Hi PattiAnne, As a woman myself, who hasn't worn any makeup at alll since I was 19, I also feel that very few people actually need to wear makeup. However, this style is extremely popular at traveller weddings, and almost a forgone fact at Muslim weddings too, so we can hardly deny a bride her chosen look on her wedding day, can we?
@jeannedenbigh8919 Maybe yes, maybe no, as Travellers are often less "connected' initially due to the fact that they previously wouldn't have spent time alone together.
Do couples ever spend time together on their wedding days? I have been photographing weddings professionally for 23 years, and can honestly say that, apart from Muslim weddings where they sit on a stage together to be endlessly photographed and videoed woth all their respective families and friends, its actually really hard ti naturally capture a bride and groom together without requesting their joint appearance away from the guests!
I hope that wasn't directed at me, but rather at those who constantly feel superior to Travellers? Sadly,, too many people are quick to criticise Travellers - for their differences - rather that to embrace them for the very best parts of their culture. Everyone is happy to be entertained, but very few stop to think that these are real people with feelings, that they are laughing at! So I agree with you Christine, that it's not nice to do this.
I don't think there is any cause of concern, though, particularly about the way the groom was standing, as that's the standard way most traveller grooms feel comfortable. They don't have the same feelings about that as many others have, you see.
@@ReelLifePhotos Yes, it shows. classless.. Later on in the evening with a guts full of alcohol there will be one almighty punch up, just for fun of course..
Traveller rarely do look at each other during rhe vows as they are concentrating hard on copying what the officiant is asking them to say. Yes, the bride isn't much given to smiling anyway. That's just how she is.. xx
Not at all, Nick. Travellers rarely act the same as you would expect from your own experiences. They rarely have a chance to be alone together prior to their marriage, so they are always a little shy together on their wedding day. The bride is like that normally anyway, but was also a little stressed, as expected.
@@ReelLifePhotos "rarely have a chance to be alone together prior to their marriage" is something I was aware of so that's why I thought it could be an arranged marriage..thanks for the info!
That gown is so heavy and that little tiny woman is trying to hold up all that weight of the dress! Some even end up passing out from the weight of the dress.
@shellybeals2806 Very true! They also usually have to pad their waist and hips with disposable nappies, to protect them from bruising, which quite shocked me at first, but now I can see why they do it!
I understand what you mean. It's a very popular style of makeup for gypsies and Muslims alike, though, and has been for over a decade. The bride likes it, so that's all that really matters, isn't it?
Many girls and women love false eyelashes, but they do make it harder to get a clear view of their eyes from a photographer's point of view. The smallest blink and the eyes are totally obscured, but I can't change fashions myself.
That's probably because they are not used to public displays of emotion, Carol, bearing in mind too, that travellers don't get to spend time alone together, prior to marriage.
@Lisalisag2023 Very true! Muslims also have the same system, and I know many who have found this a huge wrench. At Muslim weddings, it's traditional for the bride to start crying her eyes out as she walks out of her wedding reception into the waiting car that will usually be taking her to live with her husband's family, away from her parents! Travellers and Muslims, share many traditions and cultural norms!
Yes, I also never recognise most brides oncd their make-up has been removed, and they are in their normal clothes with their everyday hairstyle. I think that must be the point about dressing up for a wedding, to become your ideal self? Not that that is something I would do, but most seem to aspire to their idea of glamour on their wedding day, don't they?.
So what! We all make different choices in life, which is what makes it interesting. We can't all be the same, can we? I have never smoked in my life, but it isn't helpful to them comparing them to either myself or to yourself.
Oh, really? I think it's only because you are not used to this style, Susan, as its immensely popular for almost all Muslim and Traveller weddings, and has been for at least 2 decades in my personal experience..
Yea, the groom even had a smoke WHILE signing the contract! Even I as an atheist am sorry for that priest. He tried his best to give this very sad event a little appearance of joy. Unfortunately no-one cared ...
@ritajaklitsch7559 I had to laugh at the bit where you say that even you, as an Atheist, felt that his smoking (vaping?) in the church was wrong! I'm not sure the priest noticed, as I didn't either, at the time, even though I've caught it on camera!
Obviously, that's rather funny, as I very much doubt she would have had the time, or inclination to drink! Men get ready quickly, then go to the pub, but women take their time and rarely drink at all until it's all over, if then!
They probably don't! (know what they are supposed to be doing), which is not really surprising, as its quite daunting being up in front of a crowd of people, if it's all unfamiliar.
Also, Mary, I think I'd probably be messing with my hair too , if I had such an elaborate hairstyle and wanted to be sure that it was still in place. It's just nerves...
Oh dear! I didn't notice others not smiling, just the bride, who was more concerned about her appearance and isn't a natural smiler , particularly when stressed. Not every one can enjoy the process of getting married, but I'm still hopeful for the couple's happiness.
