    I don't think GM's get outdated quickly, but the problem is the fact many of them are piloted by new and inexperienced pilots, and the fact they fight against extremely experienced pilots with years of knowledge, that's basically what happened on the Battle of Torrington

    • @gundamfacts
      @gundamfacts  Рік тому +20

      I agree for Torrington, but it's generally established GMs age badly. In F91, we see Jegans performing good strategies (like luring the enemy to their ship, or hiding behind each others to make it look like they are only one MS) yet get bodied hard by the enemy because their tech got outdated. Meanwhile we have 30 years old Zakus still kicking asses around.

    But nobody outlasts the zaku 1! Zakus out lasted the timeline according to Turn A, not even a replica of a gm to be found, the MS-05 and MS-06 made it but not any RGMs. I salute you, forgotten brothers, even enemies deserve to be remembered.

      I would point out Turn A timeline is NOT after UC. Turn A is specifically a what if timeline that while having similar features is outright stated to not be UC. @@KiryuLegion Ok so how I put it is technically not correct. It is much more convoluted and migraine inducing. As Correct century has direct references to mutually exclusive events and much more. In series there are direct references to UC and pretty much every timeline up to that point. But as said many of these events cannot exist concurrently. In the end no one really knows where to put it as. And according to some staff leaks apparently even Tomino didn't know how to fit it. In the end most Gundam fans I know of just consider Correct Century to be doing its own thing.
      So yeah I was over simplifying it as Correct century is a nightmare from a lore perspective. Great story and design but you will go crazy trying to make it fit into a timeline. Heck some of the theories for it is that something like The Elder Scrolls Dragon Break occurred. Where all events are simultaneously true and false. You know just to add more migraine fuel.

    I feel there's probably some sort of commentary on the development method of the Federation AE versus other factions. Feds will build high end prototype and then dumb it down for mass production. Meanwhile Zeon, AEUG, and even some Titans tend to develop their Mobile Weapons with production in mind, later customizing for their aces. Obviously there are many exceptions with NewType weapons, but for grunts, they were designed to perform well as mass production rather than cutting corners on the effective prototype.
    Even the Jegan had the superior Jeddah as it's predecessor.
    The Jesta being far superior to the Gustav Karl is yet another case when cheap designs win out with the Feds.

    • @trollinoakenshield9822

      Thats Zeon btw who keep making super prototype that ends up wasting their resources and strain their supply line. Feds since OYW always focused on ease of mass production like real world military would do.
      Btw jeddah have inferior armor than regular jegan while also expensive to make. Also Jesta never compete with gustav karl, jesta is intended as spec ops MS while gustav karl is an MP MS specialized for under gravity.

    Honestly, I like the concept the RGM series has. It's best exemplified in Gundam Unicorn. ReZel, Jegan, Gustav Karl, Jesta, Anksha, GM and Nemo. All branches of a single line share a certain number of parts across branches. Lowering production costs and increasing ease of maintenance. I would honestly believe that the Jesta could be fitted with older parts from a Jegan and still work. I am pretty confident that Zeon did not have that level of parts compatibility between their major MS lines. Besides the Zaku and Gouf.

      Probably not cause the jegans got wrecked pretty bad against the stupid crossbone vanguard mobile suits. Honestly with the performance behind the zeon remnants during the battle of Torrington, how bad the Jegans got wrecked hard not mainly cause they were outdated mobile suits, but more so cause of the pilots, even with newer mobile suits, which even then they did have, the federation pilots just looked so incompetent compared to the crossbone vanguard and got wrecked hard, giving a vibe of they got wrecked cause of plot, which tends to be the main reason for most gms in general.

      @@MusicFan752 Shrug. While the Jegans got their butts kicked throughout the F91 movie they still had some standout moments. For example, the one scene where we had a team of Jegans that managed to retreat from a team of Vanguard Mobile Suits in good order after a brief fight between the two groups. Also I think there was one very minor scene where we got a Jegan destroying a Vanguard machine but I do not remember where that happens to be but I know its somewhere during the couple major fleet battles of the movie. Then we got the prequel mangas to the movie, there is one Jegan variant, the Fireball I think, that manages to do something before eventually get damaged. The Heavyguns did a bit better during the battle. Though I do see why they where not included in the list as while they managed to do okay during the F91 movie they later get their butts kicked during Victory Gundam in the form of the M5 variant.

