He actually explained how blowing or sucking air into/out of the porthole makes the drum sound deeper or higher at a gig. I think he played around with that a lot just how he does

Thing is, dude isn't even playing to a metronome, he just has God level feeling for time.
Bit that gets me every play through of this is that the drop of the tambourine on his stack is in time with him slapping it. Obviously he knows how it's going to fall, but he has zero control over it, he's just that in sync himself.
This drum solo is the most Benny Greb drum solo.

I've watched a lot of drummers lately, and I mean a lot, and I'm starting to believe that Benny is the best there is.
I agree , I love his style . Benny and Dave Weckl , who has got better with age are my Favourites ,oh wait ,Carter Beauford too.👍
Holy Bump! He's on the short list of great technicians/teachers (how can anyone say Thomas Lang is better than Jojo Mayer is better than Stanton Moore is better than etc), but I wouldn't underestimate what serving songs and being on said songs means to being on a "Greatest" list. I couldn't tell you anything about the music Benny plays on. Being in a band that people are aware of matters.

Benny has the best groove, best dynamic, best technique and best musicality - partnered with the best sounding snare, kick, tom tom, floor tom and cymbals :) it's always amazing! It's the first time I see him reaching his own limits - amazing to see this and I admire the courage to play this! well done Benny.

Wenn man es zumindest versucht hat, kann man am Ende trotzdem Stolz sein.
So Benny Greb have some of the most beautifully tuned drums Ive heard. The way his drums are tuned is what stood out to me the most when I first heard him play. Im typically more of maverick and do my own thing, rather than what other do. His drum tuning is so good, that I just had to tune my drums like him. Every drum set I have had since, Ive tuned as close to his sound as possible.
This gave me such a groovegasm
The only 21st century's drummer who's telling me a beautiful and amazing story when soloing ! He's a real musician, not just a drummer.

no one can bend the feel and time quite like Benny Greb - he has this ability to change the gravitational pull of the time itself so that it isn't that it rushes or drags but time itself speeds and slows down while he remains perfectly in the middle
Benny needs more mainstream recognition, like I’ve seen so much of this guy but every time I see or hear what he does I’m even more impressed, if I could only be a quarter as good as him I’ll be set for life
This guy is one of the most independent, creative and tasty drummers around! Love it!

I tried to do this after watching the video and it didn’t go as planned let me tell you.
I'd say, it takes some damn balls doing that on stage. I mean, everybody knows kind of what's going on but you'll have to pull it off damn perfectly, especially in front of an audience full of drummers. :D

Maintaining that kick + hi-hat groove constantly despite doing other stuff on the snare must be one of the hardest things ever. That coordination.
I dont think it's polyrhythmic. I guess he's completely doing going down and up tempos on his hand whilst doing a constant tempo on his feet. So impressive!!!

Meine Fresse war das gut! Technisch herausragend, innovativ, musikalisch.... Mir gehen da die Adjektive aus. Wahrscheinlich hört das der Benny nicht gern (da man ja als Künstler immer im Begriff ist sich zu entwickeln und man nie fertig bzw. am Ziel ist wenn es um das lernen geht), aber so hört es sich für mich an, wenn man ein Meister an seinem Instrument ist. Hut ab!