A few people have said that, but it wasn't. I've never heard of an arranged marriage in the Traveller community either. They are sometimes expected to marry if they've formed a relationship already, though.
Yes, everybody is coming to this conclusion, which could have a grain of truth in it, but on the other hand, they would have chosen to be together, and may just feel uncomfortable being the centre of attention.
@johnflowers783 Oh, a fair bit, but then most wedding hairstyles need to last the full day, but then this one is also very well pinned, so doesn't usually have a problem staying in place. Things tend to be seen as weird, only if we are not familiar with them, which of course I am, as I see this style very frequently.
@@ReelLifePhotos Yes. Their culture is hundreds of years old and is perfectly normal to them. They all looked stunning and I wish them very best wishes and happiness for their future. ✨
The bride looked so depressed until she smiled at the end, didn't look like they were in love. Plus the hair I wonder if it's natural cos it looks like it weighs a tonne plus God knows how many cans of hairspray were used
The bride is just that kind of person, so not depressed at all, but super aware of her image. I'm glad you at least found one part where she smiled, though! Travellers don't tend to show public displays of romantic gestures, and have usually had very little time alone together prior to their wedding. As for the hair, the styles are created by talented hairdressers who have plenty of experience of this style, and yes of course they build up the hair with extensions, and often insert a central core, around which the build the added layers. It's a real art! Most of my Muslim clients also style their hair in a similar manner, except that they then cover it loosely with a veil, rather than leaving it all on show.
The groom looks happy, but the Bride looks unhappy 😭💔 She is more worried 😟 about how she looks.I bet that this was an arranged marriage. They don't even look at each other when saying their vows 😮 Very odd.
You were right in that the bride wasn't a smiley sort of bride, and that her appearance was of great importance to her, as far as I could gather on the day, but then evert bride wants to look her best on her wedding day, don't they! However, we can't all be smiley people - as much as I prefer to photograph or video that kind of bride - can we? In any case, traveller weddings are different, in that the couples concerned have had very little time alone before their marriage - if at all - in order to prevent "temptations". Travellers have high moral standards in that respect, you see, so don't worry about their marriage, as I, for one, am very hopeful that it will work well for them. Thank you for thinking about them too. xx
PS Travellers always choose their own partners, as far as I am aware. It's only Muslims who opt for an arranged marriage, and even that is less likely in the UK in this day and age.
Of course, but as they will have never been allowed to be alone together prior to the wedding, it is to be expected. Travellers also don't like public delays of emotion at most weddings I've seen. They never 'do' the traditional kiss in the church, either.
The bride and groom stood that far apart in church I'm surprised they could reach each other to put the rings on...Then she sat with the women at the reception playing on her phone, and he was nowhere to be seen. No eye contact, no kiss or hug. It all seemed as though it was a fashion parade rather than a wedding. But your dress was beautiful, and so were you, even though you never smiled. Good luck to you both
Men and women sitting apart is normal at traveller weddings, neither do they kiss or hug in front of their guests, but, like you, I also wish them well.
I know they didn't smile, but they probably felt too stressed, as its not easy standing up in front of a crowd for an almost two hour, very formal, church ceremony!
I understand @Shungabali. It's not something I personally would wear myself, but know how much brides LOVE to be seen in these huge false eyelashes. It was just for one day, and it made her feel good, so that's all that really matters, isn't it?
@@ReelLifePhotos sorry but not all brides, I've been a bride myself and I've friends and family that have been brides too😄 Anyway whatever she likes is fine 😀🩷
Ok. I probably meant to say that nearly all brides whose weddings I photograph... I personally never even wear makeup at all, only when I was a teenager!
Had to laugh at that, Sharon! I also rarely recognise them when they come to collect their wedding albums afterwards, but they absolutely love these styles, so they deserve the freedom to choose their own fashions, don't they?
So many negative comment on here, she had the wedding she wanted. she was no doubt nervous and stressed about everything, maybe that’s why there wasn’t much smiling. I wish them all the luck in their married life.
The not-too-smiling bride looks rather uncomfortable in her dress and with her hairstyle, which isn't very pretty. And the. false eyelashes, what a horror, she shouldn't have added that, it's awful.
Hi Sue. I'm also not fond of fake eyelashes, but they all love them and are prepared to suffer the weight of them and the sticky glue, as they feel it makes them look more glamorous. Almost all brides I video or photograph tend to wear the biggest set possible, but it does make it hard to see their actual eyes at all, unfortunately, as one hint of a blink, and the eyes are completely obscured. I can't tell them that , though!
That's actually quite normal in some traveller weddings, as they don't really have a chance to get to know each other that well, since pre-marital relationships are not allowed or even being left alone together. It could also be her personality anyway, as she was more into her mirror image than expected.
