Best video yet. I've been trying to understand this dance for sometime. After 2mins of watching your video I got it. Super simple explanation thank you!
Chidumebi Obioha That’s not what she meant a lot of Americans don’t know the dance so a popular Korean boy group had a music video with the dance so they came to look it up that’s what she means by “came from bts”
The Gwara Gwara was originally created by South African mamas who were vibing whiles cooking at the big clay pot that was used centuries ago, normally to feed an entire tribe. The legend goes that two women cooking fish pepper soup could hear the the sound of music going on every day as they cooked, and as everyone knows, for an African of any part of Africa to keep their feet or shoulders or neck or arms still is a nigh impossible task, so in order for them to dance whiles maintaining the stew and keeping it from catching at the bottom, they developed the Gwara Gwara. The stirring movement allowed them to wind low whiles giving space for them to shuffle their feet. Over time, the dance caught on to an entire generation of South Africans and has lived on as part of SA tradition, finding its way into West Africa and across the globe. This may not be legitimate history but it is very plausible fiction.
