I've added captions here for people who cant hear what the instructor is saying at (2:00), which is when the instruction starts: "So, to get out, the problem is: I musn't stay alot of time inside, because if I stay alot of time [inside the quicksand], all the water will get out, because I've dug some holes into the layer of sand, and the water gets out. You see? Everything becomes liquid. So I must get out very quickly because it could become hard - very hard. The water gets out, and the sand [will] get hard. Because the sand is soft, because the sand is full of water but [if the water gets out] the sand [will get hard]. Ok? So I must get out quickly. Check it out, I must [inaudible/not english] put my weight on one of my leg[s]. Like that (2:44). Okay? And then I, mix water and sand and make small movements like that, as I can. And I get out. The problem is not the first leg, but the second. The first is ok - quite easy - but some people think 'Oh I'm alive!' and get out, [but] they pull on their ligaments, the tendons and so on. So to get out I must kneel, like that (3:16). Put all my weight on my knee. All my weight on my knee. And this is hard. And I must move my second leg as I did for my first [leg]. And I must kneel again, and get out, okay? And if I get out, and if I have quicksand up to my waist, its very very [difficult]." The instructor then encourages participants to try it on their own.
@@enistyxhari2407 Obviously.....by sustaining the laws of physics required to enable such activity. After all, physical laws do not CAUSE anything...they merely describe what is caused.....
Jokes aside this was really helpful. Let's summarize 1) You put all of your weight on one of your legs. 2) Wiggle the other leg to let the sand mix with water and free it. 3) Put your knee of the free leg on the surface of the quicksand and lean forward. 4) While putting all of your weight on your knee, wiggle the other leg till it's free. Congrats you're free, but always remember to stay calm in the quicksand and to think logically.
Quicksand isn't just a phenomenon of ocean shores. I've seen it under the right conditions in desert river channels like the Little Colorado in Arizona and the Dirty Devil in Utah. It can also occur in braided rivers channels in the silt of glacial outwash rivers in the Yukon and Alaska. A climber coming down from Mount Logan died when they tried to pull him out of a quicksand entrapment and broke his spine. While paddling the Dolores River in Colorado I once encountered a cow stuck in quicksand. The group stopped and managed to free the animal.
We had the same experience exploring a channel at Lake Powel over 35 years ago when it was much fuller. Was fun at first as water trapped in the sand was springy but we all realized it could be a trap fairly easily. In a group so was not scary just fascinating!
Mont St Michel is a stunning place. Beautiful views. But there are signs all over warning people of quicksand and high tides. At certain times of the day, all of the walking paths are completely engulfed in water and whole place is surrounded by water. It’s a majestic place but also has a mystical vibe. So happy I got the chance to visit. 🙏🏽
Thank you, what clever decision to instruct the walkers on the sand around Mont St. Michel. I've been there, but IN the solid "Mont" itself, not on the sand. If there's one thing I fear most, dying in quicksand is just that. This tour-guide did it very well, she knows what she's doing. At the start I was shocked to see all the sand moving under those feet, as if the whole group could vanish in one second, brrrrrr. Fortunately they learned.
This is like all product demonstrations by sales people. Looks great and easy. but if we try, we would probably fall over and get ourselves pulled in head first.
You don't usually die from quicksand that way. However if you are stuck and the tide comes then you really don't have much time. Especially in Mont saint Michel because of the landscape the tide comes as a wave very suddenly. It still take a while to reach 40 cm but that's probably really scary
Alright, so here’s how you get out, lean on your right leg, shake and pull the left. Once the left is out lean on your left knee and shake and pull the right leg out.

@@kaceeharrison3715 "this" would refer to the technique used, that is, the technique used will be hard to apply if above the waist. In other words, you should then use another techinque instead.
I've heard that your best bet once it gets above your waist is to actually throw your torso backwards until you "lay" on your back and much as possible, and throw your arms up above your head for some momentum. The goal is to get as much levarage above ground as possible, which hopefully will start to free your legs.
All you have to do is just watch after the 2:36 mark she literally shows you. You just wiggle each leg back and forth and it will slowly lift out of the sand, then do the same with the other leg.

Agreed.
Wow incredible good how she escaped, I saw videos were the guy was not even that far sunken into the sand and had not been able to free ihimself. Thy had to recover him with high pressure water hoses and wooden boards. He got the total panik and said it had hurt a lot, not the recovery but the pressure to his feeds was so intense that the blood had trouble to circulate.
She made it look so easy - just wow and thank you for this tip how to escape.
"How to escape quicksand" (Ft. WIND)

Am I the only one watching this while sinking in quicksand?
Yup. And you sank to the bottom face first because you couldn't hear shit but wind. RIP FariaBeats.
I guess, loner with a small boner
No..I'm also here from tamilnadu sinking in quicksand forced by the goverment ...Trying to come out ...but,i think it will take my whole life time to come out from this quicksand...Yeah,..I am still alive..And I'm 19...Politically, a very active man...more probably socially instead of politically...Mmm...Estimating that my right leg is freed right now..Coz.., I'm canvassing around my community which drives those people towards aware of political pressure on us.,i think that...A long way to go here to reach a gud destiny...
Lol
I would answer but you are probably dead by now.
Seems many missed the part where she said - "if it's above the waist, this is very hard"
Or it's just a completely obvious statement. Clearly the further down you get the harder it would be to get out. That is common knowledge
"Seems many missed the part where she said -"
Correct.
She said what?!
Great job on the sound.
Everybody loves getting their speakers blown out.
I don't speak wind can someone translate this please
She said keep wiggling until your head is submerged
@@jngaming9618 ah thanks I'll keep that in mind
There is caption if you need help and I know it's a joke
The other thing JN Gaming forgot to say is that if you die give me your phone.
@@sjoerdbruh8369 You kinda copied somebody's comment...just saying.
I like how the wind gets quieter as soon as she starts talking
Lmao
She's the avatar
She is a wind bender
When someone speaks the mics grab their voice and tries to mute sounds arround it.
Respectful wind

this is what it sounds like when you listen to songs in the school's 50 cent earphones
Ancient Humans: warning each other about mysterious sand that seems to devour people
Modern Humans: *Literally make quicksand and escape it FOR FUN*
True example of education 👍
NOO I REMEMBERED SONG OF ACHILLES AND NOW IM CRYING AGAIN
The reality is that they knew a lot more about the world than we do today.
@@abc-iq9fk except escaping from quicksand, apparently...
@@abc-iq9fk what are you talking about?
People : Let’s make a video!
Wind: NOPE
The captions did everything but tell us what the instructor was saying
All you have to do is just watch after the 2:36 mark she literally shows you. You just wiggle each leg back and forth and it will slowly lift out of the sand, then do the same with the other leg.
@@MikeTheCosplayer still
@@MikeTheCosplayer Keep in mind that you need to put all your weight on the leg thats not being wigled out. Otherwise youll just burry yourself if you only wiggle around.
Man, I went there and walked the beach before the tide, but never saw that type of demonstration. That was awesome!