They probably barely even know each other! They get their first alone time after they are married! That’s when they start getting to know each other and “hope” love follows, eventually! Plus she is expected to be pregnant soon after the wedding.
All of the women (including the bride) seemed so uncomfortable in their dresses--tugging, pulling, et cetera. Bride and groom didn't even look at each other while reciting vows. A lot of spray tans and entirely too much makeup and hair spray. Why?
Good question, Donna. Obviously, the clothes traveller women wear at weddings, like anyone else, are not what they usually wear every day. However, they all love to look tanned, and with British weather being what it is, spray tan is their solution. ( it's safer than sessions on a sunbed) . Many other cultures want to look white, and wear very pale makeup (Pakistanis & Chinese, for example) so we are never happy with how we are, unfortunately! The bride was very aware of her looks, so probably had that in mind. She is also not a smiley sort of person, as far as I know.
The hairstyles that they love, require hair spray to keep them in place. It's a very popular fashion for gypsy and Muslim brides. I see it at almost all of those kinds of weddings. The same applies to the makeup style.
As for them not looking at each other, travellers don't have a chance to be alone together prior to their marriage, so it's embarrassing for them to show emotion in front of a crowd of people and they rarely ever do a first kiss in church. I hope these answers help you?
This is a typical “travellers” wedding! They generally marry very young (female’s 16yo) because they aren’t allowed to be alone together until they are married!
Not a smile from the bride, not a kiss, and they both looked awkward. I don't think that was a very good idea as they didn't look the least bit happy, even at the carvery.
Now, that's interesting that you even watched them at the carvery too. I think the bride has a certain personality that isn't given much to smiling at all. Travellers rarely have a kiss at the ceremony, though, but I'm sure they'll have made up for it later when alone together.
@suesmith4289 That's great advice, Sue! I wish tbat on every couple whise wedding I shoot, though in the past 23 years as a wedding photographer and videographer, I have shot two or three bride's weddings twice, and one eve for the third Time, but to my knowledge, those ones are all very happy with their final choice!
The church is decorated horribly it's very tacky like a las Vegas wedding chapel how can this be allowed Obviously not a Catholic church as this would be frowned upon and wouldn't be allowed less is more
Well, Loulou, the church officiants were kind enough to make the bride and her family happy, as instead of decorating a reception venue, they chose to decorate the church. The close family went for a simple carvery meal afterwards, which, as it was open to the general public, would not have been suitable for their wedding photos. This was created with love, and it made them happy to pose inside the church for their family group photos. If you were the one getting married, you might choose to do things differently, but they chose to be uniquely creative, so what's not to like about that?
Hi Debra. You sure have an expressive way of saying things. I really had to laugh at that! I also am not a fan of fake eyelashes, but brides always seem to love them. They go through a lot of trouble getting them attached, so are quite brave, really, False eyelashes make it hard for me, as a photographer too, as even the slightest eye movement causes the eye to be partially - or completely - obscured. However, I am unlikely to be able to change this very popular fashion
everything about the bride is fake. she kept kicking the front of the gown in order to not trip. they both look unhappy. and what’s with the women in orange? what was in her hair? that’s not a hat.
The little bridesmaids looked adorable, their dresses were gorgeous. The bride’s dress was lovely but unfortunately I feel her natural beauty was diminished by the far too heavy makeup!
@RosemaryHart-mg6kt Hi Rosemary, Thank you for your sweet and sensitively worded comment. Yes, she was wearing very heavy makeup, which is obviously not a natural look, but Travellers really go for this particular style. They almost always choose a makeup artist who specialises in this art. If you've ever been to a Muslim wedding, you'll spot the similarities as they, too, wear the heavy foundation and over emphasised eyebrows. Similarly, the hairstyles follow this same "fashion". Really and truly, very few young ladies actually "need" to wear makeup at all, but it's a multi-million pound /dollar industry, which is unlikely to change, so as most people follow what others in their cultural group do, this look is followed by by this bride too.
Well, Travellers don't see it that way at all. After all, it's a perfectly natural pose particularly when nervously standing in front of so many people, all with their eyes focused on you!
Are they not allowed to look at one another even when they say their vowels I watch the ice guy never smiled. She looks like she doesn’t want to be there, but I bet he’s got money and that’s why she’s marrying the guy. At the reception she’s with the girls and so far I don’t even see where the groom is there. She sits checking her emails. That definitely wasn’t a marriage of love.
Yes, of course they can look at each other, but in general, travellers haven't had time to build that kind of relationship before getting married. They would not have been allowed to be alone together beforehand, you see. If they do attempt to run away together to be alone, they are then expected to marry. Travellers have a very strict moral code regarding relationships. It's also a tradition for the guys to sit separately from the girls at the reception, and more females than males attend anyway. I think she was looking at her social media, rather than emails, though, and traveller girls do tend to upload loads of pics of themselves so she would have also wanted to see ones others had posted of her too.
