Pretty In Pink - A Gypsy Bride's Pink Themed Wedding | Big Fat Gypsy Weddings | FULL EPISODE | OMG

- Опубліковано 3 вер 2022
- Entering the world of 21st Century gypsy and traveller weddings, where ancient traditions meet modern fashions in an ostentatious culture clash, this film follows four gypsy and traveller families on their wedding day.
Considered ‘on the shelf’ at 20, in gypsy and traveller communities many girls get married soon after their 16th birthday with the support of their family.
The weddings are visual spectacles: brides and their families compete to have the most flamboyant dresses; girls parade into church in enormous dresses that sometimes weigh more than the bride herself.
Although the women look sexually provocative there is a tradition of premarital chastity that is increasingly unusual in Britain today.

Disney princesses are popular theme with traveler brides? Makes sense because the brides are literal CHILDREN.
What I have been thinking about the whole time with this show
well for priscella, tiana from princess and the frog was over 18 when she got married, but other than that I agree
There's a difference between saying you don't want to give a date and giving a false date. You can be secretive without screwing someone over.
Yeah, while I completely understand her motivation that was carrying things too far, especially when it hurt someone who'd gone out of her way to make accommodations.
@@ttintagel Exactly, I understand it's very hard for a young lady to have this pressure hanging over her head and that potentially losing your venue is not a great feeling, it's unfair. But being in a bad situation isn't a pass to be disrespectful to someone else. Especially someone who you want service from.
Yep!
Agreed. It’s almost like someone getting into a relationship after constantly being hurt or fucked over. It isn’t that current bf or gf’s fault for all that, but people sometimes can’t help but not be able to trust these new people or be scared to open up. It doesn’t make it right that they just have trust issues from others and not them but they also shouldn’t take it out in them yk? That’s the best way I can explain it.
They also shouldn’t uphold their reputation proudly when every person or business doesnt want anything to do w them. just like one can’t blame all men/women for one or a few bad ones.
@@embadly Be like King David and own it. Travellers never take responsibility. That is why their "reputations" are dirty. Gypsy honour? They have the most debase morals.

So true and then talking about her as if she's the idiot. smh rude!
Throwing food at each other in a public resteraunt is so disrespectful especially for other people eating there
I do agree with Thelma though, she has a business to run.
Well she can show them in the future by refusing to dress her sisters and cousins. All she needs to say is the lead time is too short (as the assembly deadlines always are). That will put manners on them.
This is the reason why a lot of dressmakers and venues, etc. do not want to deal with travelers or gypsies etc. because of issues like this. For every event that I’ve seen, they literally destroy peoples property and cause people like dressmakers and venue owners millions and millions of dollars in repairs, etc . Everyone is saying that they are a headache.
Your loud and unruly in a hotel you get kicked out. So be respectful during your stay and you wouldn't get kicked out! It's seriously not hard!

Child speaking to member of the club “she’s getting married you jackass” - and they wonder why they’re not popular????🤣
I feel like it’s lost on the traveling community that the reason they get “shunned” from society isn’t because people are prejudiced against gypsies. It’s because the community actively commits human rights violations on a regular basis. Pulling children out of school to get married at 14, looking the other way when women get raped or abused, so many terrible instances. That’s why they aren’t “accepted” and it’s wild that they re so blind to it. The whole thing is very sad.
Definition of bigotry - obstinate or unreasonable attachment to a belief, opinion, or faction; in particular, prejudice against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular group.
You can defend bigotry all you want but to judge and entire group of people because of your assumptions of their lifestyle and their actions is bigotry, end of story!

@@megansarat I’m not being funny but it’s true. I’ve had many Gypsies come into our towns every year and I’ve had nothing but bad experiences with them. All the things said above are true. It’s absolutely a fact that they take girls out of education at 11, if not younger, that’s not only illegal but extremely sexist, leading to girls having to rely on the men in their lives as they have no independence. Any other group who have done this in the past have been penalized and written in the history books as the bad guys, it’s worth thinking about that when u try and stick up for them. Yes some r different but that’s a minority not the majority. It’s their culture/tradition to do this.

My experience with travellers isn't good so there's a GOOD reason why they're disliked. Stealing, trashing my local garage, kids rude + disrespectful, the list goes on + on!!