It wouldn’t be so bad if they would at least get a couple of wins over the crossbone vanguard mobile suits with the jegans alone, but I guess that wouldn’t happen unless you’re the MC for F91.

    I don't know much or remember much about the Jamesgun and Javelin. While I had a good impression of the Javelin, it is the one late UC GM which I felt deserved to be potrayed in a better light, I always thought it was badass that it had the shot lancer like weapon and I completely forgot it had a lot of verniers on the outside which is something I love on mobile suits as a design choice.
    For the GM II I like it for being so customizable but sadly it wasn't very badass. The GM III I love even more and I freaking love it that it is an absolute badass even up in late UC, really shows how capable and customizable it is.

    Everyday I pray for a GM Spartan kit

  • @ZeonicFenrir
    @ZeonicFenrir Рік тому

    Some of these examples sound a bit “questionable”, but let me point which ones I have doubts about:
    -The GM Quel doing well against Zeon Remnants & pirates should be unsurprising, the opposite would be the odd scenario. Which being some to ask: what did Themis used their GM Quels against? (Haven't read the MSV-R manga)
    -The GM Spartan also sounds a bit too much “pick and choose from your part”, and I mean in the 0087 opponents department: for all we know it may have had to fight more Marine Hizacks or some other outdated EF/captured Zeon MS, not to mention the Hizacks or even the GM Quel from the 5th place, rather than the Marasai, which during a many parts of the series seems only available in limited numbers, the Asshimar which only had a production run of around 20 units or the even rarer Gaplant.
    -No problem with GM III.
    -For the Javelin, and I will have to rewatch Victory for later examples, off the top of my head I recall that the EF deploys a fleet of 6 ships against Keilas Guillie (3 Clops & 3 Salamis Kai). Given that the Javelin is mostly used in space, I think we can safely assume that most of their MS are Javelins, which seems further proved by the fact that by the time Chronicle Asher arrived in his Tomliat only 1 ship & by the time they surrender only 3 Javelins seem to be left. This means that we could safely assume that 27 Javelins were shut down (Clop can carry 6 MS & Salamis Kai 4 MS). However, we do know that in Zeta it was a common practice to carry more MS than your ship can support for major operations, the rule of the thumb I see most commonly thrown around being 50% more. Therefore we could assume that this fleet could have brought as many as 45 Javelins, from which only 3 survived: that's a survival rate of only 6.67% in this battle... which sounds abysmal.
    -I will also have to rewatch Victory for making any comments on the Jamesgun, but 2 things come to mind right now: Katerina "sparing" the Jamesgun could be due to many reasons, going from Katerina having been a MS pilot for a short time still by that point, to her assuming that the Jamesgun wouldn't be a threat. I do have a major concern about the other part you mentioned: I had the impression that Pippinden's units were some of the first Tomliats deployed, which if being the case, means that the window for Gomez to have engaged them in the african campaign before being reassigned to Europe is very small. I'm even inclined to think that the African suppression Tomliats were assigned to that front as a response to the achievements of the AAAA Team & League Militaire. Also, the U.C. 0153 MSV handbook 1 mentions that the defeat of the Bespa african forces was the result of the joint attacks between the EF's AAAA Team, the League Militaire's nocturnal assault team and their Bluebird Team. If at the time the LM forces were already using the Gun-EZ, I would be more inclined to think that those may have been more instrumental towards their victory over the AAAA Team's Jamesguns.