Exactly, Finanzen, which is why they tend to marry young. They share many codes and wedding styles with Muslims too; the hair and makeup styles, for example, as well as the moral code and being family orientated.
Thanks Audrey. I'm glad you liked the finished results! I don't necessarily think she looks older styled this way though, but possibly just that you associate this hairstyle with a bygone era?
That's fairly standard, I find, in traveller weddings, possibly as couples don't develop the kind of relationships prior to their marriage, that we now take for granted, as they are not allowed to be alone together beforehand. People get stressed easily, too, and lengthy church services are never going to be easy for guests with young children in tow! (I have vastly shortened the sermons and bible reading elements)
Thats a very good question! I didn't notice that too much during the filming, as I was also taking photos, but they were most likely not too comfortable, being stared at by everyone. Travellers don't udually get any time alone together before getting married, so they generally don't initially have the same bonds as other couples at this stage, but they develop them soon afterwards. They also almost never have the usual public kiss, after being pronounced man and wife, as don't like public displays of intimacy.
No, travellers don't do arranged marriages. Sometimes, though, they decide to run away together, then they know if they do that, the wedding will follow very quickly.
Lots of people keep saying that, but she was fine afterwards. I think she was just stressed out with all the arrangements. She might also not be a smiley sort of person. Weddings put a lot of pressure on brides, as everyone is looking at them, and in any case, travellers will not have previously spent time alone with their fiancé.
@@dianepeters8775 I'm sure he's seen her before, fortunately! I think it's the same after every wedding, as I always struggle to recognise the bride when I see her afterwards when she comes to choose the wedding photos for her album!
This wedding was gorgeous but looked forced and that one lady in the dress did not cover her breasts properly at all made it very tacky. i only hope their marriage lasts a long long time and I do wish them the best. All the harstyles were amazing. Sorry that the dress on the one attendant drew my attention so negatively. Again very gorgeous over all and many blessings to the couple!
Thanks, Marianna. I'm glad you mostly liked it. They chose to be together, so were not forced. I see more bare skin on a Saturday night in Leeds than on display here, so it's not something that bothers me, personally, but I accept your point of view if it bothers you.
Well, I must say that no-one present at the time thought like that. I don't think you can have watched many Traveller weddings to have perceived them in that way.
Oooh, catty! It's a fashion followed by many of my traveller brides, actually, and is also extremely popular with almost all my Muslim brides too. I personally never wear any makeup, even as a bride, but if that's what a bride likes, why not let her be happy?
Well although it may seem rude in certain cultures, it's not seen as an issue at all with Travellers. After all, what do you do with your hands when you are nervously standing in front of so many people, all with their eyes on you? He's young, so not that experienced in life or social expectations.
Well, no, actually! Believe it or not, it's the height of fashion for Muslim brides and gypsy brides alike, and has been so for over a decade. I just guess you haven't ever seen it before, that's all.
No, travellers rarely ever have a first kiss in church. It's because they would previously not have spent time alone together, so they are certainly not going to be up for a public didplay of emotion like that.
What is true love? Surely it's more than "butterflies' and endearing looks? Time will tell, but if she's prepared to look after him when he's an old man or vice versa, that, for me, would be a better indicator of "true love"!
Very strange. Neither the bride or groom look excited or happy, she acts uncomfortable and like her hair is falling and fake eyelashes are to heavy to fully pen her eyes. What is in the groom’s pockets that he is guarding?
I quite like the way you expressed this, but it's how they like it, and just the way they are. The hands in pockets thing is just because that is what they are used to, and no-one has taught them any differently, so it doesn't bother me at all. The big eyelashes are much loved by many brides top, but yes, they do make it difficult to actually see the eyes, themselves!!
That's a very good question. Why does anyone ever wear makeup at all? I think the answer to your question is fashion, where everyone in a certain group or subgroup copies what everyone else is doing. It then becomes the norm for that particular group of people. I personally never wear makeup, not even on my own wedding day, but travellers and almost all my Muslim brides, absolutely adore this style of makeup, so it's their chosen way of presenting themselves to the world.
I do so hope you are not right, though yes, maybe she is self-centered, You must have looked pretty closely and are good at picking up signs of character.
Must admit these women are beautiful love the outfits and the brides dress for a traveller is stunning the kids are cute and well behaved hope they both have a long happy 💓marriage
Now that's the kindest thing anyone has said about this couple and their wedding, Angie! You are the best! Thank you SO much for redressing the balance!
It amazes me that all the women get so dressed up and the men are there in t-shirts or shirtsleeves and sweat pants. And the first thing she does after walking out of the church is light up a cigarette. Wow.
Thats traveller traditions for you, Karen! The women love to dress up, but many may just come straight for their work and sit on the sidelines anyway. They might enjoy a drink at the reception, but otherwise, weddings really aren't their thing!