Reading between the lines, the family who lied about the date, with the mother who refused to be filmed, might have criminal links. That they were afraid the wedding information, or guest list, would get back to the authorities perhaps.
There is guaranteed trouble at that wedding. If they are found out the hotel will cancel, the staff will refuse to work and the venue will be cancelled.

Female genital mutilation is also cultural, doesn't make it right.
Sorry to say but a lot of accounts suggest that this is the reason that they are travellers....because they were once settled people who insisted on indulging in criminal behaviour in different spheres of life and were no longer acccepted so they realized that if they could not be found out, they could do whatever they want. Does it not occur to these people that the reluctance to accept them has nothing to do with cultural discrimination and everything to do with the expense involved in repairing the damage that is done by their disrespect and disregard for other people's property? If anyone doubts this, just visit a place the day after travellers have left ...........
You for to mention assaulting minimum wage staff in catering. Another reason to get out of the catering business.

They should have trusted Thelma with the dates without giving the exact venue. Northern Ireland is a small place where a last minute notification wouldn't make a big difference. Where a date would.

Im sorry to hear, how travellers are being treaten by people. On the other hand, I read some articles about the Gypsy Community treating Gays and Lesbians the same way and worse. Beating them up, harrasing them. So I wonder, why this is and why they did not learn to respect people who are different. Its kinda bigott in my eyes.
Gypsies r a nightmare!! It's not bigoted. My personal experience has been terrible, they've got a bad rep 4 a reason!!
The best friend dance was so sweet and original. Bought tears to my eyes u can see the genuine love between them
There has to be a reason why places don’t want to associate with travellers, and it’s not just that they’re travellers. My guess is it’s because they’re disrespectful and destructive. Why else would a venue not want them there. They just said that a large number of them were arrested at the horse fair the previous year and now friends of the bride were kicked out of a hotel due to their behaviour. They’re not innocent victims of ridicule at all. They have a reputation and unfortunately they got it on their own. Now they have to live with the repercussions and consequences.
It’s not just blind prejudice.
@@leighcarlson87 no its not!!! They steal, they fight, they have no respect for anyone or anything!! How much experience have you had with travellers? The kids shit anywhere they want, LITERALLY.
I had loads move in on an open area near me and their kids ran riot on people's garden, shit in the lifts of nearby flats which the elderly and mother's with babies and toddlers had to use to get to their flats, they were fighting with each other, throwing each others shoes over into people's gardens, pulling up their flowers and plants, they stole everything that wasn't nailed down and simply destroyed everything they could for no reason other than they could.
The kids spat at us, swore at us even though we said and did nothing to them, local children were beaten up and when they were thankfully finally moved on, they left tons of rubbish strewn all over the open area. They were the most vile, disrespectful people I have ever seen in my life and yet they act like victims who are bullied and condemned just for their lifestyle and take zero responsibility asto why people close their businesses to them!!
You and so many others on here are plain stupid and ignorant. They aren't these amazing, wonderful community of people, this isn't a glamorous, exciting lifestyle, its ravaged by sexual abuse on children, domestic violence on woman, no education for children, girls who are taught to clean a caravan all day, raise their siblibgs as "practice" for their own future children, there's "grabbing", they dress their toddler daughters like hookers and they dance like lap dancers so that they can meet a man and get married at 16 yrs old just for some excitement in their boring lives. Instead, they marry and their husbands bugger off out all day cheating with other women, ripping people off and drinking. Its a lonely life for a woman whilst the unskilled men that rip off elderly and vulnerable doing piss poor, unnecessary work on roofs, tarmacing etc they don't pay taxes, they don't pay bills, they don't pay for anything and rip off honest hardworking businesses and steal from shops!!
Do your research before you label those that KNOW the truth as ignorant because the only one that's ignorant and blind is YOU!!
Lol I'll explain why. I run a party business where I do candy carts, seat covers, centre pieces, back drops etc for occasions. I did a traveller one thar was booked over the Internet and wasn't aware until the day. I went ahead because I could not leave them with nothing. The next morning I went to collect my things and the candy cart had been smashed up, the centre pieces all stolen and the white linen all ruined.
Don't get me started on my husband. He runs an electric gate company and has ALWAYS done work for travellers... however over the last few years he's had to stop due to non payments, threats, them purposefully breaking the motors etc to get out of paying.
Some of his good friends are travellers but they are not all good and they like to try intimidate and bully.
You said it....I can go on about that but I am going to leave it alone
People of every race or sort have "bad eggs" or ppl that make their community look bad. Its not any different w Gypsies. No one community is perfect or right.
I might be a bit more sympathetic to the gypsies if they didn't leave a disgusting mess behind. Poor Thelma, did she not get all the money upfront....lesson learned.
Thelma has given her life to dressing traveler women and yet some still crap on her. Through the traveler community they know thelma would not lie or give out details off wedding ect.

