I've been waiting for this video! Lloyd is my dad and I can't believe he was in this video!! I'm so happy to see him get proper recognition for how hard he works! I love it!
He seems like a really cool guy, and a great chef!
Hey congrats, looks like a good man
I totally get this. I'm a Scot. We love a good fish supper. It's comfort, feel-good food, solid, honest food. I'm sure the take on it is different for our American friends, but I suspect the feeling is the same...
nothing like a solid chunk of battered fish, freshly fried, backed up with a good sized bunch of crispy chips....salted well, beef tallow fry, none of this oil business.
@@TheDarwiniser give me a main lobster, scallops, shrimp cocktail and a light chowder anyday over fried cod and cheese
even better washed down with some good ol bucky wine ;)
There is nothing like a Friday fish fry in Milwaukee!
fish fry and beer are always a good combination!
Ruben Aledo for a heart attack
I clapped when I saw Milwaukee in the title.
Mmmm! Now I'm STARVING for an ALL NEW Toyota Camry! Oh wait...
It's an hour till 12' in the morning here in Malaysia why you do this to me Eater D:
Fish , Catholic, Lent, Beer, Camry lol
I liked the narration
I need to have this in my life right now!
Now I want to go to Milwaukee.
Pretty much the Midwest in general. Friday night fish fry at the union hall, 4H, VFW, American Legion, church or neighborhood bar is a core family social event.
Could’ve actually tried the fish
*Great Video*
He didnt even try the fish! Wtf
What?! WHEN DID YALL COME TO MILWAUKEE?!
Yum, that looks great.
i need to get some of that.
Wait non-profit what? Could someone explain how that works?
Non is Dutch for nun. Profit goes to nuns.
Any profit after paying wages and paying for product is given to American Legion.
_bad awesome, thanks.
So.. basically just fish and chips without ye chips?
Kinda, it's traditionally served with potato pancakes of some sort depending on the establishment. Though if you wanted chips, just tell'em you want fries instead. lol!
Highly inaccurate title. The best fish fry in Milwaukee is at Fritz Pub in the south side. Every restaurant here does one, but Fritz is a standout
"best" is pretty subjective
"Best" is only objective when asking personal opinion. Aggregated data from several sources and reviews is used to objectively determine "best." Hence, how I went about choosing the computer I'm typing on or the 4k tv I bought. And I've been in Milwaukee for the majority of my life, like the video says Friday Fry Fries are a legitimate religion here--even fast food chains promo fish heavily. Some go to the same spot, some hit a different one weekly. Ask anyone who has the best one and the same names always, literally always, come up--Fritz, Serb Hall, Lakefront, the Packing House. People don't wait 2+ hours to eat a fry when they could go to any corner bar in the city.
How is Wisconsin surrounded by water on 3 sides?
+Matt dub The Mississippi River is almost all of Wisconsin's west border. And of course Lake Superior to the north and Lake Michigan to the east.
Yum, Friday Fish Fry. My favorite Wisconsin tradition
There's Gunny!
Sad their fish fry isn't happening anymore. :(
Damn I can't eat fish and this looks really good!
what??? really??? damn, so sorry for you, one of natures greatest delights is cracking into a fresh hot salty batter to find the tender flaking fish, backed up by piping hot crispy salty fries dipped in ketchup.... did i mention malt vinegar, splashed over the fish, giving a sharp malt kick to the salt, batter and delicious flavour of the fish?
a moment of silence for our fried fish heaven denied friend :(
Are those just latkas?...
Jonathon "Johnny B" Brandmeier from Fond du Lac, Wisconsin was a radio personality in Chicago in the 80's and 90's. He had a bit where whenever he talked to someone from Wisconsin he would ask for the best fish fry and they would instantly shoot back a definitive answer. No matter how small the town, no matter what part of the state they had a place. Here in Chicago there are thousands of places that have Friday fish fries, they are not throwing frozen crap into the fryer and staying in business, there are just too many places that make great fish, why would anyone eat Mrs. Pauls?