@cynthiat6505 Aw thanks, Cynthia! Yes, she was very insecure/ bodyy conscious. There's a lot of pressure on being a bride, isn't there! Have you seen this wedding in this link?ua-cam.com/video/T-_oQKkAjHs/v-deo.html
I had to laugh at that! Yes, brides can get over-consuned with the while idea of a wedding, particularly if that's all they've dreamed of since they were a child playing with dolls, but as its very true that a wedding doesn't make a marriage!
Oh my goodness! To each their own, I suppose, but every single woman there, without exception, was either pulling her dress down to cover herself, or pulling her dress up to cover herself! Sorry, but if you have to hold your boobs in the dress, you shouldn't be wearing that dress! The bride is beautiful, but she looked absolutely miserable. I could only watch to 26 minutes mark! Weddings should be joyful and they didn't even look at each other when saying the vows. Best of luck, y'all.
Had to laugh at your description of the pulling up and pulling down! However, travellers are very strict about their relationships, so however "daring" their clothes appear to be, they believe in marriage first, so let them at least have a bit of fun with their creative outfits!
Definitely no class at this wedding……every lady with a plunging neckline (including the bride), were constantly pulling up their dress, the bride and groom never looked at each other especially during the actual vows, the groom was vaping when signing the marriage license, the bride smoking a cigarette as soon as she walked out of the church. I know gypsy weddings are over the top. All of the ladies wore stunning dresses, then had such unbecoming behavior.
That's life, Eudi..We are all different. I personally loved all their colourful and creative outfits, and to be honest, most of them had great figures, so why not show them off to accentuate their assets? Weddings are usually the only time they will be wearing their gorgeous clothes, as from day to day, their lives may not be quite so colourful.
The Bride and groom don't look at each other while the Priest talks... Are they in an arranged marriage? They don't look as if they are in love... My friend got married and she couldn't stop kissing her groom all during the ceremony ... they were so adorable and so much in love.
I understand your concern. Travellers don't have time to develop that kind of deep relationship as they are not allowed to spend time alone together prior to marriage. They also almost never have a first kiss in public, either! They don't do arranged marriages, but they are sometimes told to get married if they have broken the conduct rules and run away together. I'm glad your friend has such a beautiful relationship, of course, but this couple will hopefully develop that in time. The bride wasn't really a smiley sort of person, anyway!
@ritajaklitsch7559 They often rush into marriage, but they do form good bonds over time. Yes, several do fail, but then not all marriages are hunky-dory in the wider community either.
True, Rita, but that's what you do, if you are focused on getting your words right. Travellers also haven't usually had enough time - or almost any time at all - alone together prior to their marriage, so they generally haven't yet formed an intimate relationship, which explains why they don't keep looking at each other in that way during a long and stressful ( for them) church ceremony.
Yes, you are right. It's simply lack of education. Its hard to break a cycle if that is how their parents were like to them. I don't condone it, but they simply don't know any differently, unfortunately!
Yes, lots of people have commented on that, but that may just be their personalities- in the bride's case, at least anyway. Travellers also don't generally get to know their partner as well as we might beforehand, since they don't allow pre-marotal relationships
It’s strange the bride would pick cream color for the bridesmaids dress? I don’t think that they’re being like snotty or anything. Most of these are arranged marriages. They meet a couple times and then the families get together. Talk and decide if this is a marriage match. Cut they’re just getting to know each other. You can see the little smiles on the shyness, that what I see
That’s the most beautiful dress I.ve seen, beautiful bride, all the bridesmaids looked gorgeous too. The church looked stunning with the floral display, wow. A fabulous wedding. ✨
Thank you Christina! That's really kind of you. Yes, they put a lot of thought into making it as special as possible, since they weren't having a reception afterwards, other than a quick visit to a carvery for a few of the close family and best friends,
@joycealdred1277 Hi Joyce,, that's actually pretty standard af Traveller weddings, as they have"t had time beforehand to develop that kind of relationship, as they are not allowed to be alone together prior to their marriage.
Brides always hoist their dress up when walking, but yes, I agree that is a pity, as it doesn't really matter if the dress gets dirty. It's only going to be worn that one day, anyway, and has to be professionally cleaned afterwards, before being packed away or sold on.
I understand. Many people have made a similar comment, but its how they like it. This style is very popular with travellers and Muslims, so I see it all the time.
@cherryclarke9537 You could be right! However, young men tend not to be as emotionally mature or "into" weddings, as women are in general, so he might have just been stressed with the long church service. It was a lot longer than shown here, you see.
The eyebrows , eyelashes, hair, and lips are all a little over the top. She looked very uncomfortable in her dress and veil. They said their viwes to the priest instead of each other. Very different wedding.
Yes, it's bound to be very different from a mainstream wedding, Deborah, as Travellers have a different style of dressing. They had to focus hard on what was being said so that they got their vows right. A lot of people struggle to do that though, not just this couple.