She's condescending Lol
they can't even make it through one night at a hotel without acting like they're in their caravan and getting kicked out in the middle of the night? go tf to bed omg
It’s not irrational to keep an eye on these people and be wary. Many of them tend to have shady ways of making money. And they can get very rowdy at wedding receptions and other events.
If there is one person who would want to make sure the wedding happened, it would be the dress maker. Why would she do all the work and then tell the venue they were travelers and risk it? I mean duh.
Travellers are stupid that way. They expect everyone to both make themselves available And drop everything at a moment's notice. Delusions of grandeur
They cancel because of the extreme damage they do to these venues! Nice people don't trash a venue. And violent fights by the women and men, DISSCUSTING behavior period. That is why! From venues to hotels. That's saying something.

So who do you think is being abusive to the horses at Appleby fair if it's not the gypsies?
What’s the difference between travelers and gypsies?
Treat people with respect. It works both ways. Each side is responsible for half of the relationship. Each side is 100% responsible for their own 50%. What do the Travellers bring to the table? Nothing! They demand, expect, and play the victim. Do they go around and pick up garbage in the communities the stop in? No. They use the roads, yet do not pay taxes. They seem so focused on what is being done to them. But do not take any responsibility. They were kicked out a hotel because other paying guests were being bothered. Whenever we’d go on school trips we were expressly told that we had to be absolutely perfect the entire trip. Because we were kids, and people are judgemental of kids, we needed to be extra careful of our behaviour. They act as though they are innocent but where there is smoke, there is fire. Take some effing responsibility people and stop being the victim!!

