  • What’s new at Sephora? As we edge ever closer to Fall, the items I’m sharing today are the new Patrick Ta foundation & powder compact, the Fenty Eaze Drop’Lit primer and the Merit Signature Lipstick. The look I’m creating autumnal and a little out of my typical comfort zone. The challenge was to create a look that didn’t overshadow the bold lip - I think we managed!

Ok, so I think I know why HLP loves this but it’s not so much your vibe. HLP lives in that messy makeup, angry eyes, splink splink lashes zone. You live in the watercolor with purpose fjords zone. This lip is an angry eyes partner. Not a veiled blush vibe.

I was really interested in the point you made in the lipstick segment about some people's features lending themselves more easily to blurring versus some people needing precise lines. I have often felt something similar but couldn't describe it. If you ever feel like exploring this topic more in-depth, I would totally be into it.

I’m not a lipstick wearer on a daily basis but I’m a merit lipstick target demographic 🤣 I love tints and blotting my lipsticks since in real life I don’t like a full coverage lipstick… so, they are favorites but they do not have to be for everyone 🙌🏻 I have 4 and I wear them so much !

It was refreshing to hear a different opinion on the Merit lipstick formulation. Thank-you for continuing to be real no matter the general consensus! I really wanted to love them, but the formula just wasn’t for me no matter how many times I tried it. I felt like the formula was lightweight in the sense that it felt weirdly thin, and therefore sat on my lips in an incredibly odd manner. I also didn’t feel like they were very moisturizing even though they’re made with a variety of skin loving oils. To each their own however, and that’s part of the beauty of makeup. I do however think that the shade was stunning on you! I love the way it complimented your entire outfit - headband and all.

Charlotte Tilbury is kind of a meme for me. Just add the keywords "Perfection" "Hollywood" "Flawless" "Finish" "Glowy" "Hydrating" to any phrase and there you go, you have a CT commercial with the same colors and same style as 5 years ago. Another day another shade of glittery rosy neutral pink.

I've been using the Patrick Ta foundation for a week now and I must say, I prefer applying it with a damp sponge. It makes it look way better and not at all makeup-y. I tried applying it with a brush and had to press it in with the sponge to make it look the way I wanted. I also find that using my fingers to pick up the product gives me more control on how much I use and I can always add a tad more to areas that need more coverage. I've been setting it with my regular setting powder as I did not like the powder it came with. Honestly, I'm very happy with it, but my Covergirl age rewind cream foundation (in the round compact) is even better and way less expensive! Not sure why no one ever talks about this foundation! It's sooooo good and has been a staple for years! (If you're reading this, go get it NOW!! 🗣️) As for the Merit lipsticks... I'm with you!! The packaging is beautiful, but that was it for me! 😂

I fully agree with you about the merit lipsticks. I bought 1990 based on the hype as well as the fact that it’s a less crusty/more moisturizing version of Leo by Glossier. But honestly? I have buildable and balmy lips I like better from, literally, Revlon.

The Patrick Ta kinda reminds me of old school cream foundations used in film/tv, like the RCMA palettes? I feel as though that’s what some of these makeup artist brands are driving at, taking products that professionals have been using for years and whacking them in sleeker rose-gold packaging and selling them to regular consumers?

When I first got the Merit lipsticks I was not a fan. I felt like they were too in-between. Over the past several months I’ve totally changed my mind, mainly because I’ve noticed over time that they’re the most nourishing lipsticks I have for my dry lips. It’s surprised me because it doesn’t feel moisturizing when first applied. I just noticed over time that the days I wore it, my lips felt better. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It’s now become my daily lip balm stand-in.

Dude I thought I’d gone mad not liking the merit lipstick much. Unfortunately I’m obsessed with the color Tiger and I struggle to find warm browns like that (I pretty much only look good in the warmest of warm things), so we may be stuck with it until thrive or kosas carry something like that. But same as you, I feel like I have to keep fussing and fussing with it. I found that the Sugar tinted lip balm in plum does everything I wanted from L’avenue but waaaay better. It’s actually hydrating for real, it’s actually sheer enough that I get get away with the purple, and I can actually forget about it and let it wear out without wondering what’s happening on my face.

I really like the Merit lipsticks but it is true that I put quite a bit of it on, like several swipes. You've definitely talked me out of buying the Fashion one since it would be way too bright on me if applied that thickly. I mostly use Millennial (which seems a little mauve to me) and Baby, sometimes 1990 or Slip. The Slip did break all the way down at the base almost immediately, even though I hardly extended it at all and was being gentle, but I have managed to repair it.

I can apply the honest beauty tinted lip balm in the car without looking in a mirror and as it wears off, it leaves the slightest tint. It’s incredible. You won’t be sorry.

The shade I got is quite dark and u have to baby sit it cuz it just migrates and slides around and looks super messy ; I thought I was just me and I know I can blot it but I want full color opacity cuz blotted it just looks pink🤨I will be returning it for sure and like you I’m shocked of all the amazing reviews

I like the colors of the Merit lipsticks, and the formula works well for me, but I don't think it's anything groundbreaking. To me the thing it most reminds me of is, like, a slightly less firm version of the original Glossier Generation G lipsticks. It's fine.

My main problem with athleisure, casual & capsule dressing is exactly the same, it's difficult to find the right silhouettes in neutrals that aren't black, white, taupe, navy or grey. I'm a spring/autumn with soft coloring & I end up leaning heavily into Loden & Plum as my neutrals in the Fall since finding warm, golden browns in athleisure is almost impossible. It's still a bit of a compromise but as close as I can get to olive & aubergine.

Hello Kackie, I had to to respectfully unsubscribe a while ago because I found myself a little too tempted to buy everything you like (I think it may have been the slight hyperbole that you explained in today's video) but I've still been watching so many of your videos and let me tell you. Today I had to resubscribe, wallet be dammned. This video was supreme. The hot takes on Harry Styles, and Charlotte Tillbury were so accurate that I trust your take on the merit Lipsticks 100% now.
The demo of how a brush dies, the commentary on the foundation, the discussion on fall fashion goals, THE LIPSTICK APPLICATION SONG.

As a "True Autumn" - whatever that means to others - the only 2 shades I've been able to wear are 1990 and L'Avenue. I love the formula and it's the first lipstick brand I've been into for quite a while even after trying the LE lipsticks. Admittedly though, Ribbon is just not my shade and I might like the formula more if it was.

I have too much makeup in general, including lipsticks, which is not logical because all lipsticks, glosses, balms disappear in the first 5 minutes of use…so, not extremely practical for me at work..also, it just gets on my masks…and then my slight ocd wants to launch it into the sun…

@@TG-jp3tc Unfortunately the story OW spun about firing Shia turned out to be not true, seeing as she was actively trying to *keep* him on the production and throwing Florence under the bus to do so (it sucks but what can you do, he's not in it and that's good enough for me). Unfortunately, Shia kept impeccable receipts and released them maybe a week before the premiere, so it didn't look good at all that OW was adamant that she fired him for that reason and it turned out that she never fired him at all🤷🏾‍♀️