Yes, that's usually the case, but not always. It's a stressful day, particularly if it's a very long church service, but they always let their hair down and relax once they get to the reception.
I'm sure they'll relax once they settle into their new home though, Christine. Its a big change in their lives, and the start of their relationship really.
I'm guessing you asked that because you felt her styling was too old-fashioned, but actually, these hair and makeup styles are what almost all traveller brides love . Similarly, all my Muslum brides, too!

@@ReelLifePhotos "rarely have a chance to be alone together prior to their marriage" is something I was aware of so that's why I thought it could be an arranged marriage..thanks for the info!
Aha! Well, at least you know that they chose to be together! xx
All the bride is worried about in the church is her gown and hair. So self absorbed
Most likely so, but then it is a stressful experience and all eyes are on her.
The eyelashes and eyebrows ruin how naturally beautiful she is. She doesn't need all that on her face in order to impress.

@@ReelLifePhotosit’s also often means they will be leaving their family to live elsewhere for the first time in her life
@Lisalisag2023 Very true!
I would love to see her when she takes off the two pounds of makeup .
@@ReelLifePhotos 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
That Hair piece looks as if it weighs A ton. Her husband probably won't recognize her when she takes all that off on her wedding night.
Not as heavy as you think! It's only ideally one additional hairpiece, a lightweight infill "bun", and a lot of artistry!
Always hand in pockets. They take them out in the pub. One hand for lifting the pint. The other to hold the cigarettes
So what! We all make different choices in life, which is what makes it interesting. We can't all be the same, can we? I have never smoked in my life, but it isn't helpful to them comparing them to either myself or to yourself.
The up do hairstyles are awful as looked enormous. Far too big and they were all walking around like their heads are going to fall off.
Oh, really? I think it's only because you are not used to this style, Susan, as its immensely popular for almost all Muslim and Traveller weddings, and has been for at least 2 decades in my personal experience..

It would be bizarre if we didn't know what smokers are like! They always do that!
Ya'll, the brides dad was checking his phone on the front row. Everyone looks miserable about the wedding....but ready for the Reception. 🍻
Well, a long church service ( and I cut out loads!) can be very tiring/ boring, particularly if you are not used to these kinds of formalities!
The mother of the bride looks like she already had acouple of drinks.
Obviously, that's rather funny, as I very much doubt she would have had the time, or inclination to drink! Men get ready quickly, then go to the pub, but women take their time and rarely drink at all until it's all over, if then!
The bride must have a few for Dutch courage, she was swaying while the priest was speaking
No, I very much doubt she had been drinking, as I was with her while she was getting ready.
The groom and his groomsmen have their hands in their pockets and don’t act like they know what’s going on!
They probably don't! (know what they are supposed to be doing), which is not really surprising, as its quite daunting being up in front of a crowd of people, if it's all unfamiliar.
There is more hair in that wedding to cover all the alopecia patients in the US.
Love it! And why not...! xx
The bride is to busy messing with her hair. She sure doesn’t look happy.
Yes, but then I think that is just how she is. I've met at least 2 brides in my 24 year career, who never smiled at all.
Also, Mary, I think I'd probably be messing with my hair too , if I had such an elaborate hairstyle and wanted to be sure that it was still in place. It's just nerves...
Why isn't anyone smiling and happy? Looks more like a funeral.
Oh dear! I didn't notice others not smiling, just the bride, who was more concerned about her appearance and isn't a natural smiler , particularly when stressed. Not every one can enjoy the process of getting married, but I'm still hopeful for the couple's happiness.
They both look miserable. Why get married they look like they hate each other
Ooooh! It definitely wasn't like that! She just wasn't a smiley sort of person!
It almost looks like an arranged marriage
A few people have said that, but it wasn't. I've never heard of an arranged marriage in the Traveller community either. They are sometimes expected to marry if they've formed a relationship already, though.
Awkward , not looked at each other once
Yes, everybody is coming to this conclusion, which could have a grain of truth in it, but on the other hand, they would have chosen to be together, and may just feel uncomfortable being the centre of attention.
The way the men stand with their hands in their pockets
Yes, that's how they're used to standing. It's not seen the same way in traveller culture, as it does to you and many other people, so it's fine.
They're hanging onto their wallets
@cazrelda169 Ha ha! Well no, they have their own reasons, but decorating the church so beautifully definitely wasn't cheap!
None of them seem unable to function without a mobile phone in their hands, ridiculous.
That's the way of the world we live in! On trains, buses and everywhere, it's just the same. We are almost all guilty of that!
Would love to know how much hairspray was used by the bridal party. Too weird for my taste.
Absolutely fabulous ✨
@christinalogan311 Thank you. It's OK to be different, and many of us love to be curious about other cultures isn't that so?