Most of the stigma around Gypsies is warranted!
They just won't understand the disruption they cause everywhere. They don't belong anywhere. They never settle and try and fit in.Quiet communities want to stay quiet. There is always a lot of children noise and disruption.
I really wouldn’t have a problem but where I live there was some gypsies who have settled at the back of a beautiful stately home and my partner went to park up there so we could walk around the grounds,
They approached us in my car leaning their arms right onto are windows both sides big guys to they were extremely intimidating and were pressurising us into trying to get them some drugs! My partner is a big chap and tough but even he found it to much, also the hedges outside of the site were disgusting full of rubbish yet they are like a minutes drive from a re-cycle plant so no excuses for fly tipping.
My daughter’s partner told me about two special sites they had equipped for other gypsies in the next county they abandoned them and they were never used.
The other problem is they go around are area’s ear marking particularly homes or cars to steal and using certain things to mark homes where they can steal dogs either for breading or dog fighting.
I will accept anybody normally but with that level of disregard and respect for others how can you they need to change their attitude before I change mine.
Dog breading as in dipped in flour, then egg, then bread crumbs and fried...hmmmm
I suspect you mean breeding...
I believe that the gypsy community go through a viscous cycle. Kids leave school at 11 and many times with a very low level of education (e.g not knowing the alphabet) due to the constant moving/lack of importance to education. With the community being closed off to the world their community, way of living and rules are all they know. Because their education stops so young and they only socialize with people who’s education also stopped young, they’re almost frozen in time to the age they left. There’s no ability to really grow.
If a “gorger” left school early, there’s still chance to grow. They live in a community thats diverse and educated, as they grow up they’ll learn from their peers, for e.g how to be mature and the options in life.
Gypsies don’t have that because most of their community have the same level of education. They r taught that they don’t need education, to not mix with gorgers, the men r in charge, marry asap, have kids, woman clean and take care of the man who’s the breadwinner. As they’re so closed off from the world, they can’t compare it against other paths, and as that’s all they see, that’s how they live. They then have kids of their own and raise them the same, and the cycle begins again.
This is why some commit crimes (steal, con, fight)(been taught to in their community, all they know, low level education); act immaturely; don’t want to change; think it’s okay to act how they do and think they’re wrongly treated. It’s rlly sad, they’re still humans after all who r kind souls, they where just never given the opportunity in life :(
Obvs I’m not talking about every gypsy but I am talking about their general culture and traditions.
Very well put
How do you suggest you change the "group think" or culture of 30 generations that resists change? I mean in 4 generations my family have gone from farm labourers to university graduates with no state assistance. How do you propose to change traveller culture with extra social welfare, grinds, easy access, free fees and top ups..... And they still can't make it work.
@@anthonyhassett i suppose the difference between your family and gypsie is that the aspects mentioned above are their culture and traditions, much harder to break. I believe that they are very determined to stick to their culture and traditions as it is dying out, they want to preserve it. I certainly dont propose more state assistance, if I’m being honest i think its ridiculous how they dont pay even council tax, however i do think perhaps more stricter regulations on how their schooling is managed. I assume that they take them out of school under the pretences that they are to be homeschooled, however we both know that doesn’t occur. If they were more or less forced to stay in school I would like to think that it may help. Perhaps now that social media is now so vast that even may help, help them see the outside world, communicate with people. However i simply do not know, as someone in the final year of a law degree i can only really suggest tighter laws lol
@@mia-mf5xt there is also the other aspect, is it fair on settled children to have the burden of traveller children in a classroom. I mean they are not encouraged from at home (most important), there is no homework or preparation done. So why go to school or even finish it if there is no vision for the future?
@@anthonyhassett I understand however that would massively go against the Equality Act, which was created due to HRA art 14, due to the ECHR. Although we’re not part of European convention anymore I highly doubt that this would change as it’s an integral legislative piece, if we’re tryna to think realistically, I think best shot is tighter restrictions on schooling
My heart broke for Brigitte and her friend.
I cannot understand why the travelers are unable to pool their money and buy a building in various parts of the country to hold these wedding receptions but I guess it binds them and makes them traceable and accountable.
I would imagine it's because they travel around often
They would wreck it. They only like to ruin other people's properties.
@@pigeon51 well if the Gypsies were the ones buying it they would be wrecking their own property that was my point, nobody would mind.
It might be hard to get anyone to sell them the land and grant them building permits.
@@ttintagel true, I hadn’t thought of that.
