Crawfish Farming in Louisiana: The Complete Process from Farm to Table
And now for something completely different! This week we take you along on a visit to a South Louisiana crawfish farm to see, first-hand, how crawfish are caught, sorted and prepared for a Cajun crawfish boil.
In this behind the scenes tour, we'll take you to places most people will never see... we'll go out on the boat with the crawfish fisherman as he catches the crawfish, in to the warehouse where the crawfish are sorted by size, and then to the crawfish boil.
Thanks for joining us for this insider look at how crawfish make it from the farm to the table in Louisiana. This type of agribusiness is big business in this region of the USA.
An interesting fun fact that we didn't mention in the video: rice farming and crawfish farming work together. The fields are alternated between rice and crawfish, with the remainders of the harvested rice crops acting as food for the crawfish.
This agri-tour was part of the Cajun RV Rally. If you missed our video on our overall Rally experience, you can watch it here: • Visit New Iberia Louis...
During our time in New Iberia, Louisiana we also visited the world-famous Tabasco Pepper Sauce Factory. You can find that video here: • Tabasco Factory Tour |...
    🤠 Thanks For Watching!
We are Tom and Stacie Langland, known for 10 years as RV Texas Y'all.
We are Native Texans and Full-Time RVers who are all about exploring the Great State of Texas and America one campground at a time. We're on a mission to experience life, not just live it and we're bringing you along for the fun.
In 2018, we sold our house, our business and gave away just about everything we own to hit the road and see America. Our home is a 33' motorhome named Freedom. We installed an extreme solar and lithium battery setup so now we can camp just about anywhere with our dog (Star) and our cat (Astro).
Every day is a new adventure, so join us as we RV America Y'all.
    Safe Travels and Happy Camping!

My parents met y'all at the Cajun Rally ( Susan & Jesse Pitre), and they said y'all were very nice people. They also turned us on to your channel, and we like all of your videos. I also saw you guys on a Traveling Robert video since we're Pelican Heads, we thought that was great!
We also want to thank y'all big time for subscribing to our UA-cam channel! It meant a lot having y'all subscribe with as big as you guys are proving y'all are great people! Thanks again, and we look forward to watching more of your adventures! ❤

Thanks y’all, we really enjoyed getting to know your folks. They were great & loved hearing about the grandson pitching in college, that’s really cool. Hopefully we will cross paths on the road one day soon. Safe travels and happy camping! Good luck with your channel! ❤️

I love the rhythm of the crawdad farmer's work. What a fun segment! You made my mouth water. It brought back some memories. I ate my first mud bug as a toddler in Breaux Bridge, LA.

Crawdads mainly come from two areas....Louisiana and the Delta area in Calif. between S. Fran. and Sacramento....The latter is where i live....Its gone now but we used to have a really big festival called the Isleton Crawdad festival which was the best festival around anywhere here...That is where i developed my hankering for crawdads....I hear some private company now gathers up the crawdads and ships them off to wherever ....On an RV trip to NOLA i went crawdad crazy while there...Had them every way possible i think along with something i had for the very first time there....Turtle soup, SO GOOD !!!

Interesting and kind of feel bad for all of those Mud Bugs. I've never eaten crawfish, but its interesting to see how they are harvested, and processed for the meal. thanks for sharing. Grammy Kay

Very similar but for the most part, you only eat the meat in the tail.

Off colored ones. They said they are OK to eat but retailers don’t want them.

Enjoyed the video, but not the music. Music was overpowering, and the tempo was too fast for the pace of the subject matter. Keep up the hard work, and thank you for sharing.

Fair, unfortunately the 2 music subscription services we subscribe to has no Cajun music. It makes it a little tougher.

Grew up on the Mississippi Gulf Coast where crawdads are a staple. Mom was the only one of us who sucked the fat out of the heads.
(She also enjoyed the fat in lobster heads). She taught my niece, who lives in Maine, to do the same. Yuck.