These are travellers not Gypsy’s and usual they have arranged marriages maybe that’s why they are unhappy!!

Very odd.
Do these 2 even know each other ?
Of course, but as they will have never been allowed to be alone together prior to the wedding, it is to be expected. Travellers also don't like public delays of emotion at most weddings I've seen. They never 'do' the traditional kiss in the church, either.

Where's the love? I saw absolutely NO affection there...especially on the face of the bride. I didn't see her look at the groom one time.
@pamcollins1651 Well, almost spot on, though pregnancy is not necessarily expected, it is usually the outcome!
All of the women (including the bride) seemed so uncomfortable in their dresses--tugging, pulling, et cetera. Bride and groom didn't even look at each other while reciting vows. A lot of spray tans and entirely too much makeup and hair spray. Why?
Good question. Reminded me of a Barbie doll.
Beautiful normal looking bridal gown... Bride doesn't appear too happy...maybe the weight of the lashes or hair....
I think she is like that anyway, and very image-aware, and we can't all be smiley people, can we?
Glad you liked her wedding gown though!
Ahh, as long as their in love with each other, doesn't matter, be happy, look after each other through thick and thin.👨❤️👨

The church is decorated horribly it's very tacky like a las Vegas wedding chapel how can this be allowed
Obviously not a Catholic church as this would be frowned upon and wouldn't be allowed
less is more
Well, Loulou, the church officiants were kind enough to make the bride and her family happy, as instead of decorating a reception venue, they chose to decorate the church.
PS a lot of viewers have been super impressed with the way the church was decorated, if you'd like to check...?

I'm sure she loves her husband, or she wouldn't have married him. It was her choice!
Cant believe she married such a rude man! Couldnt take his hands out his pockets!!!!!!!!
They have very strict rules for the girls, men no touch till wedding.
Exactly, Finanzen, which is why they tend to marry young. They share many codes and wedding styles with Muslims too; the hair and makeup styles,
for example, as well as the moral code and being family orientated.
@brendabruce1474 Why do you say that, Brenda, and what does it really matter, anyway?
@brendabruce1474 Yes, you are absolutely correct there, Brenda! Well said! Thanks! xx
The brides hair and make up make her look so much more older, they all looked so nice when they finished dressing.
Thanks Audrey. I'm glad you liked the finished results! I don't necessarily think she looks older styled this way though, but possibly just that you associate this hairstyle with a bygone era?
Those eye lashes are too big for her face, she looks spooky.
Agreed. However they all just love them, so let them enjoy a day of make-believe/ fantasy model land.
It was beautiful but sad. The bride & groom weren't even smiling or anyone else?
That's fairly standard, I find, in traveller weddings, possibly as couples don't develop the kind of relationships prior to their marriage, that we now take for granted, as they are not allowed to be alone together beforehand. People get stressed easily, too, and lengthy church services are never going to be easy for guests with young children in tow! (I have vastly shortened the sermons and bible reading elements)
I hope you still enjoyed watching it though, Jeanette?
If they couldn’t look at each other, stand close together, or smile, their wedding night is going to be a disaster!
Oooh, I very much doubt it!
Why arent they looking at each other?
Thats a very good question! I didn't notice that too much during the filming, as I was also taking photos, but they were most likely not too comfortable, being stared at by everyone. Travellers don't udually get any time alone together before getting married, so they generally don't initially have the same bonds as other couples at this stage, but they develop them soon afterwards. They also almost never have the usual public kiss, after being pronounced man and wife, as don't like public displays of intimacy.
Thank you Kate! xx

Lots of people keep saying that, but she was fine afterwards. I think she was just stressed out with all the arrangements. She might also not be a smiley sort of person.
What
is in the groom’s pockets that he is guarding?
I quite like the way you expressed this, but it's how they like it, and just the way they are. The hands in pockets thing is just because that is what they are used to, and no-one has taught them any differently, so it doesn't bother me at all. The big eyelashes are much loved by many brides top, but yes, they do make it difficult to actually see the eyes, themselves!!
Why do they wear so much makeup
That's a very good question. Why does anyone ever wear makeup at all? I think the answer to your question is fashion, where everyone in a certain group or subgroup copies what everyone else is doing. It then becomes the norm for that particular group of people. I personally never wear makeup, not even on my own wedding day, but travellers and almost all my Muslim brides, absolutely adore this style of makeup, so it's their chosen way of presenting themselves to the world.

The bride is marrying the dress, not sure who the groom is marrying.
I had to laugh at that! Yes, brides can get over-consuned with the while idea of a wedding, particularly if that's all they've dreamed of since they were a child playing with dolls, but as its very true that a wedding doesn't make a marriage!
Some of theses brides are only 16 when they wed
Yes, but not this one. 16 is a legal age to marry, but it's usually healthier to start a family in a woman's 20s rather than her 30s or 40s anyway.