Yea sorry! If I was Thelma I would’ve pulled all the dresses I made for them and said go find another dress maker as good and as loyal as I am that will make the dresses without even a date in mind of when they need to be done! See how far that gets ya?! That’s incredibly rude & inconsiderate! BS they don’t look at it like that!! Maybe that’s one of the reasons people don’t want their business? The pubs look at it as them being disrespectful & to destructive but they don’t! Well….
And of course I’m sure it’s not all of them. It never is. Perhaps the majority though? You don’t gain a reputation without some truth to it.
I would have at least just dropped the dresses off and said find someone else to help you dress on the day.
very little truth, but also black ppl have a similar reputation but you cant judge all of them for it
@@montanawebb846 it's called a sense of intuition, it's a basic part of psychology.
@@ttintagel Thelma works to near impossible timelines, like booking to delivery of three weeks which is really two weeks when you take consultation, assembly into consideration. The bride would have to go to a charity shop to buy off the shelf and have it altered. Total abuse of the shop and Thelma.
Well there must have been issues if they don't want them back. Towns welcome event revenue, so... do they clean up a after their horses? Do they leave yeah behind?
See the Ballinasloe horse festival this week. No pubs or catering venues are open. What does that tell you?
The police wouldn't increase thier numbers of the something crazy didn't happen the year before. Same waybthe shop keeper wouldn't have put mess over his window. Previous years led them to act this way.
It probably cost the restaurants and bars more money to fix the damage than they would make. The ONLY time a business shuts it's doors is when they will lose money.
Also, if they weren't probably blocking the road or leaving horse stuff and trash behind, they would have no reason to say no stopping on the side of the road.
Excellent program. Thank you for having it. Loved watching it here from California.
Come over next year to Ireland to the horse fair in Ballinasloe and you can get the live show. Shure, myself and the wife will put you up for the week.
If the bride wouldn’t tell the dressmaker the correct wedding date, the dressmaker should have told her to just pick up all the dresses and transport them themselves. Dressmaker can just not go to this wedding!
Their lack of education is so blatant - I get second-hand embarrassment for them.
PLEASE KEEP UPLOADING THE FULL EPISODES!!!
This is a repeat. Maybe I'm wrong and just saw this on another channel...
@@VladmirPoopN it is a repeat. Her & her family screw Thelma over. Sad but true.
This show has been over for years …
That is SOOO messed up that they did that to her!! She is one of the most trustworthy women EVER!!!!! I hate that Gypsies get treated like that..
Gypsies get treated like that because they have a history......
Get treated like what?
I can’t believe they can’t do anything without there husbands and there husbands can do anything it’s awful really
Their reputation isn’t for no reason and it’s sad that a few bad families in areas have made it difficult to others but it’s for them to call out shameful and disgusting behaviour in their own communities but Instead they don’t so the bad reputation affects the whole community even those who don’t deserve it and it’s sad that the younger generations are being punished.
I do love how he's called his to bring him some lunch.
If a community wants to be accepted and respected that community needs to show respect to the community's that they are "visiting", meaning; no drunken brawls, no theft, no selling of fake goods. Show the GLORIOUS history of your culture do not accentuate the less than civil actions. Share your recipes, share the husbandry of raising those beautiful ponys and horses. Share a song, and its meaning. Im from the US and have never met a true Traveler. I have heard that there are communities in some areas here in the US. I did work at a grocery store in the late 1970's while I was in High School. The store was in Eastern Iowa and that is part of the "Corn belt" and much other types of foods are grown there. There are migrant workers who would "travel" through and I hate to say it, rob the store blind. There was also a clever "slide of hand" or a distraction like "Didnt I give you a $10 bill? etc. The workers did look different at well. Darker, almost olive colored skin, beautiful dark wild hair, and a demeanor that "ratted them out" from the quite town people. I do really enjoy "learning" about cultures from these videos. Even tho they are slightly "Slanted" to show the worst. I can pick thru that. Thanks.
@elizabethhansen6984 Did this migrant workers presented themself as an ethnic group? Called themselves as a group in particular name?
The girl with black hair and light brown eyes is so beautiful.
Nice to learn about these people. Thumbs up to them.
How do they PAY FOR ALL OF IT !!!!???
I feel like if gypsies had traditions like quinceañeras or sweet 16’s where girls can dress like princesses and take all the pics, girls probably wouldn’t get married so young.
Yeah, I also think that American weddings wouldn't be so extravagant if there were more opportunities for people to get dressed up and push the boat out every now and then.
Nah traveller girls love that gammon meat. This is why they are mad to be riding as soon as possible
I understand that most of the time it is being racist but the thrown out because you are being obnoxious is a good reason. To be honest I have seen a lot of these weddings and Gyspy TV shows and they are not always very rule-abiding citizens.
I love those horses. They are beautiful. I wish that I could get a place to keep a couple of them.
Those horses that aren't stabled? Never seen a vet or farrier ? Used for Sulkie racing on the open roads? Those horses?
@@anthonyhassett my heart goes out to those poor animals. They look unhappy. Even those little dogs who run around the yards. Well let’s be honest, they breed like rabbits themselves so those dogs aren’t never getting nurtured .
