OMG!!! Yes!!! Thank you so much! My instructors at school always told me that I would have to remove and replace the nail and I was always like, no!!! I have a couple of fingers that constantly will lean off and now I KNOW!!! I am so grateful for continuing education!
This was awesome. I think u should have a series on how to fix issues that will all encounter after we get the initial application down. Love Melissa. Miss Tracy’s “How Much.@
Omg crooked nail gang over here! 😂 Finally I don't have to completely remove them! Amazing video! Would you guys consider doing a video on lopsided nails as well? Most of my nailbeds sort of lean off to the side so one sidewall is naturally lower than the other. I'm the only one I can practice on right now and it's the bane of my existence lol!
same here! all my nails are weird. i started dip powder cuz my friend started her own co. then my sis sugested builders gel in a bottle to help with abnormalities. i've only done builders gel once & it turned out better than before...even so it was only my 3rd or 4th time.
Wow! Thank you so much for this tutorial. I have just started my career as a Nail Technician and have not encountered this yet. It gives me confidence that now I will know how to deal with it.....once my clientele builds. 😁👍💓
Omg I so do this. I have at least one nail that ends up crooked and I never know how I did it. This video is awesome. I may be using this video as reference. Thanks Mellissa. Much appreciated.
Sometimes it is their finger though you can have a straight nail on a finger that’s crooked and it looks weird my fingers are slightly crooked so when my hand it straight out a couple nails will look crooked
I’ve been doing nails for 7yrs Qualified for 6yrs in the UK, this video was by far one of the most informative I’ve watched since training..... Thanks sooo much, this is going to be a huge game changer for me when I get back to nails xx
Thank you so much for sharing this, Melissa! I remember you mentioned this in a previous video and I'm so happy you did it. I would have never thought to put the form on a bit crooked....genius! This is so helpful and I saved this video. Happy Holidays to you and the entire Young Nails family!! 🎅🎄🍭🎁❄🍬❤
I've been asking for this video for a long time now. Thank you so much for this! 😍❤ My thumb, ring and pinky nails all grow crooked A.F! I usually can only do one fill on them before needing to completely redo them because they've grown too wonky. Hopefully doing what Melissa showed us will save me time when it comes to doing my own nails. 😊💕😙
She did a great job of educating love learning different ways of filing and shaping I also like that she showed how to use the electric file for most of the filing 😍😍😍
Needed this. My first two sets I did with sculpting gave me three crooked nails on my left hand, and one on my right hand. The third attempt went much better, but this video is right on time.
Heyyyy melissa love to see u work I did my own version of ur dimensional nail it came out pretty good now every nail is dimensional lol can't wait to see and try ur next one
Three out of five on my left hand appear very crooked, due to twisted fingers. It’s all about visual trickery! I can’t make my natural nail straight, but I can fake it! Love this.
Thank you! I feel so bad I don’t remember. For some reason I don’t remember the names of all the go time colors. Shame on me. I do have a Resolution glitter on top of a few of them. I hope you own that color Promotional color!
I am definitely adding this video to the list of recommendations I give to our new nail techs when they start at our salon! Very well demonstrated, thank you so much. (One of the other recommendations I give is the video where Tracy explosions the sidewall filing)
Oooh, I'd love to see a video on correcting nails that grow downwards. My pointer fingers do that and idk how to fix them when I fill, so I usually take that whole nail off and do a completely new one.
Now that would definitely be hard to create on the trainer hand LOL. I usually file my side wall street on it before I start taking off the color or anything. And then build up the nail again.
This is just in time! I did a full coverage tip set on myself the other day and I noticed my nail was crooked. I thought I did it wrong so I tried again and made sure I put the tip on my nail straight and it still looked crooked. Come to find out it's my finger that's crooked 🤣I feel for my old nail techs now. The grief I gave them and they NEVER blamed me 🤣🤣
My pointer n middle fingers r like the client of urs that u was talking about. I have a bad habit of over filing the one side trying to make it look good. What shape do u thing is the best for that? I usually wear ballerina
Try just making contact with the finger nail and see what happens. If it’s not doing much or anything then put slight more pressure from there. Your electric file doesn’t indicate the speed it going? If not I would invest eventually on one that does. It will help you so much!😉💅🏻♥️
I have a question. I'll do my nails and they look fabulous. In about 2 weeks my pointer fingers and bending down. My natural nails curl on my pointer fingers. If I use tips on them, they will eventually lift from the free edge as my nail grows. If I use forms they really really bend and it makes it really hard to correct it. What do I do? I usually just redo those 2 fingers. Can I fill them? What can I do to stop it? Anything?
Before you file off any gel polish, file your side wall straight. This will help it straighten and then build it up. If it takes a really wicked curve I would cut it off and reform the nail. I have a couple clients like that. I usually could get away with it every other time.
I love her... ... eye wear... i want it clear ! How do i find it!? I guess i will be googling all day. I hope they come in prescription and not just for style.
It's so annoying because my middle finger nail, grows crooked. So I've been trying to learn how to problem solve and build to compensate. This is the video I needed.
Omg you know what I don’t think works for gel at all? Forms. As a beginner, it is so much harder to get that clean free edge than with acrylic. Sticking to tips for now on gel.
Melissa De La Cruz Thank you! Watching you has taught me so much and I wasn’t expecting two new tips in this video I haven’t heard you say before and what can I say Melissa you just keep on giving!
ok so what if it is the finger and you try to get it straight but that damn finger is crooked thats my big problem is one of clients fingers is crooked and i can never get it the straight
I still make the nails straight even if the finger is crooked. Yes this is very challenging. You just have to put the form on very crooked and customize the form. If you were going on a tip I just glued the tip on cricket and it will look straight if that makes sense.
Okay so if I mess up and want to rebalance and get the shape right if I totally notch it or it is crooked. I can efile down and use another form and fix it?
You can definitely do that, or you can always clip off the extension, thin the product at the free edge and re-sculpt the nail. Here's a great video to show you this technique and you can decide which procedure works best for you in the situation. ua-cam.com/video/YmmBpupbOo8/v-deo.html
@@youngnailsinc thank you so much! Both techniques work great for me. These videos have been a blessing, along with the advice anytime we need it. Thank you.
My left index fingernail has made nail techs plan amongst themselves. I stuck it in an open electrical socket as a toddler. Part of the fleshy side of my finger is gone and the nail only grows about 3mm before it curves harshly to the left - my nail will corkscrew and look like a slope... It's srsly munted
Unfortunately you can't change the growth pattern of your nails. However, you can use the techniques in this video to make them look straight. You may have to re-do the nails every so often to bring them straight again.
This methods works really well fixing a tilted nails temporarily, but not many clients don’t understand that it will grow back to where it was in couple weeks. Then we have to do the same thing again.
I have THE hardest time when it comes to making my nails straight 😮💨 I’ve literally tried everything. I’ve went as far as to pre cut my tips in the coffin shape and then applying them to my nail and they still come out crooked! It’s always my left hand too. I’m right handed so not sure if that makes a difference? Something I do and please if you can weigh in on this I’d be so grateful! After I put my tips on I always bring my hand up and turn it so the palm of my hand is facing me. Then I see what way the nails leaning towards. If it's your own nails (not a client), it may be the angle you are applying the tips. Instead of curling your fingers over so you only have the view of the ends of your fingers and the nails, straighten the whole hand and turn it facing you. This may feel awkward, but it will show your nails straight in line with the whole finger.
