@@yuichan9747 shut up dude Chris isn't better Luke bc first of all you can't say who's "better" bc Chris might be faster /more powerful in metal but Luke is more than just a metal drummer and overall I think Luke's better bc he's more versatile (no disrespect to Chris tho I love both of em but at the end of the day Luke is king)
@@retrorewind6042 it's your opinion and that's o.k. but i can listen to metal for hours and this "exagerate wall to wall never ending blasting tempo" makes me tired in 10 minutes. So this is not metal like i use to listen. But these guys had terrific power and skills no doubt about it!!! Have a good day bro!!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
@@fabienlamour3644 this song has different genres in it but i assume you havnt listened to the rest of their music which is straight up metal. This is progressive metal which can have different genres in it besides metal
Knowing Luke for many years now. Since we were 11. I have grown far from him but still admire his genius and always have. He has taught me well and so have I to him back in the day.
For the ones that say the mix sucks, its cause they clearly just took the direct mix from the board. Meaning, the sound wasnt mixed to listen on headphones, rather the sound quality was mixed for the room he was actually playing in. As an example, most likely the snare he uses has a higher end tone and bottom end live, and the room had some echo (being a convention hall), so the mic is flat as to not increase those attributes but only bring up the volume for the room.
On headphones it sounds just ok. In that particular room it sounded 🔥!!! The term it was mixed specifically for that room/ situation or environment. Very big difference between if it would've been mixed for your studio quality headphones or for a live audience. If they would've mixed it for your listening pleasure it would've sounded like garbage for the audience who was there. Hope that educates the one's who are complaining👌
Pure genius! Another excellent Live masterpiece performance by one of the greats! I love the studio “hos down” the most because of the set that was used. But this one was pretty awesome too! It’s really incredible how he did the whole piece with doing the main rhythms of the lick, but doing entirely different things due to the unique smaller setup of the kit. I just can’t say enough of how amazing Luke Holland is!
I don't know about that one but his 7 piece is a dw collectors maple with an exotic mapa burl finish and rose gold hardware (only rose gold dw hardware ever so ur not gonna get that but it looks good with gold as well) and his sizes on the 7 piece are 22x18 kick 14x6.5 snare 8x6, 10x7, 12x8, 14x14 and 16x14 toms I hope I could help u, cheers, jojo
Ohh yes he is... It was the last song of his set if I remember correctly and he's not using heel toe he's using a mix of full leg and ankle with a little bit of swivel and that double kick is insanely fast but usually he nails it
It’s the mix. Whoever did the last few years meinl festival mix should be fired. But some other performances weren’t as bad like Chris Coleman’s or Benny grebs. But Alex rudingers sounds the absolute best with his Tama starclassic B.B. hyperdrives and he personally gets nolly to mix all his videos. Most of his videos on his channel are mixed by nolly as well and he is just the best in the business imo when it comes to drum sound and mixing. The year matt garstka performed the meinl festival I thought sounded the best out of all the meinl festivals. Not sure if it’s the same guy or not but garstkas performance with the Tama star maple kit he used sounded great and the cymbals sounded so clear and perfect especially his fat stack and extra dry China he used.
On this particular clip yes he actually did but he usually does it pretty clean but this double kick was insanely fast and he's playing a mix in between full leg and ankle and with a little bit of swivel
He's using a mix of full leg and ankle with a little bit of swivel and he struggled a little bit bc if I remember correctly this was the last song on his set and that double kick is insanely fast but usually he nails it
I have been following Luke for years. Studying his drumming has taken my drumming to a different level. Thanks for the years of inspiration!
You should try Chris Turner hes way too much better than Luke

@@jamesgames3043 ever met Garstka? :) (also no disrespect to chris cuz hes an absolute beast)
Love how he can make 4 drums sound like 10 and how he utilizes each cymbal to its fullest capability.
Haha only if u know Christ Turner
Love the double kick pattern starting at 2:04! Great performance!
Jason Richardson + Luke Holland. The sickest duo in recent metal history. Pure epicness!
Not metal. Heavy jazz-rock.

