- 3 basic disco grooves to get you going in this style. These grooves will work well for the disco style improv in Trinity Rock and Pop Session Skills for Grade 5, as well as for just getting your disco on generally!
Have fun and please let me know if any questions :)

This video's very "helpful". thank's bro for you videos.
Thanks you Teacher
This is a REALLY stupid question but I'm a self taught beginner drummer and I still don't know how to do the open close technique properly. What motion do you use with your foot? Do you just lift it off the pedal? Any help is appreciated. Sorry I tried editing this because I thought I left something out so this is filler to allow me to post the comment.

@@MikeBarnesDrums Tysm I think I was overcomplicating it because I have an electronic kit and it's not always the easiest technique to perform on a non acoustic kit. I appreciate you.
I want to see the note of that sixteen beat sir i'm beginner do learn lots from u sir
Awesome broo
Cheers Brian! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment 👊🏻
@@MikeBarnesDrums ok broo. your cool man..
Hi Mike, what size crash cymbals do you use, thanks.
Meinl Byzance Cymbals - 20" Sand Ride, 18” Sand Thin Crash, 16" Vintage Crash, 14” Sand Hats
Is it me or this guy sounds precise as a machine
🤖🥁👊🏻

any video demonstrating breaks ? for disco tempo?
Kostas Athens Hi man, thanks for watching. Not for drum breaks per se - but will throw up some more disco-type stuff soon. Cheers! 👊🏻
@@MikeBarnesDrums thank u bro! I am searching for some ideas ! I am messing up with handsonic these days and disco rythm very intersting
Is it just me or that bass drum has a lot of reverb?
i need some drums lol
Yep!
HI, WHAT'S THE NAME OF COMPANY OF YOUR DRUM
These days, Cambridge Drum Company. This was a few years ago on a Yamaha Recording Custom kit :)
@@MikeBarnesDrums THANK YOU SIR. CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME THAT WHICH COMPANY DRUM SHOULD I TAKE FOR BEGINNING.
How did u achieve that bass drum reverb?
Ha ha, sound for this one just recorded through the iphone 6s, bit of natural reverb off the resonant heads of the other drums! Cheers :)
Hello Mike. Do you use heel toe for doubles??
Aryan Gurwara Hi Aryan, no, although nothing against that technique. I just like to keep it simple and use heel-up technique all the way, except for lighter playing such as feathering the kick in jazz music, where I’d use heel-down. Cheers!

Waww
Where are the ghost notes?
Alejandro Lobos Kunstmann Hi Alejandro, thanks for watching! No ghost notes in these basic versions of the disco grooves, you could of course add them in if appropriate for the musical your playing. Cheers!
@@MikeBarnesDrums please do a second video with the ghost note patterns. There's nothing in UA-cam about them
@@alobosk Hi man, already got a couple of videos about ghost notes -

Boots and pants and boots and pants and boots and pants and boots and pants and...
Dogs and cats
Can i please get the drum song name
I'm not thinking of one particular song here, rather the disco feel in general!
You have the wrong kind of drums for this kind of music. This kit sounds like it would be more suited to Rock. I'm not a drummer, and you definitely know a lot more about this than me, but the drum kit in disco music sound completely different from the one you're using.
No
Kick sounds baad
Awesome