A sub-par fish fry just won't last. A fish fry is much more than the food- it's a culture. Certainly the food has to be top notch, but each place might be good for different reasons. Wendt's on the Lake serves excellent perch 7 days a week, including lunch. Lakeside Grill w Dave Lallier inside Lakeside Park in Fond du Lac has what I think is the best perch, lightly breaded, with the best sides as well. Other places offer delicious battered fish, too. If you really want to experience a fish fry culture check out the annual Walleye Weekend Festival in Fond du Lac, usually the second weekend in June. A lot of free family events, and the world's largest fish fry! Free shuttle rides from the public high school, too. #FondyPride
Best Fish Fry in Milwaukee! …..
Then shows a restaurant in Shorewood 😢
Price ?
Ballpark $10. Most places will do a normal fish fry which is ~3-4 pieces of fish and all sides for around 10, and then a large which gives you an extra 2-3 pieces of fish for between 10 and 15.
+Sharad ahmed Quick shot of menu @1:49
Cod $11.50
Blue Gill $13.50
Perch $14.50
Walleye $15.50
Fish and chips whit a twist
Guys the music track is too loud
Everyone has "their" take...
*their
What is that "rye bread"? It looks like a slice of cake!
its called marble rye
Whats thats sauce on the side of potato pancakes? Apple ? I never have eaten potato pancakes with apple sauce, only sour cream and sugar or goulash.
It's apple sauce indeed, the potato pancakes with apple sauce are pretty much a direct derivative/copy of a classic German staple food called "Reibekuchen" If you google it you can see it's pretty much the same thing :)
i mean we that in poland too but never with apple sauce.
You should try it if you can, it's really good :D
try sour cream and sugar its unreal. Peace
Forgot the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the map.
I'm sorry but if you come more north in Wisconsin we have way better fish fries. Especially the Eau Claire and Chippewa area.
I agree
I live 50 mins north of Milwaukee, and can tell you that this is not the best fish fry in Milwaukee, at least by volume. I believe Serb hall is....serving almost 2000 fish frys a Friday night during lent.
A fish fry, like a fish boil, is a community event, inherently local. And, as I'm sure you know living here, it's more than just Milwaukee, it's pretty much the Midwest in general. They do them in Chicago, in Michigan, in Iowa, Ohio, and that's just places I've lived.
Did you see the size of that place? They couldn't do 2000 even if they tried.
Who judges greatness of food by pure volume? McDonalds the best burger in the country?
Apple sauce with fish? I've never seen it served with anything except pork
+Shane Walta Apple sauce with potato cakes, potato pancakes or latkes is a traditional combination.
Yup apple sauce or sour cream.
And/or!
Tbh the manager is cute...
Man I miss a good fish fry.
The best fish fry is 30 minutes away perch and walleye at the eagles club non better bud.
great vid, awful product placement bumper at the end
Isn't fish meat I'm pretty sure it is
woah, 3 seconds ago
2nd
I can see why everyone is that bar is fat
either shave that beard or cover it while you're cooking... I'd be very squeamish about my food if I saw him like that...
Wtf is lint
It's a time when people non stop eat ass
It's the 40 days leading up to Easter. The last week leading up to Easter is Holy Week. For most Catholics, we are prohibited from eating meat on Fridays during this 40-day period. Hence, the Friday fish fries.
It's called Lent. Catholics give up something they like like, usually candy as a kid. When I was young meatless Fridays were all year long, not just lent.
...boring. its fried fish. nothing new. You can make this at home and i can bet that it'll taste better than the fish in that place.
This video is about fried fish. Thanks for watching!
Perhaps, but your whole house gonna smell like fried fish
The world's greatest response.
Why did you watch this episode about fried fish if it's "boring?"
Ross Howdle : he didn't know the episode is boring BEFORE watching. he found out AFTER watching. is common sense. you cannot tell something is boring by not doing it.