There should have been a meeting BEFORE the fair. Why not discuss expectations, reasons for possible arrest and get all involved on the same page? Why wait until there is a problem?
You all do know that this was made about 10 years ago there just reposting them..
we’ve evolved much more then back then😂
Could have packed the stew, why have her drive 2 hours? Gezzzz 😕
she didn't drive 2 hours she got lost she only drove 10 mi but she couldn't find them cuz she wasn't going down the right road
I was thinking he knew it was a two week trip… he didn’t think of snacks???
Those travelers have more heart and pride than any of the average citizens. Beautiful dress for a beautiful princessz😇
You'd think that they could provide the Bride with a bench to sit on at the reception. No high back of the chair to have to deal with. Hoops of the skirt just go over the bench completely. Hope a Wedding Planner reads this. Love all these videos as I'm Irish on my father's side.
What does the mother do if the older girls have to take care of the younger ones.
Sit and do nothing that's the whole point she has the kids can't get her long talons messed up can she..
Do you mean, what do they do when the oldest girl gets married and moves out? I expect the work goes to the next-oldest. Same thing that happens in Quiverfull families in the U.S.
Making more little travelers on the flat of her back
Mad respect to the traveler leader! He is so kind and respectful, even with his wife (it’s def not great! Expecting her to drive that far for them just to eat BUT!!!! He has been the nicest man I have seen so far in this show with woman/his wife atleast on camera) and that goes a long way to show the settlers what travelers can be like. It’s like race, religion, etc. just because a few or a lot of them are one way doesn’t mean that everyone is that way.
Are you sure on that? Irish travellers are 60 times more likely to have a criminal record than average Irish citizens.
he obviously charmed you, probably has a criminal record as long as your arm.
I'm in love it video
That’s so funny they said Princess and the frog because the second I seen the petals I said “huh kinda looks like Tianas dress” 🤣 wellllll I was right
If they act respectfully they will get it back. They have a reputation but it can be turned around if they work on it.i walked 100ms from a camp on Public land in the Netherlands and they chase you and swear and throw things.
So what is your plan to turn around their 30 generation history and reputation?
Those Dresses are so BEAUTIFUL
Yeah if u want 2 look like a meringue!!
For all the money that is spent- why don't they pool their money together and spend some of that money to open a Wedding venue that only caters to gypsy weddings with dressing rooms and reception area. they can employ whoever they want too and never worry about that again.
Thelma uses them as much as they use her obviously, without them most of her business would probably be gone so she's going to defend them for the most part. she's never going to say bad things about them, she's kind of sketchy too.
Them poor horses
I love this show, at least it's never not interesting.
And it's funny
And drama! dont froget drama
we love drama haha
They would kick anyone out of the hotel if they are loud and unruly they have other customers after all, have a bad experience at a hotel and you wouldn't return. Rather remove 1 family than lose 10 others. Clearly the landlord of the pub that closed had a bad experience the year before, and hundreds of pounds of damage would be a reason to not take the risk again. It's such a shame, but they have a business to run, and anyone else would be barred for life.
He says people dread the word gypsy and he doesn’t know why,,, oh you know very well why, Thelma defends them because they’ve made her very rich, personally I would avoid like the plague and where do they get the money for these weddings, it’s not like they have the education to have a highly paid job, i don’t understand where this money comes from
It's not nice to be kicked off but I think that there's a reason, a right reason, they are loud and in the hotel they are not the only ones. They just don't know how to behave "properly". But it is not their fault, they never learned that. I mean they seem pretty loud.
You are responsible for your own individual actions. Assaulting venue staff and destroying a venue ensures you will never get service again.
The dresses for the pippins are remarkable!! Most focus on the brides, but they are sure all are stunning!!! 🤣💕🥴😭
The way this “man” talks to his wife makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. She is your wife not a dog or your “meals in wheels” provider. He is unbearably rude.
Can the gypsy community open up their own venues if they keep experiencing issues or will the government not allow them?
In theory, yes. In practice they would have to declare tax and deal with banking. Most are at best illiterate. You also need to be of good character to either hold or apply for a liqour lisence. Then you have to apply for planning permission for a venue......locals won't allow that because of the trouble it draws. Worse than that travellers have bad credit histories. Totally undesirable in an area
I come from northern England I now have lived in Kent uk for 12 years and I am an outsider
The problem is more that a few have been bad but as always those few gave bad names it happens in all thing not just gypsies. My motto is live and let live I like a quite life.
The few? You need to check your numbers. You are far out 80% of traveller males over 22 years old have criminal records.
Children marrying children...hmmm!
The hotels & venues on the east coast in the 🇺🇸 refuse to do business with Gypsies also. I've seen the damage. I totally understand why. I'm not saying every Gypsy or Traveler do that but unfortunately many do.
I have nothing against anybody but the mess and disruption some of them leave and they have no respect
