I watched the speech as an analysis. Her ability to take pauses at the right time is great. Also, a lot of use of gestures helps so much. Great speaker along with awesome singer.

I love how she challenged each person in the audience (with a heart) to help one person, one organization, one situation. You don’t have to live a life of service but your life can be lived in such a way that uplifting people, showing kindness etc just becomes who you are. I think she did fantastic!
I don't know why but it made me cry. I would never cry over celebrity speeches. But she is so likeable and strong and beautiful and talented ugh I can't.

So often, we don't hear speeches from talented people who entertain us so we don't get a glimpse of who they are away from their performances. This was a very thoughtful and sincere speech from Rihanna.
Yeah, didn't know she started a charity organization at 18. Wouldn't have guessed.
She did a great job, she engaged with the audience, made jokes, talked about herself and how she helped organizations. I appreciated hearing her story and added her personal pain by talking about her grandmother.
This woman's voice is music even when she speaks...No wonder singing is effortless to her...amazing character too...and that Caribbean accent is so nice! 😊😋

I am 46 and I have always been amazed by people who are supremely confident at an young age. I have heard Rihanna's songs, seen some of her music videos, the quiet confidence of hers oozes from them.
It comes from truly being humble and not thinking you're better than anyone else. It leaves you with absolutely nothing to prove so you don't get embarrassed or nervous to be your authentic self.
99.99% of "confident" people get slammed in the face by reality and their delusions are shattered.
The remaining 0.01% that get lucky with genetics or circumstances get praised for their "confidence".
Rihanna always comes off real and genuine even when rehearsed.

I was glued to my phone throughout the speech. I love the spontaneity in her demeanour. That's my spec in speech making. Making it natural and being free with your audience makes it all beautiful. Written notes PR none,just flow with the audience.
She is so talented, she should never doubt what she can achieve, as she stated she achieved so much already, and I have seen her in concert in the past and she was amazing. Artists contribute to society just as academics do, Rihanna continues to inspire people all over the world today.
Actually artists, creatives generally and athletes contribute a great deal more than academics do. And people actually see and recognise their contribution over many generations.

@@mandyharewood886 I've seen her interviews from the mid 2000s and compared to her recent interviews, I can tell that her Barbadian accent is no more. There might still be some traces of her original accent but she sounds almost 100% American now.