PS you did well to watch 25 minutes anyway!
Those brows n lashes 🫣
Yes, they love to accentuate their best features.
@@ReelLifePhotos OMG, this is so sad!
@ritajaklitsch7559 They often rush into marriage, but they do form good bonds over time. Yes, several do fail, but then not all marriages are hunky-dory in the wider community either.
@@ReelLifePhotos Yes, you are so right about that...
@@Dakiniwoman Thanks! xx
Why doesn't she look happy 🤔
@jessarvidson5194 Oh, that's just her well controlled personality. Not everyone is smiley person, but she was still happy.
@ReelLifePhotos ahhh OK thank you for getting back to me 😊
@jessarvidson5194 Glad you understand now.. x
How strange she never looked at her husband while saying the vows she kept looking at the minister she never even looked happy.
Maybe their tradition and her day before children.
@fionahenderson1650 She was more reserved and image focused really.
She looks miserable and it’s her wedding day ,she should be so happy
@@omw123wilkins5 I agree, but not everyone has that kind of personality, unfortunately. Some just never smile even on their wedding day!
28 42 this is how a loving mother picks up the child she so much love.
Yes, you are right. It's simply lack of education. Its hard to break a cycle if that is how their parents were like to them. I don't condone it, but they simply don't know any differently, unfortunately!
Bride looks as if she might keel over
Well, fortunately, she didn't! These big dresses aren't that easy to walk in!
The groom is vaping at the altar!
Wow! I never spotted that at all! Poor man, he was super stressed!
A very wired wedding, neither one of them looked happy😮😮😮
Yes, lots of people have commented on that, but that may just be their personalities- in the bride's case, at least anyway. Travellers also don't generally get to know their partner as well as we might beforehand, since they don't allow pre-marotal relationships
It’s strange the bride would pick cream color for the bridesmaids dress? I don’t think that they’re being like snotty or anything. Most of these are arranged marriages. They meet a couple times and then the families get together. Talk and decide if this is a marriage match. Cut they’re just getting to know each other. You can see the little smiles on the shyness, that what I see
The little bridesmaids were extremely well behaved and looked so cute. The groom seemed to be quite patient and kind to them which is a good sign.
Aw, that's so sweet. Thank you Claire! Well observed! xx
That’s the most beautiful dress I.ve seen, beautiful bride, all the bridesmaids looked gorgeous too. The church looked stunning with the floral display, wow. A fabulous wedding. ✨
Thank you Christina! That's really kind of you. Yes, they put a lot of thought into making it as special as possible, since they weren't having a reception afterwards, other than a quick visit to a carvery for a few of the close family and best friends,
Her vows should be said to her future husband not the priest, she wouldn’t even look at him. Was this an arranged marriage?
@Girlsparky_2 Agreed, but many brides make this error, as they struggle to copy what he's saying. No, Travellers don't do arranged marriages.
The couple did not even look at each while saying their vowes.
@joycealdred1277 Hi Joyce,, that's actually pretty standard af Traveller weddings, as they have"t had time beforehand to develop that kind of relationship, as they are not allowed to be alone together prior to their marriage.
Oh dear her hair started falling down then her dress that she hoisted up. Margaret looked so miserable.
Brides always hoist their dress up when walking, but yes, I agree that is a pity, as it doesn't really matter if the dress gets dirty. It's only going to be worn that one day, anyway, and has to be professionally cleaned afterwards, before being packed away or sold on.
I was worried that the one lady would pop out of her dress top. It looked like she was holding the top in place several times.
Fortunately, no fashion mishaps occurred!
Not keen on the big hair at the back
I understand. Many people have made a similar comment, but its how they like it. This style is very popular with travellers and Muslims, so I see it all the time.
Thanks anyway, Sandra.
The groom does not seem to appreciate what he has been blessed with gaining a beautiful lady...
Wishing the Bride and Groom all the happiness in the world 💞👏🏻💞
@shellybeals2806 Thank you, Shelly. That's very kind of you.
They never look happy😢
Yes, that's usually the case, but not always. It's a stressful day, particularly if it's a very long church service, but they always let their hair down and relax once they get to the reception.
I'm sure they'll relax once they settle into their new home though, Christine. Its a big change in their lives, and the start of their relationship really.
AN D the bride leaves the church smoking a cigarette
Yes, smokers always do! It was a long and stressful - for them - service!
Is she 19 or 45?
I'm guessing you asked that because you felt her styling was too old-fashioned, but actually, these hair and makeup styles are what almost all traveller brides love . Similarly, all my Muslum brides, too!
Probably 16
No, she in her early 20s
Are those neck lines low enough ??? Waiting for their dresses to fall.🤔😅😅
Anna, you should walk round Leeds City centre on a Saturday night! Girls out clubbing or on a hen night, wear a lot less!
Sorry to disappoint you, as they know how to handle themselves!