    • @gundamfacts
      @gundamfacts  Рік тому +2

      I agree with most of these but there are two things I want to point out.
      - the Keilas Guilee Battle is a bad example, it was more of a ratgag group of light cruisers going against the best command ships of Zanscare (Squid-class), and they still held their own for a bit. During the Battle of Angel Halo, like 80% of the Feds fleet is made of Javelins (excluding the Vs and V2, Gunblasters, GunEZ and some captured Gedlav) and they literally annihilate each other with the Zanscare Fleet which by that point is mostly made of their third gen machines. It's a draw, yes but still.
      - the MSV indicates the Four A and their Jamesgun stopped the invasion forces on their own, when the League Militaire backed them with the GunEZ Ground Type of the Bluebirds, Zanscare was defeated at Kilimanjaro and the invasion was called off.

    • @ZeonicFenrir
      @ZeonicFenrir Рік тому +1

      @@gundamfacts You won't believe what I found while checking again the battle between the EF and the Keilas Guilie fleet!
      First some context: At the start of the battle it seems that only 2 Squids and 2 Amalthea class are intercepted by the 6 EF ships in episode 14: 1 Squid towing the main body of Keilas Guilie, 1 towing an accelerator and the 2 Amalthea class towing the other accelerator, we see these from at least 2 angles, though the ships are shown shrouded as not to properly shown them until the next episode. The EF attacks first, but by the end of the sequence, 1 of the Salamis Kai is sunk. By episode 15, 2 more Amalthea class have arrived to reinforce the Zanscare side, while the EF side is down to a single Clop class... or so I thought, since I caught glimpse of what seems to be an animation error: when Chronicle fires his flare from on top the Clop bridge, we see the flare rising alongside the Zanscare Fleet in a very fast sequence, but when I slowed it down to check the classes of the ships I noticed... a third Squid class ship towing the second accelerator! Or more accurately, we see 3 Squid class in the same scene, each towing a different part of Keilas Guilie. Both Squids towing accelerators are drawn slightly different, one being closer to the screen than the other, so it doesn't seem that someone just copy pasted the same ship twice, unlike the 2 Amalthea class ships in the same scene.
      I further reviewed the scene and noticed that the other accelerator isn't shown elsewhere in the battle, nor the 4 Amalthea ships seem to be having cables for doing so. Earlier in the battle we hear that Tassilo Valgo has "started another battle", so perhaps we are seeing 2 different battles in sequence, and in between them the 2 Amalthea class ships towing the accelerator stopped doing so and the 3rd Squid arrived to reinforce them, assuming defense of the accelerator instead. Either that, or the initial EF fleet barrage was successful than we thought and damaged one or even both of the Amalthea class towing the accelerator, in which case the 3rd Squid was called to tow it instead of them. I had always thought only 2 Squid class were built, both being sunk during the war, but perhaps now we have an excuse for where the one that supposedly appears in Turn A Gundam (turned into a palace) could have come from.
      Back to the original topic, while I'm willing to consider that any Javelins destroyed inside their Salamis Kai mothership sunk at the start of the fleet battle would not be indicative of their performance, unfortunately we are into shown enough to fully assume that no MS launched prior to the destruction of the Salamis Kai, specially considering that the EF fleet is the one that began the battle and were more likely ready to deploy them, an idea further reinforced by the fact that they made a initial barrage and then stopped firing, at which time the Zanscare forces begin to fire back at them.The opposite case would be the aforementioned Amalthea class towing the accelerator: I find it more likely that if they were sunk early in the battle (during the EF's opening barrage for example), their MS could have been not ready to sortie and could have gone down with them.
      I also spotted what seems to be a 4th surviving Javelin, one that is close to the Clop after Chronicle destroys the bridge of the Clop, and likely didn't have time to join the other 3 Javelins fighting next to a Squid class. These 4 plus the 2 destroyed on screen actually accounts for the standard 6 MS a Clop class can carry, which do points towards these ships carrying their standard MS capacity, in which case I would still say that they brought 30 MS total, out of which 4 survived, so 13.3% survival rate. If I give the benefit of the doubt that the EF was too disorganized and they failed to launch the Javelins of the Salamis Kai sunk early in the battle, that's still only a survival rate of 15.38% of units that may have actually been deployed. For further context, we see 4 Zoloats in the same battle, 1 of which is destroyed on screen. On further thought, we do see rather few Zoloats for the amount of Zanscare ships, makes me wonder if those towing Keilas Guilie parts may have not been carrying any MS in order to do so more efficiently. Alternatively, most of which we do see seem to be hanging around the Keilas Guilie parts, so perhaps they are mostly focused on defending those rather than defending the ships or attacking the EF fleet.