I prefer live mixes because I like the buttom end and raw tone it has
sounds fugly

People used to DAW drums
What an amazing talent. This guy has come a long way.
The man's a machine 🙏👊
Its crazy how Luke started and now this is his life. His hard work is paying off.

Love this festival and love you Germany from a Belgian brother
Glad this was posted. One of the greatest songs he has done with jason. Hopefully he can play mirriors or Tendinitis at the meinl drum festival.
ive been watching you since you made the 1st cinema cover and been an inspiration in my drumming. Salute!
Luke is so sick man, keep it up Luke.
Jason Richardson is a genius composer, and Luke Holland is a beast on the kit. 👌
Dude knows how to put on a show and kill it. Great job, Luke!
😲🤤😂 this is so awesome 👏 definitely moving
I saw Luke Holland and just knew it was gonna be incredible.
That ending was breathtaking! 🔥🔥🔥
No you are breathtaking
Hell yeah flawless drums
awesome playing mr. luke!
0:57 Is that Benny Greb holding the camera?? lol
Reyhan Vivaldi :D
Though, is this event actual now? I'm asking because if it is, I'd really love to see new content from Benny.
It does look like him at first glance but it's definitely not. He's in the back grooving away I'd say. Such incredible talent at these events.
Wow. That was incredibly clean. Extremely well executed!!
So fantastic
2nd most favourite drummer after Chris Turner from Oceans ate Alaska. Both are Insanly good.
The song is lit bro
5:40 is my favourite
He is a beast!

The absolute bravery of this man to choose to play Hos Down at a Meinl event. Like bro didn't need to flex so hard LOL
Awesome drumming 🙂👍

It will be great if i can be there watching him play in front my eyes
Very very good!!!

Nice Linear stuffs. :)
Drop at 1:50 is epic
What a roll.
That's the tightest I've heard him nail that double kick part. Fucking tops Luke!

That style of music is like a long road that has a bunch of curves and goes absolutely no where

Great performance, as always ! Quite like the song too !
and the end from "Dyning soul" ^^

ElMasBuscado yeah, i caught that, too. Does he use heel-toe for the 32's?
i guess this is the last song so he's been drained lol

Kit sounds KONG. Jam'd some of this in my Ludwig 🔥🔥🔥💨💨💨🤘🤘🤘
Is it just me or does this mix sound kinda bad? No bottom end to the kick and snare sounds like a room mic.
Was thinking the exact same thing about the kick!
You do realise that Kick is 100% mic'd up yeah? so Yes the mix is fucking awful.
Because this is to showcase the cymbals, not the kit.

John vincent he doesn’t use triggers
amazing \m/
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Ouch, I dont know if its the mix, but sounds like he struggled with the double kick at 5:44
Cody Boisen that double is insanely fast... I agree I think he had some trouble with the part, but with his talent it shouldn’t take much practice
On this particular clip yes he actually did but he usually does it pretty clean but this double kick was insanely fast and he's playing a mix in between full leg and ankle and with a little bit of swivel
Dam, that is fucking complex! Nice video...

Play at Pasic 2018

Why didn't Meinl have a better angle of Luke playing air-guitar with his drumstick @0:07 ?
WHY MEINL?!
Never noticed that lmao

for a second there I was thinking the camera guy was Benny Greb
Is that NINJA in the crowd ? lol
5:44 What happened here? Did Luke use the heel-toe method for the 32's?
Nah it's probably flat foot straight double bass singles
He's using a mix of full leg and ankle with a little bit of swivel and he struggled a little bit bc if I remember correctly this was the last song on his set and that double kick is insanely fast but usually he nails it
not human
He missed a beat at 5:06 but wth he is such a beast
He doubled the kick
Well damn
why A7V can't recruit him ?
God
What remo snare heads do luke use?
In this video it's just a regular ambassador coated but his choice is usually controlled sound coated (black dot) or p77 coated
