs good deal I hope you have a merry Christmas rick427
Dope build , did a 5.3 swap to my 91 deleting power steering as you did seems to be really good at hoola-hooping the belt off on a high rpm pull, tried a new tensioner same issue. Reading up on it the remedy is a ict billet manual tensioner. Cool channel and keep up the good work
Hey man I got a question where did you get the extended yolk at I’m in need of one for mine Ik you mentioned it in videos but not find it now TIA keep rockin from GR
At about 16:05 mark I see a flame blow out there left/passenger side of the throttle body, maybe intake? Could definitely be a vacuum leak. Glad to see it fire up though!
Also, I bought an Optima Yellowtop for $400 about 5 years ago and I used it in my 1997 Honda Civic coupe with a fully built LSVTEC turbo that makes 709 whp, and now it's in my 2004 Acura TL with a six speed manual swap and a GT3582R. It still works like a champ. I thought it was bad for a long time, but turns out there was nothing wrong with it.
Then you’re lucky because newer optima’s suck, my 93 t100 always had a red top, and one day, I got tired of how slow it cranked, so I dropped in a diehard AGM and recently dropped one in my 03 Silverado. Idk what’s been going on with red tops, but I do know I ain’t abusing it.
Damn Josh I hate it when you have too have 2 people to pop the hood it never fails when I'm ready to pop the hood the 2nd person (helper to pop hood) is never really ready to help even with such a simple an easy task pulling the hood pop so you can open the hood lol so even if you have to drill a 2"-5" hole all the way threw the hood if removing the hood bracing/ webbing doesn't work is definitely the way to go
What's with the flames coming out of the passenger side intake area? I don't know anything about LS engines but that doesn't seem right. Some kind of exhaust leak or a missing EGR valve? IDK you tell me...Keep up the good work, this thing will be pulling 12's in no time.
So I know everyone pointed out the egr thing, but you are also missing a line on the fuel pressure regulator at the driver side fuel rail. Might have something to do with the sound you were hearing before you started it. Take a close look at it and you'll see the two spots where the line goes
Hey man! I’m sure you know better than I do… but I heard you’re never supposed to block that plate off down by the filter… not sure why but I know I hear it on like engine masters or something… may be worth looking into…
I wasn't gonna block it off, its an oil passage. I was gonna make a plate to seal it but allow the oil to still circulate through it. I did a bad job of explaining that in the video lol
Hell yeah Josh not the best first start but like you mentioned for 2-3 weeks buld definitely it's a pretty darn good start-up and I'm glad it was tranny fluid instead of oil.. you mentioned valve springs.. I can't remember what you said was wrong with the cam if one of the lines was messed up and you emailed them about replacement or refund not sure if that problem is related to your thoughts or questions of if the valve springs snapped/broke just wanted to remind you
Also want to say thanks for this video series, it has been very motivating. I am in the middle of swapping a 93 short bed reg cab and it's just about there. 5.3 with an nv3500 5 speed. I swapped a blazer in the past with the same engine and trans and did it for under 3k. There's a few videos of it on my channel I'd you want to check it out
Heck yea bro good job 👏🏼. I got mine to fire too. Fuid, timing and adjusting the rod for the column shifter. It's tapping the driver's side header. Shoot that's pretty buch it . Killer content 👌🏼
Also might want to put a vac line on the fuel pressure regulator... I love the whole budget build thing, but it would kill me not to clean up all the grease and junk... it makes it so much nicer every time you got to work on it...
Bro I commented back when you got the headers to go ahead and do the starter before you installed the headers 🤣 I know exactly what you went through haha
Man, I ALWAYS wanted to do something similar to this with my 1990 S-10 with an Iron Duke and a 5 speed manual, but LS engines didn't exist back then, so it was either a 350 Vortec or a LT1. I bought it for $800 in perfect condition with a new paint job, 40,000 original miles, (but it had a R title) and I sold it for a 1989 Honda CRX and $1500 cash. This video makes me nostalgic about what I wanted to do with it. I remember I had to pull the engine and trans to put a new clutch and flywheel in it, but it also needed a new oil pan gasket, so two birds one stone.
You got a compression leak brother. You can hear it while cranking the very first time you did. Should be consistent sound during cranking. If you are using gm pcm, hold gas pedal to floor (before cranking) turn key to crank, which shuts off injectors while cranking, listen to engine crank over
Please god don't use 1/8" plate to block oil cooler on the pan, you'll block oil flow to block entirely. You need something similar to ls1, that uses crossover between those two ports, to allow oil flow
After years of cussing starters i have come to the conclusion. They a'int no easy way for one person to do it. With 2 people it's easy. Just say hey can you put that starter on for me.
Fact checked comment. You can actually go faster for cheaper with an amazon built late 90s vortec 350 turbo build or a vortec 4200 turbo build .LS shit is soo fuckin expensive
I've been staring at this truck for a month and never noticed the EGR port was open hahaha 🤦♂️ thanks fellers lol
It happens
An extra set of eyes always helps. Love your videos 👊