      Either way, I frankly don't see the problem with such scenario: we are told that early on the Zoloat did gave the Zanscare an advantage against the EF's forces, so this seems match such claims. I'm more concerned about the performance of the so called 3rd gen machines: we see about 22 MS using Einrads unable to shoot down the damaged Reinforce Jr. (we see the trails of these as they launch & surround the ship) before it can ram the Adrastea class ship, which for me always spoke very poorly of their actual performance. Made them sound more efficient at moving & protecting themselves, but at the expense of actually being able to deal damage to the enemy.
      Anyway, I'll have to rewatch the later episodes to give more impressions of the Javelin in later battles.
      If there's other info confirming that the AAAA team managed to achieve those results on their own, I'm fine to accept that. I do am still left wondering if the do fought Tomliats given the timing as I pointed out (9 Tomliats first arrive on Earth on episode 7 & Gomez first appears in episode 11). The MSV Handbook I mentioned also indicates that the Tomliats deployed to Africa used Lagraine base as its center, so that further reinforces the notion that Pippinden's units are the first ones, the base MS forces previously consisting of 39 Zolos (a graph is shown with their team assignments) and some test models like the Shokew and Godzorla. If the AAAA team earned fame on an initial battle and then went to participate in a second operation with the LM, before having Gomez reassigned to Europe, that further complicates things. I do am kind of disappointed that if Gomez is such a good pilot, he never gets to show it in the series, but I guess I'll have to scratch that to being a retcon added after the series had already aired.
      But this leads me to ask another question: how early was the Zollidia deployed? IIRC, in the anime we don't start seeing them until the Motorad fleet enters the scene. I was left with the impression that they weren't deployed until that point, specially considering that they lacked a beam rotor for moving around on Earth more efficiently. The beam rotor itself was tested on a Zoloat, so that seems to further point towards the Zollidia being introduced later.
      Lastly, I saw that in episode 7 the combat bikes that would later fight the Jamesgun are not very impressive, with 4 being destroyed by the camion's defenses. I still need to rewatch the Gallicson episode, but at this time these bikes seem more like fodder similar to the role Magellan tanks and Dopps played in the original series, which at first glance would make the Jamesgun sound a bit worse if it actually had a hard time fending them off. Credit where credit is due, when the bikes do land a lucky shot on the Victory Gundam, it does some damage, so they are at not defenseless against MS either. On the other hand, a Camion gets a hit in the driver's cabin by one of their shots, but everyone inside seems to survive, so that also seems to indicate that they use very low output beam weapons.
      That ended up being much longer than I intended!
      I want to conclude saying that I really like your videos and they have made look up more info on the later UCs (I have even begun digging into G-Saviour of all things!). I apologize if I sometimes seem a bit too confrontational in my comments, but I do like discussing this topics and can't help but point out some things that stand out to me as odd or sometimes even seem contradictory. I also have to admit I more of a Zeon fan & a bit anti-EF, but still enjoy discussing aspects from both sides. It really helps to think that Anaheim designs are just Zeonic models with the skin of EF models, so I part of me do is rooting for the Jamesgun & Javelin (same goes for the Nemo & Jegan). And I do love unorthodox designs, regardless of who makes them, so some of the weird machines from Zanscare, like the ones you featured in your Neo Carthagena video, really hit that spot!

      As for your usual comments, i really enjoy them, the long paragraphs are always super interesting to read, and it's interesting to see different point and views,even if they are critical on some points. I'm also a sucker for weird machines ahah

      It actually aged pretty badly, despite how amazing it was during the OYW. In Anaheim Log, the Titans GM Sniper II isn't able to help correctly the DII and Quels to deal with the Dowas Customs, and in CDA (barely 2-3 years after the OYW) Lila gets easily outmanœuvred in her Sniper II by older machines (despite her being established as an excellent pilot in Zeta)
