In this video we are replacing the worn and leaking direct fuel injectors in my 2008 BMW 335i with the N54 engine. This is a SUPER COMMON failure point, and a great opportunity to upgrade to these beautiful Vitesco Index 12 Injectors. I talk about why they fail, how to replace them, and what to look for. I also replace all 6 ignition coils, boroscope all 6 cylinders, and talk about what to look for with failing injectors.
I hope you all enjoy!

The exhaust sounds so good!😍
It sounds great!!!
Great video as always, bro - But shouldn’t you be putting the injectors in the bank within 30 seconds of removing the seal covers, to prevent the seals from expanding outside the bank?🤔 The seals should only expand whilst inside the bank to create a perfect seal inside the bank - That’s why they come with the metal seal covers to keep them compressed until immediate installation is required
I got em in there pretty quick after pulling the covers, and I actually didn’t know that it was a time sensitive thing, but zero issues so far!
you got that thing sorted man nice work!
Shes been my daily for the last 2 weeks! been sooooo fun!
Nice content Alec! Always aiming for improvement. I like the video editing style update :)
The main reason for the injectors to leak or stuck open is dirt in the fuel line (mainly caused for riding with low gas). Adding a secondary fuel filter can avoid or postpone this issue
thats a great idea
Only found your channel recently (the giveaway build video was suggested on my homepage) and am loving it the channel and the energy.
Honestly, it was so disheartening to see that your recent videos barely get numbers.
Wish you growth and success, may the gods of the algorithm smile upon you :)
This comment made my day! Thanks Kirill! Just gotta keep going and hope people find my channel and enjoy ME in the content :) Just gotta stick with it. Hope you stick around!!!
Man, I just love tuning in and chill to your videos. Glad you took my tip and changed the ignition coils! Really enjoy your content Alec. Much love from Norway!
that means SOOOO MUCH TO ME! Thats my goal, make content you can relax to, but also learn something from! Cheers!!!
@@DayOffDIY Happy to hear that! From my point of view, you have definitely succeeded in that! I just learnt so much from your bodyshop video! Going to refresh my front fenders, bumper on my E46 and side skirts so that will come in really handy! 😍
AWESOME! That body shop video had soooo much good info in it! Good luck on the body work!
I’ll stick with my n52 engine, less power for sure but so much easier to work on, more reliable and way less complex.
i agree 100%, however the power of this N54 is supeerrrr addicting lol
Really great content! I’ve spent more than an hour watching video here in Atlanta! Keep it up!
Thanks for the support, super pumped you're digging the content!
New injectors make such a world of difference
it was a night and day difference, literally!
Thank for the great content. You are the man. I love the commentary 😂
means a lot Rob! Thank you!
Awesome result, congrats!
Thanks, they really make a difference!
Cool video bro. I think you did the install wrong though. You need to get the injector seal tool kit. The seals are a bit oversized to ensure a snug seal. You use the tool and it will give you about 30 seconds to pop the injector in before the seal starts to widen. Hope you don’t get any blow back
no blow back yet! I installed the injectors shortly after pulling the metal caps while the teflon is expanding, I havent seen a tool for it before, so far so good!
@ nice 👍🏼 I once used Teflon tape on a used injector I installed from eBay. It gave a really snug fit on the two points where the seals are. Excited to see more on this car. That must be a great feeling once you get that thing 100% mechanically sound and then start to do cosmetic surgery
Amazing video man!
thanks thiago!
Great content
thank youuu!!!!
It’s small intake ports that lead to the valve cover
Happy Thanksgiving Alec!
Happy Holidays bogs!
I'm only watching because of the sound of your voice (and Sage)
HAHAH my man!

✌️
Serhan!!! Im doing quite well thanks for asking. Busy with the holidays but work is picking up and so is the channel. I got some more E90 content coming soon, replacing the control arms on the 335i next week! stay tuned! Be good my friend, cheers!
Outstanding work man awesome content
Love these videos! Your subscribers would love an ISTA tutorial ....Btw Currently purchased used index-12 and fuel pump to install while my car is put away because $2400 and $1200 for those at FCP euro is a bit too pricey for 2008 vehicle.
its crazy how expensive these injectors are... I sent my used ones to my buddy mario so he can rebuild and clean them and try them for his 135i, he cant afford new either, neither could I but luckily FCP Euro helped me out on this one
@@30guarino what's an index-12?
@@bogusienombre355 fuel injectors they're so damn expensive for new oem ones it's either buy used, new oem, or roll the dice with china refurbished aftermarket ones
@30guarino thank you that must be a brand name I've not noticed. Appreciate your time and effort to answer.
Thank much for these videos 👍🔥🔥🔥
Nice work
Thank you! Cheers!
Damn rip to that snap on boro, that was prolly fucked expensive
Good stuff bro.
appreciate it!
Time for Direct injection Delete😁😁😁
Would you consider working on a fans car for content if they shipped it out to you and paid for the repairs?
Absolutely! If you’re serious about it shoot me an email at dayoffdiy@gmail.com :)
Those injectors came with Teflon seals pre-installed?
yup, you pull those metal caps and the teflon expands
@@DayOffDIY Nice good to know. One less tool or step is always a plus.
nice man!
Ivor!!! Good to see your name! Thank you!
@@DayOffDIY I just bought an E53 with M54 3.0L. Working on it now to get it on the road! Doing vanos and CCV and stuff. Cheers bro!
Its better without background music 😁
The N54 Piezo injectors are superior to the solenoid injectors that replaced them, it's a shame the N54 had such bad luck with them and caused BMW to drop the technology.
obviously you have never used thier lifetime replacement or you would know that you have to purchace it again and then they give you a credit that you can only use in house. so unless you are a shop or your car goes down frequiently (N54 owners know what i mean) then you definetly purchased that twice and they definitly had questions, questions like whats your vin
Hate bmw but I love this guy
means a lot thanks fabian!
why do you (and others) need to insert the serial number of the injector? in my head, it doesn't make sense...
It's to activate the license, otherwise they'll stop after the trial period of 30 days. Joking aside, they vary a bit in how much they spray. These compensation codes tell the ECU how much.
yeah so its to help the computer compensate spray pattern between all 6 injectors, i believe they are given that number during testing at the factory, so its to help the computer even out the compensation values between injectors to make them even after install
BMW will never learn to build a car
They’ve made a lot of really good cars
Place the injectors on a testing stand. Checks for 5 minutes.
