You weren't kidding about that Ronald McDonald 'Sponsored By' card! I went AAAAAAAAHHHHH!
This would become a family Halloween tradition (Garfield and The Great Pumpkin). Man, I love CBS's old "Special Presentation" bumper!
What a great batch of ads! Like, some of the best of the 80's, right here. I know _Garfield's Halloween Adventure_ is as nostalgic an annual treat for folks who grew up with it as _It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown_ and this is also the era where McDonald's ads really started to get good, in my opinion. Who _doesn't_ love the wacky world of Ronald McDonald and company? Hamburglar looked kind of weird, though. I also really love the commercials for Bubble Yum. Pure 80's charm, right there. What a great tape!
The Bubble Yum one at the end might be the most 80s commercial ever made.
The special presentation bumper is still scariest.
I wish Wuzzles had had a second season. Watched both of those Halloween specials again...never get tired of the Great Pumpkin.
1:58 - "Hi, kids! I'm Ronald, the face-melting clown!!"
On the Jose Dominiquez case, two suspects were charged with murder in the case in 1989 but were never brought to trial, leaving the case still unsolved.
8:06 Michele Marsh, the WCBS-TV anchor seen here, just passed away two weeks ago tomorrow from complications from breast cancer.
I'm happy they changed the Hamburglar and Grimace costumes to something to more cheerful.
Funny, I JUST now finished watching "Garfield's Halloween Adventure" AND "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" together, neat timing. xD
Also woooow, I never found Teddy Ruxpin creepy per-say but as much as its clearly a silly tongue-in-cheek way of advertising the toy around Halloween, seeing that if I grew up in the 80's in the US would of Weirded Me Out.
Good news btw on anthology shows! Clearly, anthology shows have been making a steady comeback lately. "Black Mirror" I'm sure was the big thing that inspired that all, but they're starting to pop back up. Apple and Spielberg are bringing back "Amazing Stories", Bryan Cranston helped produce an anthology show of Philip K Dick stories for Amazon in the US and there have been attempts to bring back "Tales from the Crypt" recently so it's gonna be more and more in style soon.
Very good volume here. :D Lots of goodness this time.
Oh yes, one more note. For some reason I can't fathom, I find that talking cows are always funny.
Wow, Laura Carrington in the first KFC commercial, didn’t realize she’s done so many commercials, she’s known for being Lionel Ritchie’s “ love” interest in his “ Hello” video, she was one of the most beautiful women I had ever seen, crushed on her!
The Garfield Halloween special freaked me out as a kid, because of those ghost pirates.
WCBS from New York! I probably watched this special the very night it aired on channel 2! I also had the illustrated book called Garfield in Disguise.
Anybody else find that McDonalds still image @ 1:58 super scary? WHERE IT'S A SCARY TIME IN YOUR SLEEP TONIGHT WITH RONALD AND HIS FRIENDS!
I agree, the 80s version of the Twilight Zone was really good.
KFC Nuggets-the spokesperson is Laura Harrington, better known as the woman whom Lionel Richie was "pursuing"(read:stalking) in the video for his hit"Hello" XD
Charlie & Co.-featuring a pre-Urkel Jaleel White
Twilight Zone-just read that Jordan Peele is reviving the show for CBS All Access
WCBS News-better get Cagney & Lacey on the case lol
Of course I have to look up the missing person and read what happened. Bummer.
Looks like it went cold..Thats all I saw
I'm going to need closure on this manhunt for renegade cop business.
The teenage cutie in the Cream of Wheat commercial looks to be Kimberly Williams. She would have been 14 at the time.
0:13
She reminds me of Jody Watley.
She was the love interest in the Lionel Richie video "Hello"
ETA: I don't see Jody Watley at all LOL
8:52 Blue Blonnet Blutter-dammit.
I never understood why Teddy Ruxpin wore a bulletproof vest...either that or one if the weighted smocks from the dentist.
Bridge Tiessa teddy rolls hard in the hood and ain't afraid to drop brass
Mike Troncin Haha, excellent.
2:18 chicken nuggets have moms?
Yet another Billy Zabka I.D. That's him playing the son in The Equalizer promo. I didn't know he was in 12 episodes of this series. Zabka was a busy guy in the '80s.
I guess McDonalds makes the best chicken nuggets
2:00
Crow T. Robot: Here comes... *_the Devil!_*
Tom Servo: It's Beelzebub the Clown!