I was like what the hell lol wondering how small that dump pipe was 🤣🤣🤣
I've been yelling at you but you didn't hear me. Lol
Dude at 16:30 I seen FIRE up on the Intake Play that shit back n watch that was that POOF sound Come On
That driver side has COPD restricted lungs LOL. I've been there brother have to do what you got to do in a pinch
Merry Christmas Josh!
Merry Christmas to you and Papatron!
I think Derek calls oil dead dinosaurs
All the big dawgs with 300k subs puttn out vids and this channel is all I thought about waiting to hear this shit box 🏎️
This whole time I been thinking it was a blazer 😂😂😂💀💀💀
Merry Christmas

Good job brother she's aliiiiive 👍🏼😁
I noticed a little poof around 16:05 behind the throttle body. Intake leak?
Small backfire out the vacuum port to the valve cover
@@SniderTron3000 it was backfiring out the egr port homie that’s a huge vacuum leak.that’s why u are Erving to the sky

I just got my fuel pump replaced in my S10 today not goes forwards and backwards and I'm thrilled.
Got all the dinosaur nutrients LOL

The commuter airlines I contracted to in New Hampshire would pull aircraft in with 50 squaks and just getting them warmed up usually eliminated most of them.
When you 1st cranked the engine over, you had 2 small flames and a puff of some coming out at the back left side of the TB. Watch your video again.
It's alive!!! Glad to see it making some noise!
Making some noise for sure haha
@@SniderTron3000 I hope those cam lobes are actually only lifting the valves .585" off the seat and not over .600" like Powell Machine showed. If that's happening, the lifters and valve seals are taking a beating and that could be that noise.

Ooooo. Not another ls swap. Lol
Huge hole in your intake from the egr lol. If you watch th video you can see it shoot flames out the big hole by the throttle body on the passenger side.
I've been staring at this truck for a month and never noticed that was open hahaha 🤦♂️
@@SniderTron3000 And the flame out the intake could just be from being lean, or there is something off in the ignition timing.
Yeah I noticed the EGR port open when you were trying to start it the first time. But it's ALIVE! thanks for the update. Can't wait to see more progress on the series.
I have a set of stainless longtube headers for a ls s10
Oh legit? Where are you located?
I'll bet that noise was air evacuating the lines. Unless you have an open vac port.
Josh hell yes sir been waiting on the first start video of the ole down and dirty dime Ole Dozen can't wait to comment thru out the video
Block off that egr
I've been staring at this truck for a month and never noticed that was open hahaha 🤦♂️
EGR port on the intake is wide open 😂
Yeah I noticed that too.
Sure the fuck is! Lol
Can you build me a hot side for a gbody?😂 I was waiting on you to eventually turbo your Monte Carlo but it disappeared must’ve missed that video
Im pretty sure that oil needs to get from one side to the other, even the factory block-offs allow it to crossover
I came to the comments to see if somebody mentioned that, I was under the impression it had to circulate back through.
Hey Josh. Your egr port is open on the intake.
Now I got to figure out what's wrong with my four wheel drive sounds like more parts.
What size belt did you end up using? Looking to do that exact same belt routing on my 6.0 swap. Love the channel !
That’s gotta be white stripe’s during the montage
That was Bang zoom to the moon. but Death? Have some faith man. There's plenty of roads that will need a good oil down in the spring.
sorry that was comment bait. 🤣🤣🤣
Lol now that 500 people have told me "hey, dummy! The egr port is wide open!" I think it'll be okay. I am worried it bent a rod though but 🤷♂️
vacuum leak at throttle body 16:20
Yep, I left the EGR port wide open lol
Awesome brother good job
How do you go about tuning?
Kind of trial and error lol
Hell yeah buddy. That's awesome
I assume you got a deal on the optima battery because thats not budget friendly
It came out of a scrap car like 2 years ago and I used it in the RX7 for 2 years and kept it when I got rid of that
Very nice! Ever figure out what those wheels are on the truck?

Cool channel and keep up the good work
Also unless your using a dif fuel pressure regulator yours needs some vacuum
What is a ballpark figure for parts? Just curious what your cheap is compared to mine. Thanks enjoy your videos
With the cost of the truck, it was in the neighborhood of $3,000
What harness did you use ?
Hey man I got a question where did you get the extended yolk at I’m in need of one for mine Ik you mentioned it in videos but not find it now TIA keep rockin from GR
I got it from Speedway
@@SniderTron3000 thank you sir much appreciated
And it sounds like you're low on compression on at least one cylinder. Might just need to get some oil pressure to the lifters.
Probably the one with a bent rod lol
Sounds mean!😂
Lol sounds something
Oh yeah, compression sounded nice and all over the place when you turned it over before starting it lol.
Definitely sounded funny and hell yeah it is cold out

Might not hurt to plug that MASSIVE vacuum leak on the old EGR port…
Did you scroll past my pinned comment about that just to add another comment and ensure I feel stupid? Lol
