1:35 - This is such a sweet commercial. I remember seeing it, but had forgotten about it. Too bad it never became one of those classic commercials they play each holiday, because it deserves to be. The stop motion animation is really good here.
Always loved the Claymation Christmas special and the Garfield one too. I, like many, had them recorded on VHS but eventually lost the tape. I've managed to find them since then though, and now both are on DVD. I know the Garfield Christmas special aired at least a few more times on TV, but I never saw the Claymation one on TV again since the initial airing. It would be nice to have these old specials, and more, available on platforms like hulu or Netflix.
I have Claymation Christmas on vhs. My family never forgot about it. And yes, it hasn't been on tv in forever. It premiered dec 21 87. I was born feb 87. Garfield Christmas premiered the same night.
I had the 1991 version of Garfield Christmas recorded on VHS still to this day. After that was Claymation Christmas, Wonderful World of Disney's Christmas Carol, Rankin Bass's Frosty The Snowman(which was animated by Mosamu Dezuki to whom was uncredited even though he would later make other anime later on), and the Outland/Bloom Country Christmas special A Wish For Wings That Work. Now I just catch them on YT whenever the holidays roll around. Still they bring back memories of when I would watch them and anticipate on whether or not I got a SNES under the tree, which I didnt, and it would later be an NES on my birthday afterwords in early 1992, then the SNES on another birthday in early 1993.
WCBS used the "It's 2!" branding for the 1988-1989 TV season. I once had a glitch similar to the one from #43 from a national broadcast of Flashbeagle Charlie Brown in 1986, a 7up commercial. Kind of funny how the glitch set the commercials back far enough for the ABC network feed to begin. "I'M LATE" indeed!
Merry Christmas, everyone, including YOU, 80sCommercialVault! Looking forward to more nostalgic ads every year! If you don't like "Merry Christmas", then "Happy Hanukkah", or "Happy Holidays." Or if you don't like "Happy Holidays", then "Happy Shut-the-Fuck-Up".
'Child World' must have been owned by the same company that ran 'Children's Palace', another popular midwestern toy store chain. The logo is virtually the same. UPDATE: They were owned by same company: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Child_World
You have to be in a really healthy relationship in order to give your wife mouthwash. Also, thanks for posting this! I have like the first half of the commercials on Garfield but then my mom stopped taping them after that.
I can tell you that this is from my tape, the partial clip of the California Raisins was just a matter of me not checking my work when editing the captures. I'm currently recapturing this and all my other tapes at a higher quality and redoing the editing to be a little cleaner
What is up with the perfume ads in the 80s & early 90s? They’re all some kind of post modern, high concept art project. I suppose they were effective mostly because of how bizarre they were. Those ads stand out but for all the wrong reasons.
I had no idea they made a commercial for those Garfield window clings. That is amazing.

I remember this commercial fondly
Agreed

I have this exact set of commercials in my collection. I love it when that happens to us! 😻😘

I miss the 80s early 90s , being a kid then was so much simpler.
I don't know when the last time I saw "A Claymation Christmas" on TV, but it is available on DVD.
29 years ago..Wow!
I have A Claymation Christmas Celebration that was recorded on a VHS somewhere.

I somehow had a feeling this was a CBS upload and it wasn't from seeing the thumbnail, so I know that CBS bumper of death would appear :p.
It never struck me until now, but the California Raisins were goddamned HORRIFYING.

Thanks for sharing it, I believe I got this recording in a trade?
@@80sCommercialVault I took another look at the tape, its from my parents and it wasn't a bad edit from me, my parents started a different recording.
